What would you bar on MN

Lighthearted obviously .

So if you could bar anything emojis a topic etc on mumsnet what would it be.

I would bar all grammar checkers you know the ones that quote you and tell you to go back to school instant bar.

The constant treads about child maintenance.

And the double standards that women are always right on here.

What would you bar on mumsnet.

Posters who aren’t interested in a thread and feel it’s their duty to TELL the OP that they aren’t interested. Bugger off then and let the rest of us talk about Brad Pitt’s belly button fluff or whatever.

housinglife · 16/05/2025 20:26

Anyone who uses the word ‘ick’ .

pictoosh · 16/05/2025 20:27

"And you had children with this man, why?"

Fuck off you smug, sanctimonious, vindictive prick.

Ddakji · 16/05/2025 20:31

People who don’t read all the OP’s posts before posting.

People who start their post “eh?” before going on to be utterly obtuse.

People who “can’t see the issue”.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/05/2025 20:01

I’d ban the feminism board!

God forbid women should talk to other women about women’s rights .

sunnydayz43 · 16/05/2025 20:33

I don't know if this is a regular thing or not, but I wonder why some OPs post two separate posts with slightly different headings that mean the same thing, along with an identical post to the one posted earlier the same day, which got zero responses.
I'm not saying they should be banned it's just that I've noticed more of these lately.
I get that they're casting their net wider to get a response ; just wondered.

ThejoyofNC · 16/05/2025 20:34

I'd ban posters who write out an OP fully expecting people to back them up, then spend the next 20 posts backtracking and changing their story when they're told that they're the unreasonable one.

I'd also ban people who ask if they're being unreasonable then argue black and blue that they're in the right after being told otherwise. Why even ask if you're not prepared for the answer?

Happyeachday · 16/05/2025 20:35

DIL DH DSD DS DP DEXP DEXH CM STBX SAHM etc can we use words and not morse code all bared.

verycloakanddaggers · 16/05/2025 20:38

I'd ban all SPAG pedantry except in Pedants' Corner. Instant deletion.

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 16/05/2025 20:39

People who complain about people who complain about people who quote the OP in their response.

Don't forget the worst of the worst, DDog. I genuinely cannot understand why people do it.

Gall10 · 16/05/2025 20:41

OP..DH…DS…DD…FIL…OH…EH…SC…all the bloody initials instead of just saying son, daughter etc etc.

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 16/05/2025 20:43

People who see a thread about a recently deceased non-household-name celebrity whom they personally have never heard of - and then feel that it would be extremely helpful to actively click on that thread and then enlighten everybody on the thread that they have never heard of them.

"And you had children with this man, why?"

Fuck off you smug, sanctimonious, vindictive prick.

Sometimes it’s a fair question when someone is moaning about their deadbeat cocklodger poor excuse for a father partner who’s been like that since baby number one and they’re on to baby number four.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 16/05/2025 20:46

When someone puts a post on and someone asks a goady question missing the entire point of the post like like 'are you often this anxious/aggressive/hungry?'
Get in the bin!

Happyasarainbow · 16/05/2025 20:48

Posts that should be a Google search. Double banned if people give them a relevant NHS or Gov link and they still keep asking to be spoon fed information.

Read one recently who was adamant that they wanted other posters' personal perspectives on whether they were legally trying to remove their tenant rather than actually reading the law.

I think comments like that serve as good advice for women in a similar relationship who may be contemplating children / more children with an abusive partner. We need more people to bluntly call out the insanity of choosing certain men as fathers. MN has been an absolute eye opener as to how low the bar truly is for some.

Ddakji · 16/05/2025 20:33

Indeed. Plus, hardly "light hearted".

JudgeBread · 16/05/2025 20:50

Threads about "am I eating enough" or "is this enough calories?". They're just eating disorder minefields and rarely helpful or actually useful. Saw some woman who'd been hospitalised with a 16BMI at one point in her life being told to maybe cut bananas and potatoes from her diet. At that point it's borderline harmful and dangerous.

No they don't.
They serve as a high-handed, unhelpful, bitchy comment chiding someone for something they didn't anticipate and cannot change.
Useless.

Danikm151 · 16/05/2025 20:52

The under eaters who tell OP how to diet because of course ever body has the same metabolism.

High earners who wonder how they will cope with £2,000 disposable income a week as surely those are poverty levels.

NotMyRealAccount · 16/05/2025 20:52

Men, even the nice ones. I know "Mumsnet is for everyone", but it wouldn't be if I was in charge.

Bananararity · 16/05/2025 20:55

The ‘first post nails it’ decree. Ok. Great. The rest of us can fuck off then.

Danikm151 · 16/05/2025 20:55

“ExDH”

Well he’s not your bloody darling husband if he’s your ex!!!
