Things that really should have been invented by now

I'm sick of seeing ads for a nice dress on my feed, clicking 'shop now' only to see it's petite (I'm not), or maternity (no again) 😆. I need an ad blocker that only shows me clothes in my size. Is this too much to ask the fashion bots for??

What else needs to be invented?

<secretly hoping this exists and some clever person can tell me>

A one-off app that will automatically Accept Essential Cookies whenever I access a site.

And yes, a robot vacuum that will do stairs. I'd throw serious money at that.

andherewegoagainonmyown · 14/07/2025 21:03

A reliable printer

Bridport · 14/07/2025 21:05

A toaster that doesn't immediately chuck a pile of crumbs out the minute you've cleaned it and the worktop on which it stands.

Renamed · 14/07/2025 21:06

“A robot vac that can climb stairs”

Or hover? A tiny little housework Dalek that can clean stairs and surfaces, fly up and clear the gutters, and unblock the sink with its plunger!

A shazam app for the clothes people are wearing

Yes!!!!!!!!! I usually do ask people but missed an impressive dress yesterday 😀😀😀

geoger · 14/07/2025 21:09

A silent vacuum cleaner so I can hoover at any time day or night

Iheartmysmart · 14/07/2025 21:09

I read a book years ago that had something called a Glamourtron in it. The lead character hopped out of bed, got in the Glamourtron and appeared 10 minutes later dressed, perfectly made up with her hair done. I always thought one of those would be useful.

And a teleport machine so I can go on holiday without the hell that is the airport and the boredom of flying.

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 14/07/2025 21:09

So many of these!!!! Can’t think of one myself right now but best thread -thank you!

TutTutTutSigh · 14/07/2025 21:10

Hair that doesn't need washing.

Yy to a hay-fever cure and non steam glasses.

Teleportation, but then can you imagine assholes popping up in your house uninvited?? And into bank vaults etc..

An electric blanket that cools instead of heats, would be amazing in this heat with menopausal flushes added

I love this idea. Id buy one.

The ability to move the steering wheel (and obviously the pedals!) to the other side of the car. DH hates driving a UK car abroad so this wojld be great!

DarkIsRelaxing · 14/07/2025 21:12

Self cleaning glasses

MarvellousMonsters · 14/07/2025 21:13

Blackwholesun · 14/07/2025 20:45

A fix to the stupid technical bug that means threads no longer defaults to your last read comment.

Oh god, yes please.

also teleportation.

DarkIsRelaxing · 14/07/2025 21:14

And a suction brush that I can brush the cat and not end up with more fur on me than she has!

Hotel rooms that accept 5 people without charging you for two rooms.
central locking for houses.

Britneyfan · 14/07/2025 21:16

A cure for norovirus! And/or a vaccine!

A damp towel is perfect for this. Takes a bit of getting used to, but it was a lifesaver in the last few heatwaves.

Portals (my mileage is ridiculous!)

They've just put in a new ring road near me that's reduced the journey time to my brother's house from 20 to 5 minutes. We all call it the portal.

Yes!

A hotel with a teeny-tiny bunk bed room, why doesn't that exist? I stayed in an apartment with a sofabed, but it had a maaaassive closet, and a huge hall cupboard too. I'd gladly budge up a bit in the shared space or pay a premium for somewhere to sling my son in his own room.

SparklingMetre · 14/07/2025 21:22

Something I put my health goals into… lose weight, eat clean as possible etc. Then it shows me recipes, I select a few I like for the week. It then creates a shopping list automatically in my Tesco app. AI then refines to it make it the healthiest versions for my budget and I just hit agree and it get delivered at a convenient time.

SisterTeatime · 14/07/2025 21:22

SPF that you take as a tablet and it lasts all day.

SparklingMetre · 14/07/2025 21:23

Something that I can scan all my makeup in.. and then my face and it will somehow show me the best way to apply my make up specially for me.
