A genuine miracle has happened

It’s 7.15pm. Both kids are in their own beds quietly. 4yo reading to her teddies, 5mo asleep in his crib. DP is making crumble from the blackberries and apples in our garden. The house is reasonably tidy. No one is asking anything of me.

How long will it last?! How should I enjoy my freedom? What miracles have happened in your house today?

That's fab @LittlleMy 🙂

🥲🙏

We managed to get a takeaway and enjoy it as a family. My very picky toddler had a plateful of rice and curry with naan. She even tried the raita, kebab and chicken. I didn’t have to prepare a separate meal today. Now that’s a miracle in our house 😄

Roseblooms7 · 24/07/2025 20:28

After being rejected for so many Grad jobs DD has been offered the most bloody perfect role in Westminster doing exactly what she wanted. It truly is a miracle and we are so so happy in this house tonight.

I read that as your toddler having a curry with her nan...😂

Aaaallthefood · 24/07/2025 20:44

After a few really hard weeks of a toddler outgrowing her naps (very late bedtimes, lots of screaming and upset), we’ve finally knocked the daytime naps on the head…she’s gone down for 7pm, happy, no screaming. It’s like a whole new world!!

coxesorangepippin · 24/07/2025 20:45

Praise the Lord!!! Hahaha.

I've just cleaned the house and the laundry baskets are 😲 empty

Hallelujah!

Welikebeingcosy · 24/07/2025 20:45

I'm completely burned out this week, it hit me like a truck out of nowhere...but I managed to finish the washing up and get some sheets cleaned which were building up. Maybe if I can plough through tonight with some more housework whilst my daughter is with my mum for one night, my nervous system will recover at a less chaotic house.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/07/2025 20:46

My daughter caught a fish and I'm going to eat it for my breakfast.

Veraveravera · 24/07/2025 20:48

What a lovely thread. I’ve not got many miracles to report here, but this is cheering me up on a week where I’ve lost an extremely good friend and cried so much every day. The happiness here is helping me. And I’m having a glass of wine to myself as DH is away tonight.

I have kids same age too…had similar miracles maybe twice🫣 loved it!

The student who has been asking other academics to do something for them which I had refused to do hasn't found anyone else to ask today. Think they were trying the "if mum says no I'll ask dad".
And I'm now on holiday and a colleague who is even stricter than me is taking that role for two weeks.
And my mathematical model seems to have worked.

Well done for braving it! This is our first week putting 5mo in his cot, previously needed full contact and silence for sleep 😬 glad we made a change!

Aw thank-you and well done to you too! And your baby too.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 24/07/2025 20:52

I'm strolling up to the local pub with Dh shortly. That's the miracle. Nothing to be done. 3 Kids are 12 to 17, they can do whatever while we are gone, we won't be late so if they are still up that's ok. If they are hungry they'll make a snack. The last year has been a daily miracle. I go for a walk when I want. I do evening classes if I want to, jobs like grocery shopping or running errands are done when suits me. I sometimes go for coffee with my book to get some me time. I've started getting my nails done. I have reconnected with about 5 different social groups, I've had nights out, gone to gigs and met for brunch. I don't know why this stuff isn't celebrated more, youngest kid being 12 is like a whole new lease of life!

i am loving the little miracles in everyone's houses tonight. so heart warming.

my tween children actually played together in the garden this evening, whilst i enjoyed a drink with DH and then all went to bed without a fuss. cuddled up with dog on sofa now. also feeling happy. little things.

moderndilemma · 24/07/2025 20:52

My adult dc has been visiting for a week and today has returned to their home (abroad). The miracle is that they have not left half their belongings behind, and I don't have to incur international postage!

Squirrelsandblackbirds · 24/07/2025 20:54

These are lovely to read.

My miracle today was I finally managed to pair one of my charity shop finds (an oversized shirt) with something and actually looked good!
Every time I've worn it (only about 5 times) something was just not quite right, but today...I finally love it on me, not just in my wardrobe!
(edited for typos)

It is truly heartwarming to read all these beautiful posts…..thank you for sharing. I had a family bereavements yesterday, it was very sudden and does make you take stock of the important things in life. Hugs your loved ones extra tight xxx

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 24/07/2025 20:56

It is dh's birthday tomorrow. A 0 one.
I was about to send the teens out to get him a present, but they'd already done it, wrapped it and written a card.

Helpmechooseausername · 24/07/2025 20:56

I have been stressing about work, really needed to get on top of a lot of things and I've not been there long so am still trying to make a good impression!

Today I went into work early and stayed late on my day off, got my head down and have pretty much done everything I needed to do. My inbox has 3 emails in it and they're just for information, no action required from me.

Yes, you read that right! 3 emails. Not 300 or 3000. 3. Go me!

PS lovely thread, I'm loving everyone's little success stories!!

GoodBones85 · 24/07/2025 20:59

I have survived 4 days solo with my nearly 6 year old DS and my 5 month old puppy. One more day to go…..

pointythings · 24/07/2025 20:59

DD's from scratch sourdough has risen properly, and my orange cat is taking his meds again (for however long that lasts).

Lulubo1 · 24/07/2025 21:03

This is such a lovely thread ❤️

DD (she's 3yo) said "I need to go to bed, mummy" when I asked if she was ready to go upstairs. She was asleep in 5mins. Normally we have a 30-45min battle. I'm enjoying a Curly Wurly while watching a film. Happy evening in this house
