I absolutely fell down a rabbit hole reading about LJ yesterday evening. I'd forgotten all about her and Samantha Brick. Is Shona Sibury still doing the rounds too? Been years since I looked at the Daily Fail

From reading LJs books- that context of her whole life in one sitting- it’s clear to me she’s very likely a sexual or at least, uninterested in sex (of course, her anorexia hugely influences the way she feels about it) I’d be amazed if she’d had a one night stand in her life, and there is no way it was with MH.

It was almost like a parody of how to piss off your neighbours. Stopped reading her I realised how awful the Daily Heil is.

Now, if I accidentally see one, I'll scan it to see what she says about how rich / poor / lonely / amazingly amazing she is.
Strikes me as a sad person & tbh a bit of a screwed up life.

Well obviously nobody knows for sure, not even you, but she has mentioned the supposed ONS with MH lots of times and only she knows if it's true or not. My thinking is she wishes it was true.

She seems to have rediscovered sex since she got together with "The German" and she used to discuss her sex life with Nirpal. There's no way she's asexual. As for MH, she has mentioned that supposed ONS many times. Only she knows the truth behind that story

Her relationship issues, her 'the countryside is too dirty' stuff - that's all her schtick, to be outrageous and unfiltered. It's not real. She's a product of a particular moment in women's magazine 'journalism' in the 90s.

She's like a performance artist really - her misery, self-loathing, other-loathing, and oversharing is her art.

What's awful is the impact that her snobbery and internalised misogyny has had on, presumably, hundreds of thousands of other women.

She’s discussed her awkward and dreaded sex life with nirpal, for sure. Her books are from a time when she wasn’t full as as much outrageous bullshit and she was open about her lack of relationships and sexual experience.

of course only she knows about MH but he died before she was editor of MC, and whilst it’s entirely possible MH was snagging random unknown journos, she was hardly part of the scene, or well known

that said. I also don’t believe she stole his sperm, which makes no sense in light of her overwhelming body issues and her detailed explorations into adoption when they were together

buy of course, people are complex and don’t always give a full picture so who knows

I believe she owned her house in Hackney (where she was based when she wrote single girl diaries) she was, I believe, made bankrupt and the house must’ve been sold to repay that as she moved up north around that time

there is much narrative that she’s paid 6 figures for her mOS column, and she’s been doing it for many, many years (decades?) so I really don’t see why she couldn’t buy a house that was on the market for £300k, unless she’s completely unable to get any kind of mortgage.
