Things that really should have been invented by now

I'm sick of seeing ads for a nice dress on my feed, clicking 'shop now' only to see it's petite (I'm not), or maternity (no again) 😆. I need an ad blocker that only shows me clothes in my size. Is this too much to ask the fashion bots for??

What else needs to be invented?

<secretly hoping this exists and some clever person can tell me>

Dental treatment where you feel absolutely nothing.

Melsy88 · 15/07/2025 07:58

A weed killer that doesn't kill plants.

Melsy88 · 15/07/2025 08:00

Electric car chargers that take seconds

StarlightLady · 15/07/2025 08:15

Something that sorts a period out at the start which takes a few minutes and leaves you feeling OK for the rest of the week. If men had periods it would have been invented.

Southlondonbynature · 15/07/2025 08:21

I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work but....when someone gives you cash and you don't have time to take it to the bank, a cash machine that you can connect to your device and it instantly transfer the money

Then you are left with the money but maybe the machine can shred the money once its showing in the account

CrackOfYawn · 15/07/2025 08:41

Recall Eyeballs, so you could rewind them like Ring doorbell footage and know where you left your keys, or if the straighteners are off. You could also rewatch favourite moments… I suppose that could all get a bit Black Mirror very quickly though 😂

They already can, as long as it isn’t a fork, tin foil etc, I always put a spoon in my porridge rather than awkwardly holding a porridgy spoon for two minutes.

Wait what?? You can put a metal spoon in a microwave but not a metal fork?

I misread this as 'denial treatment'.😂Thought you meant you could completely deny something, eg snaffling the last biscuit, and feel absolutely no guilt.

Bring back the laughing emoji 🤣.

An 'off' switch for periods so that once you've finished having children you can turn the whole system off, no need for contraception, but with no menopause or peri menopause or all the shit that comes with it!!

blobby10 · 15/07/2025 09:13

@NautilusLionfish they have invented artificial synopial fluid - my DD had an injection in her knee as she's lost half her meniscus and it's supposed to help make her knee work more smoothly again. It didn't work at all!!!

And while we are at it, let’s have a conception pill. The body default being no pregnancy unless you take it.

Oh that's a start. I know they inject hyaluronic acid. We keep fingers crossed and best of luck to your daughter. Any meniscus surgery for surgery?

Oh there is a denial treatment. Most politico and super elite are on it 😁

A demisogynyfier (at the press of a button or like a laser or taser)

With how utterly fucking dreadful some people are as parents, (and with shit happening like what happened to Baby Victoria - in the news this week,) I couldn't agree more. Body default should be that you can't get pregnant unless you are prescribed a particular pill.

And you have to go on a one year course to learn about babies and children and how to look after them/nurture them. Give people one of those fake babies they have in Love Island that seems like a real one, and cries and everything. (For a full week.) Give people a taste of what it's like.

And no-one should be allowed more than 2. Apologies to people with 3+, I don't mean any offence, and there are some lovely families with multiple children. We need a law bringing in that no-one is to have more than 2 from now on. The world is already over-populated, and no-one needs more than 2 children. So you need a pill to be able to have a baby, then you can have one more to have your second child. Then that's it.

That would include everyone in the world. Far too many people are born in places where some people can't look after them/can't feed them properly. In other places some people CBA with them - and neglect them.

A microwave that can take metal/tin in it.

Just buy a combi?

sparklychair · 15/07/2025 09:43

A slug and a clothes moth repellent or killer that works as well as those that have been banned.
Mosquitos that don't bite people or carry diseases. I wouldn't want to eradicate them as they are food for many other creatures.

onehorserace · 15/07/2025 09:44

Something up in the sky that charges all my devices without me having to plug them in 😂

Yes, any metal is fine unless it has prongs, or is tinfoil, so a knife is fine too.

SheilaFentiman · 15/07/2025 09:51

I see the not actually Easy Peel tabs and raise you sachets of mayo, ketchup etc that are supposed to be tear open but absolutely are not.

Devilsmommy · 15/07/2025 10:01

A completely accurate way to measure your bra size or failing that invent a bra that you put on and it moulds to your boobs perfectly. Whoever invented that would make billions

NoNewsisGood · 15/07/2025 10:02

Love these!

Certainly agree with the mammogram one - as many on here, things that affect women the most don't seem to get the same attention as things that affect men. I often don't understand why simple things in the realm of 'domestic duties' are not improved upon. Then I remember that not enough men are affected to find it an issue. And, I think women who try to change these things are bogged down with domestic duties too much to give it the focus it requires, or, are ignored by potential investors.

Too often lately I find myself irritated that the tech bros are focusing on going to space or creating art/music/writing instead of things like sorting out a better vacuum solution, or why the washing machine and dishwasher take so long on eco mode.

However, where I live, we do have small grocery (and pharmacy) deliveries if you want - they are delivered by the same company that brings food deliveries. In the main city they also use robots. There is a chain of small supermarkets that also uses robots to bring you some groceries.

They don't, however, use the same technology for library books, which I think is a waste, despite of course funding it (which would be an issue). I can imagine it would be ideal in winter for both busy families and the elderly to order a pick up of books that need returning.

A cool phone that keeps children connected with family and friends but stops them seeing inappropriate online content.
