It’s 7.15pm. Both kids are in their own beds quietly. 4yo reading to her teddies, 5mo asleep in his crib. DP is making crumble from the blackberries and apples in our garden. The house is reasonably tidy. No one is asking anything of me.

How long will it last?! How should I enjoy my freedom? What miracles have happened in your house today?

Blackberries? They're early!

Really? We’ve got tonnes
here!

Lovemeapickledgherkin · 25/07/2025 18:57

The stars have aligned and all is well with the universe in your household.
Enjoy! 😉

I returned from holiday today with my daughter. To find my husband and son have kept the house clean and tidy and hubby now cooking dinner!

Pliudev · 25/07/2025 19:02

I told my ShihTzu puppy that I was disappointed to see she was eating my slipper again. And she left it in the hall and went to sleep on my swimming bag.

I’m not feeling hungry so DH has got himself a takeaway and I have popped The Gilded Age on while I chill with a cup of tea. Bliss

rather loving the thought of your little one reading to her teddies ❤️

Love the gilded age. Do you know the characters are based on real people? Makes super interesting understanding of life at that time.
Amazon prime have 'American dynasty'. Am currently watching the Vanderbilts who the main characters on gilded age are based on. Soooooo interesting.

DoveOfPiss · 25/07/2025 19:05

I got really behind at work but have spent 3 days working really hard to catch up. Finally managed it at 2 minutes past my home time so now I can have next week off with a clear conscience and didn't need to stay late either 😊😊 bonus

WorkItUpYourBangle · 25/07/2025 19:15

This sounds like my house every day and I have a lot more than 2 kids. We have a wee chill family.

ThierryHwasthebest · 25/07/2025 19:18

My son (17) had flowers delivered to me today to say thank you for helping him with various things recently, and also told me that he loved me.
I admit I got a bit misty eyed.

3luckystars · 25/07/2025 19:22

I’m a bit misty eyed at that.

This is beautiful! However long it lasts, enjoy it. It could be months before you get a repeat.

My win today was my DS, who's autistic and usually has mega meltdowns at the shops or runs off walked nicely round Asda today. Only picked up a couple of items but big cuddles tonight. I was so proud of him.

Ah I love this and understand all too well what a win that is 🙂

Mine is that my 7yo autistic DS has been playing enthusiastically with his 6yo NT sister for over an hour, the sister whom he has mostly ignored all of her life. It's a sight to be seen!

Crikeyalmighty · 25/07/2025 19:52

@Roseblooms7 I’m really made up for you all - that’s marvellous news !

Arctician · 25/07/2025 19:54

…..put some cream on the crumble - but remember … Portion Control 😈

ImGoneUnderground · 25/07/2025 20:07

I decided to write the shopping list during my lunch break, then realised we didn't actually need anything! Got home early (due to not having to go shopping after work), to find that my lovely daughter in law had not only cleaned the bathroom, but also the whole kitchen, on her day off! Here comes the weekend - which seems about a day early now! I also love the image of the 4 year old reading to her teddies!😍

Agreewithyou12 · 25/07/2025 20:11

My 18 month old is refusing to go to sleep and we’ve had a really challenging evening with her post-nursery with many tantrums, refusing to eat anything and losing her shit about having a bath. It’s my partner’s birthday and all I want to do is go and eat the nice meal I prepped earlier and open his presents! Reading these has reminded me that not every day is like this and that we also do have good/happy days so thanks everyone and happy Friday

Perimenopausalmanicmum · 25/07/2025 20:15

My eldest moved out 7 years ago, my middle child moved out 2 months ago and my 3rd child went to Peru for 4 weeks 2 days ago. I thought I would have a peaceful 4 weeks, the peace lasted 1 day. My grandsons summer child care fell through so yay nanna to the rescue. I lost a 16 year old but gained a 7 year old for the summer 😂😂

Our blackberries (in a tub in the garden) are almost finished (have picked 1kg) and the wild ones are ripe too (down South as far as you can go)

I think here in the East there hasn't been enough rain to fatten them even though there's been lots of sun but I will start looking in my favourite spots.

DestituteDesperate · 25/07/2025 20:33

My miracle is my bowel operation is happening end of August so soon, peeing and shitting all over myself and using tena ladies may just be a distant memory LOL.

I can not wait to return back to work and be able to feed myself and not go days without food so my son doesn’t have to.

Disturbia81 · 25/07/2025 20:35

I was thinking today how I’ve had no house flies or bluebottles in my house this summer yet, that really is a miracle. I am usually plagued by their annoying buzz

Tryonemoretime · 25/07/2025 20:36

After 4 and a half years of Long Covid and 2 recent horrible crashes, I've suddenly felt really well and was able to travel to help our daughter with her first baby. A real miracle for me - and I praise God for it!

PangolinPan · 25/07/2025 20:38

I'm at my parents with DC1. I have had a two course meal cooked for me and I have been sitting down IN SILENCE for the last hour. No mayday signals from DP at home with Tasmanian devil DC2. Very miraculous!

LillyPJ · 25/07/2025 20:45

I used to spend hours reading but nowadays I struggle to concentrate and get through a book. However, today I sat in the shade in the garden and read almost 100 pages. (Noah's Compass by Anne Tyler, if you're interested. One of my favourite authors.) The miracle was that there were no disturbances - no loud cars with booming music, no children shouting in nearby gardens, no power tools revving up... That really is a miracle.

CantFollowInstructions · 25/07/2025 20:51

My 3.5 year old fell asleep before 9 p.m. despite napping for over an hour at nursery today. She stopped napping aged 2 and on days where she randomly does decide to nap bedtime is usually a much bigger battle!

I can't lie, that does sound like a bloody miracle, are you sure you're not hallucinating?
