Are there any previous Eurovision songs you still listen to?

I was just having a browse through the thread about how bad our entry is this year (and it is!) and it got me thinking about how even though Eurovision is a cheese fest it has produced some brilliant songs in it's time.
The following alone all feature on my Spotify playlist:

Euphoria by Lorren
Only Teardrops by Emilie De Forest
Ooh AHH Just a Little by Gina G
Love Shine a Light by Katrina and the Waves
Eg A Life by Eythor Ingi.

Anyone else got any Eurovision bangers they can recommend?

Volare.

@mathanxiety Un banc, un arbre, une rue is definitely on Spotify as I have it on my Eurovision playlist.

My favourite winners were Vicky Leandros - Après Toi and La Det Swinge by Bobbysox.

I either like a big ballad not sung in English or some catchy Europop.

I remember my mother being scandalised at Abba's costumes as it had previously been evening gowns and dinner suits 😅

Loads already mentioned (I too have a playlist!), but one that hasn't been is Take Me To Your Heaven by Charlotte Nilssen which won in 1999. Absolute cheese fest!

I just listened to this as I have no memory of it. It's absolute fondue levels of cheese but I love it! And she gets extra points for the nostalgia blast her utterly dreadful outfit brought to me 😁.

Dragostea Din Tei

Was that in Eurovision? I remember the video and the yodelling!

Itawapuddytat · 13/05/2025 17:28

Lordi - "Hard Rock Hallellujah" 😎😈🎸

It always makes me feel happy! I'm a primary school TA, and my Y1s did their morning wake-up dance to it this morning. I think the class teacher may be regretting letting me choose a different Eurovision song each morning this week Grin

At one point I'm sure he's trying to flag down a bus! Apparently they wanted live chickens but it isn't permitted under Eurovision rules...probably for the best, I'm not sure anyone could handle it getting even weirder! 🐓

Absolutely! Even forgive them the dodgy grammar “i could have tooken one step!

Had the single. Played it loads😊

RaraRachael · 13/05/2025 17:37

Dragostea Din Tei is a great song but it wasn't in Eurovision.

My daughter loved it and sang along with her own approximation of the words. She's now 34 and could probably still do it 😁

Cinai2 · 13/05/2025 17:37

Rise like a phoenix

SummertimeFeelingFine · 13/05/2025 17:40

Hard Rock Hallelujah was cool. But I don't listen to it.

Yiayoula · 13/05/2025 17:46

Someone up thread mentioned “Non ho l’eta”, which is my earliest Eurovision memory and my all-time favourite.
My dear old Dad was in Italy during WW2, and he wrote out the lyrics for me - I felt very smug being able to sing it in school on the Monday morning!

Fernticket · 13/05/2025 17:46

Waterloo
Making your mind up
Nocturne
Hallelujah (Milk and Honey, Israel).
Rise like a Phoenix
Rock Bottom (UK entry 1977).
Give that Wolf a Banana.
One Step Further.
Ding a Dong ( Teach-in, Netherlands).
Spaceman.
Save your Kisses for me

Love Eurovision, loads of great songs listed already, but I don’t think anyone has mentioned Snap by Rosa Linn yet?

Agree that Baby Lasagna (Rim Tim Tagi Dim) and Keiino (Spirit in the Sky) should have won in their years.

thecatneuterer · 13/05/2025 17:56

Love Love Peace Peace (if that counts)
Rise Like a Phoenix

thecatneuterer · 13/05/2025 17:58

PrincessAnne5Eva · 13/05/2025 16:23

Rim tim tagi dim from last year. Baby Lasagna should have won it and I won't hear different. 😅

Totally agree

ifherbumwereabungalow · 13/05/2025 17:59

Ten Years by Dadi Freyr, absolute favourite of recent years. Another that lives rent free in my head, which I can’t even remember the title of but the opening lines were ‘Peter is smart, he knows each European country by heart’. Apologies if someone has already named it.

Honnomushi · 13/05/2025 18:06

Ulveham by Gate was a banger of a track & I think it was a travesty that it got null points. I bought the album & love it

runwithme · 13/05/2025 15:58

Maneskins song Zitti E Buoni. In fact, I listen on all their songs. They are amazing live, so much energy

Yes. Life them and loved them at Eurovision.

user0987637829 · 13/05/2025 18:13

I love City Lights by Blanche (Belgium, 2017) and Arcade by Duncan Laurence.

Not Eurovision songs per se but the all of the songs from the Eurovision film with Will Ferrell are amazing. Our act this year have done a cover of Husavik song which is so good!!

AlphabetBird · 13/05/2025 18:20

Both of the Loreen entries are absolute bangers, and come up on running playlists a lot

Deathraystare · 13/05/2025 18:30

Maneskin
Abba
Lordi
That - was it Ukrainian entry where a trans type wore foil - that was funny
The wolf and bananas one

magpiemagical · 13/05/2025 18:33

@LostinideaI listen to Euphoria and Eg a Life too. Also listen to Romania ‘It’s my life’ and Azerbaijan ‘start a fire’ and Armenia ‘Not Alone’. I remember Only Teardrops.

magpiemagical · 13/05/2025 18:34

Oh and my DC are still obsessed with Give that wolf a banana!!!
