A genuine miracle has happened

It’s 7.15pm. Both kids are in their own beds quietly. 4yo reading to her teddies, 5mo asleep in his crib. DP is making crumble from the blackberries and apples in our garden. The house is reasonably tidy. No one is asking anything of me.

How long will it last?! How should I enjoy my freedom? What miracles have happened in your house today?

OP posts:

It’s not exactly a miracle but DD and I were amused to see that one of the neighbours cats had left a piglet cat toy in our garden. I also got some swimming stuff back from in-laws which I had thought we’d lost on holiday. Sometimes it’s the small things.

It is truly heartwarming to read all these beautiful posts…..thank you for sharing. I had a family bereavements yesterday, it was very sudden and does make you take stock of the important things in life. Hugs your loved ones extra tight xxx

I feel for you, I had too have had a sudden and deeply shocking family bereavement a few weeks ago that has rocked me to my core. I have been enjoying this thread because it is lovely to read about other people's happiness, makes me feel that maybe one day I will find some peace.

I asked my boyfriend to get toothpaste, onions and milk when he went to the shop,
I didn’t get a call whilst he was at the shop, and he remembered everything! Bloody miracle!

DD's from scratch sourdough has risen properly, and my orange cat is taking his meds again (for however long that lasts).

I suspect when your orange cat works out that you've slipped his meds in, he'll put his paw down with a firm hand and stop. 😹
I wouldn't swap mine (or his tabby sister) for anything...except some new carpet and a sofa🤦🏻‍♀️

My "win" was finding £20 in a pocket of an old shoulder bag that I was chucking out 🤑😁 so the cats are in line for some dreamies and a tin of tuna from "their" windfall.🤔🙄

My two young adult children sorted the recycling and put the bins out. That’s my everyday miracle!

Wasitabadger · 24/07/2025 21:18

I have been offered a new job (just interim ) after being forced to resign from my previous job due to disability discrimination. The ET have accepted the claim which has helped my mood. I managed to get up early, drop my pooch off to my friend (who pooch sits for me). Complete another module on DuoLingo, complete my first code word by myself. A friend messaged to say she had met with a professor today. Friend has mentioned me and my doctoral research, professor would like to be introduced to me. Best miracle I managed to finish my ethics proposal for my doctoral research. Life is looking up. This gives me hope after feeling a significant failure recently. I very much enjoyed reading about the little girl sharing bedtime stories with the teddies.

Such a lovely thread, miracle indeed OP and everyone else, made my day😍
Miracle of my day is DS1 being praised in school for good behavior first time in months and DS2 actually walking across the park to politely return a toy he was crying for for an hour :-) 20 moths old just for the context of not enjoying sharing 😁
Also got 10. 5 mins and 1 shared beer with DH on balcony while they miraculously ate their dinner at peace WIN

NeverDropYourMooncup · 24/07/2025 21:23

I completely forgot the dentist had called last week and rebooked an appointment I'd cancelled due to work issues. I only remembered it at 11.54pm yesterday.

I got there expecting that the massive work stress and resultant self neglect and constant grinding (despite religiously using a nightguard) would mean lots of very expensive and painful work.

Everything's fine.

BrandyandGinger · 24/07/2025 21:24

It's not raining in Ireland. I got some of the lawn cut and a DC is outside mowing now. 2 loads of washing got line dried.

Showdogworkingdog · 24/07/2025 21:26

My kitchen miser lever tap has been dripping for a while then last week, it began leaking from the handle. I’d bought it online, £300 it cost. First miracle was I managed to find my email order confirmation. Bought in august 2020, said it had a five year guarantee so I was half expecting them to tell me to jog on. I emailed them with a photo of my leaky tap on Monday and second miracle today a brand new pair of levers for my tap arrived from the manufacturer, no fuss, no arguing. Both the drip and the leak are no more.
How amazing is that? Miracle.
Drench if anyone is wondering.

Came on mumsnet for a bit of drama but found the thread I really needed. Thank you, op, and enjoy the miracle

And as we were just about to sit down to a tv dinner with plates on trays on laps, I looked at the channel listings and managed to quickly skip over 'Today at the Test' and choose another channel before DH looked up and noticed it! 😂

My miracle is two days at the Test in Manchester with no time lost to rain (despite a very dubious forecast a couple of days ago) and even better England had a cracking day. Your DH should watch it on catch up - he’ll enjoy it if an England supporter.

fakegrassdisappointment · 24/07/2025 21:29

My Dad’s been bedbound in hospital for several weeks.
He walked a few steps today. He’s delighted. As am I.

Cakeandcardio · 24/07/2025 21:33

What a lovely thread! I am sitting reading in peace while DH is at his parents. Both kids sound asleep with 1yo in bed next to me. I feel very calm and fortunate 💗

Well done for braving it! This is our first week putting 5mo in his cot, previously needed full contact and silence for sleep 😬 glad we made a change!

Teach me your secrets!! I’m gearing up for my three month old going into his cot in a few months…

VelvetAndPVC · 24/07/2025 21:36

I managed to buy three perfectly ripe avocados today, they were a lovely addition to my chicken Caesar salad.

longtompot · 24/07/2025 21:39

I had three under three and I still remember the one time they all had a nap at the same time. Bliss!

My adult dc has been visiting for a week and today has returned to their home (abroad). The miracle is that they have not left half their belongings behind, and I don't have to incur international postage!

Mum is that you???

Ruelzdontapplyhere · 24/07/2025 21:43

Ds lost the fake labubu thing which is a miricle now I don't have to look at the ugly thing.

Hedonism · 24/07/2025 21:47

My DS (14) is reading a book! It truly is a miraculous day.

Ladybaga · 24/07/2025 21:49

Such a lovely thread, so nice to read such lovely things. I reached out to an old friend tonight, just to remind her we are here if she needs us as I suspect she is going through more than she says.

NImumconfused · 24/07/2025 21:57

Haven't got a miracle of my own today but it's making me feel so much better hearing about all yours. Long may the peace continue OP!

telestrations · 24/07/2025 22:02

Me and DH have both been very burned out and a bit at loggerheads lately. Today we were both able to relax, enjoy the day and enjoy our 11 month old together

LillyPJ · 24/07/2025 22:03

I unexpectedly had the house to myself! I love being on my own but it doesn't happen very often at the moment. I did a load of cleaning and chores first thing then had the rest of the day in blissful peace and quiet. I even managed an hour's reading. A miracle indeed!
