What would you bar on MN

Lighthearted obviously .

So if you could bar anything emojis a topic etc on mumsnet what would it be.

I would bar all grammar checkers you know the ones that quote you and tell you to go back to school instant bar.

The constant treads about child maintenance.

And the double standards that women are always right on here.

What would you bar on mumsnet.

OP posts:

The words 'grim' and 'vile'

ARichtGoodDram · 16/05/2025 21:15

Fake misunderstanding when someone spells something wrong or uses a wrong word.

Sometimes it's just eye-rollingly rude.

However, sometimes it's downright vile. Will never forget the poor poster who posted that she'd been punched in the face by her partner and she was panicking about finances because they'd just "brought" a house and all her savings were used for the deposit.

A very regular poster posted in the second or third reply "I'm confused, you brought your house? Where did you bring your house?"

Every time I've seen them post since I think of that thread and how much of an utter thundercunt they were.

ARichtGoodDram · 16/05/2025 21:16

"Americanism"

Just because it wasn't common place in England when you were a kid doesn't make it American 😂

Especially things that Scottish and Irish immigrants to America took with them and still happen in Scotland and Ireland at Halloween

StarDolphins · 16/05/2025 21:20

‘Can you link the data for that’🙄

Maddy70 · 16/05/2025 21:28

Transphobic posts. Honestly it's disturbing and anyone with a fairer viewpoint is shot down on flames. I would actually get rid of the feminism board. It's so extreme. It's far from supporting feminism

Maddy70 · 16/05/2025 21:31

Toddlerteaplease · 16/05/2025 20:01

I’d ban the feminism board!

Yes!!!

cantthinkofausername26 · 16/05/2025 21:35

The ‘Terry’ or ‘Jimmy’? baby names posts 🙄

PansyPottering · 16/05/2025 21:36

Saying ‘my husband thinks…..’ and then saying something that ten people have already said.

TinyTempest · 16/05/2025 21:39

"I have a friend I usually go to dinner with, we'll call her Beryl".

No 'we' won't because I don't feel as though I had any say in it and if I did, I would've chosen a different name" 🤷‍♂️🤣

TinyTempest · 16/05/2025 21:41

Oh and all the (m) and (f) in brackets.

I (25f) and my husband (26m) etc.

Well yes, we know he's '(m)' because the clue is in the bloody word 'husband'! 🤦‍♀️

Overtheatlantic · 16/05/2025 21:43

The “You do know…” and then stating whatever they think the OP should know but is too stupid to figure out. “You do know that not all (fill in the blank)”

Fizbosshoes · 16/05/2025 21:48

Take in ironing
Sell stuff on eBay
Become a childminder
Move to a cheaper area
As suggestions to how can I make money quickly

Also the words vile and grim!
Sorry just seen you beat me to it @ImFineItsAllFine 😊

MostlyGhostly · 16/05/2025 21:50

Threads moaning about VAT on public/ private schools 🙄

CountryQueen · 16/05/2025 21:52

Posters who are clearly out of touch but think they’re the expert in something because their precious offspring are barristers or doctors etc. Embarrassing

drspouse · 16/05/2025 21:53

I'd ban using Chat GPT. If we wanted to put our answer into AI and get an answer we'd not bother coming on Mumsnet.

GarlicPile · 16/05/2025 21:55

Maddy70 · 16/05/2025 21:28

Transphobic posts. Honestly it's disturbing and anyone with a fairer viewpoint is shot down on flames. I would actually get rid of the feminism board. It's so extreme. It's far from supporting feminism

Yep. Women's rights are transphobic and feminism's about taking care of men's feelings. I think that's been made amply clear.

============================

I'd also ban everyone who manages to insert 'transphobia' into every second thread ...

HotHoney · 16/05/2025 21:56

First post nails it. Fuck off, you’re boring.

Also wow just wow and anyone saying Hubs/Hubby

ChocHotolate · 16/05/2025 21:56

Threads which descend into a “which celebrity would play which character” in the scenario in the OP. Instant ban

HotHoney · 16/05/2025 21:58

Am I missing something?

Said with wide eyed fake naivety

IceLollyMolly · 16/05/2025 21:59

Posters rushing over to say " This is why I didn't have children" when some poor mum is struggling with a baby or toddler or SN child. Not helpful.

Middleagedstriker · 16/05/2025 22:03

FiveDinnerFelix · 16/05/2025 19:21

I’d ban

People who moan about others who quote the OP.

Creepy, pervy blokes….so that’ll be a lot of them.

The Royal Family board because it’s basically a board dedicated to Meghan and Harry.

Faux naive posts from OPs that are offensive but pretend they don’t understand. Usually it’s racist, ableist etc.

Edited

I would ban people, that moan about people, that quote the OP.

They very obviously actually are the type of people that quote the OP. 😁

lljkk · 16/05/2025 22:05

Lighthearted, lighthearted, lighthearted...

How about the 'how clean is your...' (anything) threads. I just don't care.

Actually they don't need to be banned for everyone, just removed from my feed. That would be fine.

MaryGreenhill · 16/05/2025 22:07

Trolls, perverts, narcs and ppl who resurrect Zombie threads.

Crumpleton · 16/05/2025 22:07

People that have an opinion but won't allow others to have one.

The use of words like mother in law/in laws/husband when you're not married.

Thunderpants88 · 16/05/2025 22:12

GarlicPile · 16/05/2025 19:40

Not all that light-hearted, this one: people getting involved in discussions on Big Issues to argue entirely, repeatedly, from their personal and emotional perspective. Policies shouldn't be based on individuals' sad feelings and it's pretty despicable to dismiss wider considerations. I'd ban posters after two heart-rending pleas on any one topic.

I'm well in favour of ban-hammering OP quotes! Also walls of unbroken text and posts with minimal punctuation they make it so hard to read and understand what the poster wants to say especially if it involves a sequence of events that turn out to be important but were buried in a whole bunch of feelings if you know what I mean I don't know about you but it's difficult to reply to a spate of word vomit stream of consciousness is a valid literary style but there's a reason it's considered among the most challenging styles to pull off successfully and in any case it isn't usually devoid of breaks and punctuation I mean this is just so frustrating wouldn't you agree .!

Also time machine posts 😂 It's quite well-known these days that children can't be sent back for a refund.

You do realise you just did a wall of unbroken text!?!
