What would you bar on MN

Lighthearted obviously .

So if you could bar anything emojis a topic etc on mumsnet what would it be.

I would bar all grammar checkers you know the ones that quote you and tell you to go back to school instant bar.

The constant treads about child maintenance.

And the double standards that women are always right on here.

What would you bar on mumsnet.

People who mistake protecting the rights of women and girls for transphobia

People who insist they're not transphobic.

DancingDucks · 17/05/2025 11:40

notatinydancer · 16/05/2025 22:22

‘What did they say when you …’?
No ? At the end of a sentence.

These are at the top of my list. So wanky.

Another one is 'ignore xyz poster', when someone gives a different point of view. Just rude.

I would ban the usual words that lots of people don't like e.g. holibobs so hubster, the phrase 'we're' pregnant.

There's nothing wrong with protecting women's rights. There's everything wrong with being transphobic. We should be protecting everyone's rights imo, not riding roughshod over one group, to make room for another other. I would love to see more harmony, less anger, blame and assumptions.

People who insist you are, are more irritating, i’d wager.

It's like bloody Whack-A-Mole 🤦‍♀️

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 17/05/2025 11:49

People who can’t give any examples of all the transphobia they see.

I don't search usernames, but I do see the same names popping up again and again on certain types of threads.

So that suggests they do post on one type of thread, but you have no way of knowing if they only post on those threads!

I post on many types of thread - I have different usernames for different topics. And other ones if I'm talking about circumstances I've talked about in real life.

AzureOtter · 17/05/2025 11:52

People who don't read the OP properly then make an unhelpful or inflammatory reply.

3 strikes and you're out.

feelingbleh · 17/05/2025 11:54

Asking for medical advice its so dangerous and not helpful.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 17/05/2025 11:55

When someone posts something like “my husband beats me three times a week and screams at the children all the time; theyre terrified of him. He’s just gone out and locked us all in the house. I’ve given the kids some chicken nuggets for dinner while I pack our things. Would I be unreasonable to smash a window to get us out as he’s locked all of those as well?”

first response - omg I can’t believe you feed your kids chicken nuggets!!!! They're full of UPF”

Spidey66 · 17/05/2025 11:55

Dog hating threads. Far too many of them.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 17/05/2025 11:55

Women have every right to be angry. We’re a bit tired of the moralising, and get fed up of being told to just sit there and watch while our human rights are being taken away.

We’re making no assumptions, either. The TRA’s are incredibly vocal and aggressive about their demands; and are very graphic in their responses to being told ‘no’.
Do you not see the way that they behave, and the things they say to JK Rowling?

namechangeGOT · 17/05/2025 11:55

I would ban any comment on sexual acts.

Now, I don’t mean we can’t talk about sex but I’m taking about when one woman describes something she and her partner enjoy doing that is out of the ordinary you can guarantee someone will come on and say it’s ‘gross’, ‘porn fuelled’, ‘demeaning’. Something I regularly enjoy doing was described as ‘ghastly’ the other day. But the worst one BY FAR is the women that tell other women ‘no woman possibly can enjoy that, you must just be doing it for him the dirty man beast’. I fucking hate it.

Namechange

One of the reason there are so many trolls on here. There are so many posters who NC and retell their story leaving out important information when nobody agrees with them, why are they not banned! I can think of several who have got away with it for years!

MignonsMorceaux · 17/05/2025 11:56

Fake misunderstanding when someone spells something wrong or uses a wrong word.

My brain genuinely finds it hard to determine in some sentences. I read things literally by default and would find it a bit arrogant to automatically assume someone has made a mistake and meant to write something they didn't actually write. Now obviously this depends on context and the meaning of bought/brought a house is obvious.

But sometimes it's less clear-cut (eg if someone "borrows" something but they mean 'lent') - in those circumstances I'd rather ask for clarification than assume I know better than OP what they could have written.

I wouldn't be a dick about it though!

I think you're probably replying to me, which means I haven't been clear at all and re-reading my post, I don't think I have.

I completely agree with you. I find that it's not really women more prone to anger and accusations in relation to this issue.

MignonsMorceaux · 17/05/2025 11:58

"Line eyes"
"Nub theory"

Omg yes Grin

MignonsMorceaux · 17/05/2025 11:59

Oh and "limerence" <rips eyes out>

AzureOtter · 17/05/2025 12:01

'Nurse/Dr/solicitor here'

It just makes the poster sound so self-important and since this is an anonymous forum where anyone can claim to be anything, they just sound silly.

And in many cases, they give completely incorrect information anyway.

IceLollyMolly · 17/05/2025 12:03

Speaking as a man, this is what I find sexually attractive blah blah...

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 17/05/2025 12:05

Asking questions when the answers are in the original post or title.

Telling someone to move when they have posted about a temporary change of income.

Telling someone they shouldn't have had so many kids when a circumstance has changed.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 17/05/2025 12:12

Cat photos.

No one needs a fucking cat photo.

AzureOtter · 17/05/2025 12:12

Telling someone to call Womens aid, or the RSPCA or the local mental health crisis team when the person suggesting it clearly doesn't have any idea what those organisations or services do, or whom they are for.

Same goes for 'log it' with 101.
