He’s had a stroke following a number of open heart surgeries to repair and replace his heart valves. I can’t breathe, I overheard them say terminal stroke. I love him so much.

OP posts:

So sorry to hear this. He is far too young. There aren't words enough to comfort you.

Just seen this thread. I don't think there is anything I can say that hasn't already been said. There just are no words for such a tragedy. 💔

But I just wanted to add that I am so sorry that you, your DH and your family are going through this.

My thoughts are with you.

Sending you lots of love and please reach out here when you feel ready. You will have all the support you could wish for 🌹

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 16/05/2025 08:37

ApolloandDaphne · 16/05/2025 08:37

I am so sorry. It must be absolutely devastating for you and your family.

lifeisgoodrightnow · 16/05/2025 08:42

Being with your children is exactly the right thing to do x please be ever so gentle with yourself x

cooldarkroom · 16/05/2025 08:48

I am so sorry you are living this.
Please hold on to the good memories of the cruise. of himself.

My husband survived this scenario, believe me, if cruel, it would have ben so much better if he had passed.
He is not & never will again be present with his children, or his own life.

She's had to go to her children.

I think you might want to get your post deleted, it's very insensitive to say the least.

OP I am so sorry to read this, your wonderful husband is so, so young.

I know nothing can ease your pain, but wanted to add another stranger is really thinking about you, your children and your husband right now x

He’s 48, I can’t imagine having that conversation x

OP I didn’t think l would be able to face such a conversation but when the time came l knew in my heart it was something he would have wanted and that made it easier to say yes. They were incredibly respectful and it was somehow comforting to know that a part of him was still here and functioning, and helping someone else. But it’s a decision only you can make, and you know him best.

I’m assuming your husband is on a ventilator, and if so, l can tell you that they will ask you to wait outside while they remove it. Then when you see him he will just have the usual trace monitor screen attached. They will draw the curtains around the bed to give you privacy and the monitors will be placed outside so that staff can keep an eye on things.

It will be peaceful as they will have given him appropriate medication - my own husband looked as though he was sleeping peacefully and his breathing gradually slowed and then stopped. There was no distress and no pain. One thing l remember was one of his nurses telling me to keep talking to him, because they think hearing is there until the very end. One of the things that kept me going was the hope that one of the last voices he heard was mine and that l’d said everything he wanted and needed to hear.

It’s only at times like these that we discover strength in ourselves that we never knew we had. You will find that strength today OP, l promise you, and you will get through it. You and your family are in my thoughts today and l’m sure l speak for everyone here when l say we’re all here to support you.x

That’s a very moving and thoughtful post, in particular given you’ve directly experienced this

LivingwithHopenowandforever · 16/05/2025 09:14

I lost my sibling a couple of years ago and he was younger than your husband. It was hard and continues to be so but every day you get up & continue and support one another.

My heart goes out to you and your family and I shall be thinking of you all.

Please know that we are all here for you when you need us.

Sending you so much love and strength ❤️
