Things that really should have been invented by now

I'm sick of seeing ads for a nice dress on my feed, clicking 'shop now' only to see it's petite (I'm not), or maternity (no again) 😆. I need an ad blocker that only shows me clothes in my size. Is this too much to ask the fashion bots for??

What else needs to be invented?

<secretly hoping this exists and some clever person can tell me>

A virtual massage machine that fools your brain into 'feeling' that you are being massaged. I'm sure that would do you good as well.

PassingStranger · 15/07/2025 10:11

Something to stop hair growing please.

apparently they are buggers to steer.

I would still like to find that out for myself 😉

And while we are at it, let’s have a conception pill. The body default being no pregnancy unless you take it.

I'm not sure that would be as much fun Grin. However I was lucky and conceived my three fairly quickly but I can see how a conception pill would be good for someone not so lucky.

blobby10 · 15/07/2025 10:28

@NautilusLionfish she can't have surgery on it until she's stopped playing rugby Grin. Her pain threshold it incredibly high so the loss of half a meniscus doesn't stop her doing anything. The scar tissue on her hamstring from the repaired ACL is more of an issue apparently.

Flying car

Just buy a combi?

you still can't use metal when microwaving.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 15/07/2025 11:04

Teleportation! Instant travel to wherever you want in a matter of seconds. No more need for long, uncomfortable flights; school runs and commuting would be a thing of the past, house prices would level out as we could all live wherever we want…yes, this is what I want.

A non-invasive test to replace cervical smears. The current way of doing it is older than me (early 60s).

Treesarenotforeating · 15/07/2025 17:28

@zebediahandthehook that looks amazing but at nearly 3 grand I think I’ll just have to sweat

This exists

Where can I get one? and what is it called?

DirtyBird · 15/07/2025 18:18

A cure for cancer

Something to minimize the effects of aging (i.e. arthritis, lack of energy)

A time machine

Look up "pet grooming vacuum." It is basically clippers and a vacuum. Been around for a decade.

Here's the first one that came up but probably better and cheaper if you shop around

Chatgpt does a fair job at this and tells you what it thinks each item is and what it estimates as a portion size.

Sorry, I know people hate AI.

Edited

I have the OMO app. It does this!

edit: sorry quoted wrong post.

sadly "cancer" is not curable. Many of the different types of cancer are a result of aging. Many people live to a ripe old age and die of something else with an undiagnosed cancer somewhere in their bodies. Same with the effects of aging, bits wear out.

A vacuum that cleans all the way to the edge, rather than leaving 1cm next to the skirting board.

CrustyBread1977 · 14/07/2025 23:10

Front doors that open automatically with a retina scan. I’ve always got five things in my hands so using keys is a pita.

I’ve often thought why house keys can’t be like car keys where you can push a button on a fob rather than manually insert the key.

WhatASweatyBetty · 15/07/2025 20:50

A replacement for road tarmac that is really durable and doesn’t suffer with potholes all the time. Maybe some kind of self healing road surface. Surely this isn’t beyond the realms of possibility these days?

I've seen houses in America that have suction areas on their skirting boards that take anything swept up to the area into a unit outside.

BodenCardiganNot · 15/07/2025 21:15

Cure for tinnitus.

Potholes: Self-healing roads aim to offer solution to crater crisis

Self-healing asphalt roads could soon offer a solution to the UK's pothole crisis, researchers say.

An anti anxiety medication that works on the mind, not just the body like propranolol, that isn’t addictive and life ruining!
