Our bedroom is currently 34 degrees im thinking about sleeping downstairs my partner says he's sleeping in the garden. Are you all going to bed as normal or sleeping elsewhere

So hope so
We'd fair amount of rain during the night but it warmed up muggily again by midday & it's returned to being humid here again

HevenlyMeS · 02/07/2025 21:08

Yes totally agree with you
I can't even mention the fact my autoimmune prevents me from being able to regulate my temperature to my father
It's ok for him to winge & moan re his bad circulation when it's cooler
Both are conditions we've no control over
But compassionate understanding is needed when it's too hot & stifilingly muggy, as when it's cold
Thank you for your compassionate enlightenments insigtfulness

HevenlyMeS · 02/07/2025 21:10

Yes most surely I'd love to swap the weather 🙏

HevenlyMeS · 02/07/2025 21:12

Yes absolutely
Thinking of you it's unfair you need to get on tubes in this humid mugginess

Sleeping hot is so uncomfortable. I'm in the USA, midwest, and have AC, thankfully. Temps have absolutely gone up due to global warming. I'm in my 50's, and originally from Pennsylvania. We only had fans in the summertime when I was a kid. You took a bath at night, and slept in light pajamas, with just a sheet, windows open and the sound of crickets chirping through the night. Some houses in the area had sleeping porches, basically verandahs with screening to keep out bugs.

My husband and I used to live on Mount Desert Island in Maine 20+ years ago. Even in the height of summer, you'd wake up with a chill, and need a dressing gown or sweater. It was the reason why people flocked to the island for summer vacations. Our rented cottage was comfortable and breezy, no AC needed. But now, even Downeast Maine has been experiencing heatwaves.

I woke up at 3am and put the duvet on.

Bliss.

I had air con installed two years ago its the best thing ever for heating the house and cooling it not to mention it has a fan and dehumidifier .
Not expensive either to install or run . Amazing and slept fine

Late to the game but I freeze hot water bottles for the children and also wet, wring out and freeze flannels which we have all been thankful for.
The absolute joy of hot flushes in a heatwave is not fun, sadly we have too many burglaries at night where I live to sleep in the garden.

it is easier for your father to warm up , put on warm clothes / slippers / boots and have a hot drink if he’s cold in cold conditions.

Its very difficult to properly cool down when you’re completely overheated 🥵
