A genuine miracle has happened

It’s 7.15pm. Both kids are in their own beds quietly. 4yo reading to her teddies, 5mo asleep in his crib. DP is making crumble from the blackberries and apples in our garden. The house is reasonably tidy. No one is asking anything of me.

How long will it last?! How should I enjoy my freedom? What miracles have happened in your house today?

No miracles in my house OP but the thought of your 4year old reading to her teddies has made me smile. Actually that's a miracle for me today!

Rabbitrabbitrun · 24/07/2025 19:42

Lovely thread. Enjoy @bigblueboots ❤️

Sounds lovely! You might have cursed it by talking about it though!

Ohmych · 24/07/2025 19:49

Enjoy the peace while it lasts.

The ready-made lasagne from Lidl decanted perfectly into my lasagne dish which turned out to be just the right size, and the bottom layer of pasta didn't stick to the dish like it does to the foil one it comes in.

DH has just done the washing-up and is now off out so I have a lovely evening in all by myself.

And my bank balance was rather higher than I thought it would be so I have transferred some of it into savings.

Wirdle · 24/07/2025 19:56

Enjoy!

it rained while i was out but my washing specifically my towel , is not too wet

Mewling · 24/07/2025 19:58

Oh this sounds truly idyllic!

DS 13 is packed for the Scout Jamboree on Saturday. Many thanks to elder son's girlfriend, who motivated him and helped him. He does what she tells him to do. 🤣

DGD’s toy has just turned up. We thought it was lost at a museum and expected a meltdown at bedtime but it’s been found at home which feels like a miracle. Your house sounds idyllic tonight.

LittlleMy · 24/07/2025 20:01

I’ve been meaning to take a walk for months but my confidence is rock bottom as I’ve put 2 stone and I’m only tiny so I look huge 😢. But at 4.30 I actually left the house. My face was bright red and I was all sweated out when I got back but a miracle was had! 🫠

tryingtobesogood · 24/07/2025 20:01

I’m not feeling hungry so DH has got himself a takeaway and I have popped The Gilded Age on while I chill with a cup of tea. Bliss

rather loving the thought of your little one reading to her teddies ❤️

Iamthemoom · 24/07/2025 20:01

That sounds blissful. Maybe it’s the start of many peaceful evenings to come!

holysmokee · 24/07/2025 20:15

Similar to you really, 3 year old asleep by 7:10 with no fuss! It’s only her second night without a bottle before bed too so I was expecting more resistance. The whole ordeal only took 20 minutes and an audiobook.

Not in my house

But at my MIL house where I was gardening, I went to move some newly delivered bags of compost, and underneath I found…

A mummy/daddy frog and two tiny little froglets about the size of 5p pieces.

I transferred them all into the hedge nearby and gave the area a good going over with the watering canSmile

And as we were just about to sit down to a tv dinner with plates on trays on laps, I looked at the channel listings and managed to quickly skip over 'Today at the Test' and choose another channel before DH looked up and noticed it! 😂

Well done for braving it! This is our first week putting 5mo in his cot, previously needed full contact and silence for sleep 😬 glad we made a change!
