Are there any previous Eurovision songs you still listen to?

I was just having a browse through the thread about how bad our entry is this year (and it is!) and it got me thinking about how even though Eurovision is a cheese fest it has produced some brilliant songs in it's time.
The following alone all feature on my Spotify playlist:

Euphoria by Lorren
Only Teardrops by Emilie De Forest
Ooh AHH Just a Little by Gina G
Love Shine a Light by Katrina and the Waves
Eg A Life by Eythor Ingi.

Anyone else got any Eurovision bangers they can recommend?

I've got a whole playlist on Spotify of my favourite ones if anyone wants it. Happy eurovision week everyone! May your country not come last

Only one. Waterloo. Best Eurovision song ever.

This. I'm old enough to remember the (jaw dropping) original performance and reaction on the night.

SanFranBear · 13/05/2025 15:55

And this year's Estonian entry (Latte Machiatto by Tommy Cash) is a complete ear-worm!

101jobs · 13/05/2025 15:56

Grande Amore. Sung by Il Volo

Lostinidea · 13/05/2025 15:38

@Feelingstrange2 I'm not aware that 99 Red Balloons was a Eurovision entry but it's still a great tune.

Cliff, Sandie, Bucks Fizz and apparently Johnny Logan definitely were.

I wonder now if perhaps Nena sang it in the interval one year as entertainment from the hosting nation. As for some reason I always think.of it as eurovision but equally I always question myself!

runwithme · 13/05/2025 15:58

Maneskins song Zitti E Buoni. In fact, I listen on all their songs. They are amazing live, so much energy

Mumsntfan1 · 13/05/2025 16:03

Ofra Haza, Chai. Israel 1983. Great song and singer.

And the UK gave it no points.

I wonder if people are somehow getting it confused with Ein Bisschen Frieden (a little peace), a German song with a female vocalist which won the Eurovision around the same time (early 1980s)? Or possibly just that most of the very few European songs which made it into the UK charts were Eurovision ones, so people just assume that a German song popular in the UK must have been Eurovision?

mathanxiety · 13/05/2025 16:15

@CatMumBat

I'd love to have a listen if you're willing to share.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/05/2025 16:16

One Step Further - Bardot. They woz robbed

TobiasForgesContactLense · 13/05/2025 16:16

Why has no one mentioned "Give that wolf a banana". Best Eurovision song ever and a great one for making you smile at the silliness.

I also love Tattoo by Loreen.

mathanxiety · 13/05/2025 16:16

Ein bisschen frieden and All kinds of everything, mentioned by Allseeingallknowing

mathanxiety · 13/05/2025 16:17

Yy to the banana song!

Lengokengo · 13/05/2025 16:17

Shum ( Ukraine 2021)
spirit in the sky (Norway 2019)
waterloo (Sweden 1974)
Making your mind up ( UK 1981)

CraftandGlamour · 13/05/2025 16:18

I have a few faves but Loreen's Tattoo and Euphoria are my favourites. And Spaceman was fantastic. He should've won.

Does anyone know the best place to catch this year's songs? Is there a two-night semi-finals thingy this week? I've not caught any of the songs this year including our own (but my expectations are duly lowered)

Happy Eurovision week!
