He’s had a stroke following a number of open heart surgeries to repair and replace his heart valves. I can’t breathe, I overheard them say terminal stroke. I love him so much.

I'm so sorry, praying for peace and strength for you at this time.

MrsJoanDanvers · 15/05/2025 21:23

I’m so so sorry to read this. You obviously love him very deeply and this is the worst thing in the world. I hope there is someone in your family/friends who can help you right now. Am just so sorry xxxx

Hysterectomynext · 15/05/2025 21:23

I’m so deeply sorry for you and your family. It must be so shocking and heartbreaking.
I hope you are now with your son and that your family can be together and support each other and your lovely husband.
No words can offer much but I’m thinking of you all.

BoiledOrRoastPotatoes · 15/05/2025 21:24

I’m so sorry. I wish I could say something to take some pain away for you.

WetBandits · 15/05/2025 21:29

Oh OP I’m so sorry 😞 my heart hurts so much for you.

You absolutely can climb into bed with him if that’s what you want to do, just ask one of the nurses caring for him to help you. I have helped many people climb carefully into bed with their spouses for those much-needed extra cuddles. I’ll be keeping you all in my thoughts tonight ❤️

Lubilu02 · 15/05/2025 21:33

I'll be thinking of you.

Just remember his soul is still here and, as others have said, he will still probably be able to hear you.

He is young, and that will work in his favour.

If it were me, I'd be telling him he needs to wake up, try to move his fingers, wiggle his toes. I know it sounds a bit out there, but miracles do happen, and being as young as he is with children as young as yours, he has everything to live for. Play music to him that evokes emotion for him or have a familiar scent nearby.

I will keep everything crossed for you, and no matter what happens you will all be there with him, telling him how much you love him and at the end of the day that's all we can ever wish for when it's our time to move from this world to the next.

Sending you and your family an abundance of love x

I am 4 hours from home, alone, and my husband is dying. If you haven’t got anything kind to say then please go away.

I am so sorry OP.

What kind of creature says something unkind at this time? Evil walks amongst us.

vegantart · 15/05/2025 21:46

I’m so sorry op.

Clairegreenhen · 15/05/2025 21:55

Couldn't read your post and not respond, so sorry OP, it must all be a terrible shock for you, I hope you have good support around you and be gentle with yourself and your children. There are kind people in the world and no one is judging you

BluesandClues · 15/05/2025 22:03

OP, I’m so sorry, I’m so unbelievably sorry.

I don’t know if you have any sort of faith, but please know that I will offer up some prayers for you and your family at this horrendously sad time.

Have an unmumsnetty hug, and please know that the hospital normally has a bereavement team that you can ask for help and support from. They also normally have chaplain volunteers from all manner of faiths. You don’t have to have any kind of faith to ask for support by the way, they’re for anyone to access.

measureofmydreams · 15/05/2025 22:04

I'm so very sorry this is happening to you, sending you hugs. I had the same with my DF last month. The shock takes your breath away. Surround yourself with people you love if you can. Thinking of you.

blackpear · 15/05/2025 22:06

Oh OP, I'm so sorry. You won't look like an idiot at all. I hope some kind person has offered you a hug. Sending you a virtual hug xxx

blondiepigtails · 15/05/2025 22:14

Juja · 15/05/2025 22:23

Thinking of you in the coming hours - so very very tough for you and your children.

ChasingRainbows8 · 15/05/2025 22:24

I am so sorry you are feeling this pain. My dad passed away last week with me and my mum by his side, holding him and telling him how much we loved him. Sending you strength in this difficult time.
