A genuine miracle has happened

It’s 7.15pm. Both kids are in their own beds quietly. 4yo reading to her teddies, 5mo asleep in his crib. DP is making crumble from the blackberries and apples in our garden. The house is reasonably tidy. No one is asking anything of me.

How long will it last?! How should I enjoy my freedom? What miracles have happened in your house today?

😂😂😂

Enjoy your peace op and the tranquility of happy children sleeping soundly in their beds. Best feeling in the world.

In my home the whole family (teen dc) agreed we are going to move home after fifteen years living elsewhere. I never thought the day would come. Ever. I have tears in my eyes writing this. I am in shock.

Confusdworriedmum · 24/07/2025 22:09

My win today was my DS, who's autistic and usually has mega meltdowns at the shops or runs off walked nicely round Asda today. Only picked up a couple of items but big cuddles tonight. I was so proud of him.

sumayyah · 24/07/2025 22:14

I took my car for a full valet, now the smell of vomit has gone and it looks clean right in time for the kids to wreak it

My son drank all his prescription shakes today (honestly I wouldn't drink them either) because my daughters gym bestie asked him to

I love this thread so it's a little miracle all by itself! I've remembered something else wonderful that happened today. There's a huge and beautiful tree opposite my house and I look at it every time I do the washing up. This morning a big lorry pulled up and two men with high-vis gear, ladders, ropes and chain saws appeared. One of them started climbing the tree and I feared they were going to cut it down. I decided I'd have to move house if they did! Luckily, they just removed a couple of large dead branches and within an hour, they'd chipped all the debris, swept up and disappeared. The tree still looks beautiful.

I’ve been meaning to take a walk for months but my confidence is rock bottom as I’ve put 2 stone and I’m only tiny so I look huge 😢. But at 4.30 I actually left the house. My face was bright red and I was all sweated out when I got back but a miracle was had! 🫠

Well done. A walk is so good for the soul.

I felt I had a shitty day for no real reason, just hormones and a bit worn thin with mum burden and the kids being off. Then I saw on social media a child rail thin, bones protruding dressed in a bin bag being held by his haunted looking motherand was distraught for a while, just can't bear it, and realised the world is absolutely fucked but my life and my safe warm fed healthy happy children are miracles I need to be greatful for. I'm grateful but heartbroken tonight.

bigblueboots · 24/07/2025 22:28

Such lovely little moments in your homes - thank you so much for sharing everyone. The baby stirred twice but was easily settled again, and the 4yo went to sleep a few minutes after I posted. Sending love to those who have had bad days/nights/weeks, especially with bereavement. Wishing you miracles and peace ahead. X

I’m in bed !!! And I’m going to sleep now I really really am.

lifemovesonward · 24/07/2025 22:35

love this thread! I’m on holiday with my 2 sons. One is asleep, the teenager and I have been playing a board game but he’s now in the shower and I’m lazing on the couch reading my book. A very, very nice end to a lovely day with my boys.

Enjoy the peace while it lasts.

Lol. Pretty much.

TheSilentSister · 24/07/2025 22:39

I cooked something new tonight, seafood paella, and it turned out wonderful. DS and I agreed it was restaurant worthy (and so it bloody should be as the ingredients cost a fortune). I'm not a great cook and stick to the same things usually so it was a small miracle that our dinner turned out so well. Plus my DS helped me, enthusiastic and good company. Lovely evening. Now chilling with wine.

Your blackberries are very early or are they last year's crop from the freezer? I have some which are years old!

This thread goes nicely with Mellow Magic, and a cup of Earl Grey. 😊

Osmosisfreight · 24/07/2025 23:04

My daughter with a speech delay asked to go to the beach today so we went to the beach ❤️

Bring back the laugh emoji, bring it back now! The mere thought of a fake labubo thing cracked me up. The real ones are strange enough, did the fake one look very obivlously fake or would only an connoisseur be able to tell the difference?

Well done for braving it! This is our first week putting 5mo in his cot, previously needed full contact and silence for sleep 😬 glad we made a change!

Genuine question, how did you go from full contact to being able to put down (I ask as I lie beside 6 month old so that she doesn't wake up)?

Snailssitonwhales · 24/07/2025 23:26

Whilst I love my children dearly I am very jealous of all your lovely evenings / stories from today.

For us bedtime took hours after nursery let my one hear old sleep for over 3 hours and my 3 year old told me he also had a nap (which I doubted to be true, until he didn't go to sleep until close to 10pm).

Blackberries have started to go ripe near us for the last 2-3 weeks in the north of England. Could it be due to the hot weather?

Teasloth · 24/07/2025 23:50

I heard some kids outside earlier talking about our guinea pig garden ornament. As it was still light and I had a real one on my lap at the time I opened the front door to say hi and so they could give it a pet if they wanted to.

It turned out I'd misteken the sound and it was actually a 69 year old man with learning difficulties and his wife. They were utterly thrilled and enjoyed a chat and little furry cuddle!

Felt like I'd brightened someone's day with such a small effort
