Are there any previous Eurovision songs you still listen to?

I was just having a browse through the thread about how bad our entry is this year (and it is!) and it got me thinking about how even though Eurovision is a cheese fest it has produced some brilliant songs in it's time.
The following alone all feature on my Spotify playlist:

Euphoria by Lorren
Only Teardrops by Emilie De Forest
Ooh AHH Just a Little by Gina G
Love Shine a Light by Katrina and the Waves
Eg A Life by Eythor Ingi.

Anyone else got any Eurovision bangers they can recommend?

Only one. Waterloo. Best Eurovision song ever.

MrsJRHartley · 13/05/2025 15:16

Spaceman
Un banc, un arbre, une rue

Seagullsandsausagerolls · 13/05/2025 15:18

I've a weakness for Gina G and Johnny Logan Hold me Now.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 13/05/2025 15:19

I have a soft spot for Bucks Fizz - Making Your Mind Up

afaloren · 13/05/2025 15:24

Lots already mentioned but I also love the ‘I believe in a fairytale’ with the violin, the French one with the running and ‘Ok Happy End’ (Ukraine I think). I love a Eurovision song.

Feelingstrange2 · 13/05/2025 15:27

Was that Nena 99 red balloons a euro vision entry? If it was, this is probably my favourite

Waterloo of.course.

And Congratulations (Cliff), Johnny Logans entries, Bucks Fizz and Sandie Shaw I think! Not that I listen because they were eurovision but because they are on the radio occasionally. In fact, I may even be misremembering and they weren't euro songs at all

SummertimeFeelingFine · 13/05/2025 15:27

I remember Johnny Logan and Hold Me Now. Loved that as a young girl.

The only one I routinely listen to now is Waterloo. ABBA is a cut above everyone else.

Do you know of any Spotify recording of un banc, un arbre?
It's one of the first Eurovision songs I remember from my childhood and I love it.

LittleLlama · 13/05/2025 15:32

"Spirit in the Sky" - Keiino (still cannot believe this didn’t win)!

I love Hold Me Now but had no idea it was a Eurovision entry 🙈

Johnny Logan entered twice

WildCherryBlossom · 13/05/2025 15:37

I listen to some Eurovision artists, although not necessarily their Eurovision entries. Eg t.A.T.u. and Maneskin and sometimes Katrina and the Waves. Spaceman was actually quite a good song too.

SoloSofa24 · 13/05/2025 15:38

"Think about things", the Icelandic one that would probably have won in 2020 if Eurovision hadn't been cancelled due to the pandemic:

Lostinidea · 13/05/2025 15:38

@Feelingstrange2 I'm not aware that 99 Red Balloons was a Eurovision entry but it's still a great tune.

Cliff, Sandie, Bucks Fizz and apparently Johnny Logan definitely were.

Great entry but they didn't win.

Dancing Lasha Tumbai - Ukraine 2007
Hard Rock Hallelujah - Finland 2006
Flying the Flag - UK 2007
No rules - Finland 2024
Rim Tim Tagi Dim - Croatia 2024

so random but all make me smile 😆

“ What’s Another Year?” by Johnny Logan
” Waterloo” by Abba
Can’t remember the artist but the song is something like “ Phoenix From The Ashes”

Do you mean Conchita?

Lostinidea · 13/05/2025 15:47

Diva by Dana International is another one I forgot to add to the list.

@RabbitsRock I think the song title is Rise Like a Phoenix.

Wild Dances by Ruslana (2004 winner)

Babaganoush2013 · 13/05/2025 15:51

Regarding our UK entry, it seems to be going down very well with the rest of Europe when reading the comments.
These ladies come from singing/West End backgrounds so will clearly be able to project their voices.
No, it's not my favourite song, but it's fun and probably what we need right now.
