What would you bar on MN

Lighthearted obviously .

So if you could bar anything emojis a topic etc on mumsnet what would it be.

I would bar all grammar checkers you know the ones that quote you and tell you to go back to school instant bar.

The constant treads about child maintenance.

And the double standards that women are always right on here.

What would you bar on mumsnet.

The first comment or any comment to be fair quoting the op. We all know who they are replying to. I just don’t get it

SoScarletItWas · 16/05/2025 18:54

Can’t respond, I’m barred due to the lack of punctuation in your post 🤣

I would bar the questions ‘And what did they say when you told them that?’ and anything that requires OP to get a time machine (why did you have children with him, why didn’t you marry a higher earner).

Oh yes the constant why why why.

Namechange

TizerorFizz · 16/05/2025 19:02

Experts. The blinkered ones who know everything apparently. Everything except the ability to engage with others in a conversation.

SloppyThePoodle · 16/05/2025 19:02

It doesn't happen often, but the people who want to disagree with you but instead of saying so, they just say "Wrong." and then tell you why you are wrong. It's so rude and unnecessary and I can't imagine anyone saying it in real life.

Oh and the performative undereaters 🤐

Fetchthevet · 16/05/2025 19:04

People who start their post with Sigh.

DefinitelyMaybe92 · 16/05/2025 19:04

Posters that start a gigantic debate and then just never come back to update.

MignonsMorceaux · 16/05/2025 19:06

Quoting the OP.
Not proof-reading when you draft an OP and leave out obvious detail.
Responding to obvious goaders - derails the thread.
People posting to say that posting about something must mean it's the only thing you care about.
Writing "ect" instead of etc. Makes me think of ectoplasm.

JaneJeffer · 16/05/2025 19:06

I wouldn’t be lighthearted about what I would bar.

Ectoplasm 😂 I know I'm going to do the same thing now when I see "ect"

I would ban people talking about their own feelings if they were in the OP's situation - "well, I would be happy to be invited / have that happen / go there ..."

YES BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE OP - NOT YOU

TheLimeQuail · 16/05/2025 19:16

Laughing at someone. They probably aren’t going to find it funny.
making inferences that weren’t explicitly stated, then making accusations
throwing around the racism card

WhereAreTheWildThingsNow · 16/05/2025 19:19

People who use the following terms:
que

actually just that.

FiveDinnerFelix · 16/05/2025 19:21

I’d ban

People who moan about others who quote the OP.

Creepy, pervy blokes….so that’ll be a lot of them.

The Royal Family board because it’s basically a board dedicated to Meghan and Harry.

Faux naive posts from OPs that are offensive but pretend they don’t understand. Usually it’s racist, ableist etc.

Happyeachday · 16/05/2025 19:23

Just thought of another when all bad behaviour is blamed to sort of SEN.

OP posts:
Oioisavaloy27 · 16/05/2025 19:24

I would bar anyone that links every single little thing to Autism/ADHD when a lot of times things are purely parenting or a child going through a phase or other.

purpleme12 · 16/05/2025 19:27

Just all the people who seem to want to provoke other people and want an argument for the sake of it, just cos they seem to enjoy the back and forth

I just don't get it

gamerchick · 16/05/2025 19:33

Whinging about quoting the OP.

alcoholnightmare · 16/05/2025 19:36

When people start posts with ‘I’ve name changed for this, but I’m a long time lurker - penis beaker etc’. No one cares surely? It’s an anonymous forum.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 16/05/2025 19:38

Smug posts about vanity sizing.

Telling anyone who’s a size 14 that they’re deluded, they are actually an 18 and obese. And that they’ve lost sight of what a normal, slim body looks like.

Fuck. Off.

alcoholnightmare · 16/05/2025 19:38

also, ending a sentence with, no?
surely you don’t feed your children fast food, no?

I live in the SE and no one says statement, no? At the end of a single sentence

Genegeniehunt · 16/05/2025 19:38

ive noticed on 99% of threads about shitty men the op describes them as ‘a good dad’. Id definitely ban the bare minimum = ‘a good dad’ lie.

But no-one actually knows the OP so I think it’s pretty fair to say what they would do in the OP’s situation.

As an extension of this could be when posters state actions of the partner or friends mentioned in an OP, eg, ‘he’s definitely cheating on you there’ or ‘they really aren’t your friends’. A lot of projection from posters’ own lives there, they cannot know these things.
