Wow! I love Liz. Her writing is superb. I can see from this thread that she isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (who is) but she’s a fantastic writer. She has won loads of awards over the years and has had an incredibly successful career.

I buy the MoS specifically to read her column in the supplement (the paper itself is binned). I look forward to it massively every Sunday.

@MrsTigerface don't buy the MOS, on Saturdays google "Liz Jones Diary" you can read it then, if you get the adverts or asked to subscribe use "reader view" (if iPhone or iPad). That's how I do it!

Read her last column (randomly got the mag somewhere) & it read like pure fantasy… Also, where would she get the money for a private detective? And where dies she meet these men?!

I’m amazed anyone likes this woman. She has slagged off everybody she has ever been related to, friends with, or in a relationship with.
She has an enormous superiority complex and judges women entirely on their appearance.
Whilst supposedly an animal lover she is actually entirely focused on what they can do for her ie fill her empty life rather than what is best for them.
I would describe her as an animal collector/hoarder because she adds in new ones with no thought to those she already has. One of her new dogs ripped one of her poor old cats to bits.
About the only person who has stuck with her longterm is her poor assistant Nic and that is likely because she is paid. Even Nic’s loyalty doesn’t mean she escapes ridicule because she isn’t considered thin enough.
She pleads poverty and plays poor me whilst dropping £1000s on bloody candles and organic hampers. Not to mention a small mortgage on having her bits waxed, roots dyed and eyebrows threaded all at the most expensive london salons if a man happens to so much as glance in her direction.
She gives vegetarians and vegans a bad name by lecturing everyone else and thinks anyone who eats more than an apple and two twigs a day is a disgusting glutton.
In case of doubt, I am not a fan.

Judging by this thread, she sounds very divisive. I'd never heard of Liz Jones, so I looked her up. I gather she is an OAP who retired to the country, and writes "warts and all" columns about her neighbours.

It's not clear how she brings joy to the world, but obviously some people like her... warts and all.

OP, the Trans Pennine train from Manchester to Huddersfield to York doesn’t go via Wakefield. There is a chugger from Huddersfield to York that goes round the houses (including Wakefield) but you said she was already on it. You also mentioned she tapped her pass but you can’t pay on those trains. Is that you, Liz?

Was he the yoga one who was cheating on her? I remember being in my aunties in my teens for Sunday dinner & reading her columns, she spoke about anorexia a lot too which piqued my interest, especially at that time

I used to like reading her column but I’m too tight to pay for Mail+ and I don’t really buy newspapers anymore.

You might not be happy, you might be lonely, you might be skint, you might hate your job, but if you’re thin, you’re doing ok. I think her appearance and her weight is the only thing she feels she can control and because it’s so important to her, it’s the first thing she notices about anything else. I can’t help but feel pity for her for that.

I like her. I think she’s brittle, over sensitive and, on occasion, ever so slightly unhinged. But she’s funny, entertaining and a talented writer. But my God, she has the worst taste in men. I think she very much wants to find a good man who will look after her. But she keeps going for overgrown children who need a mother figure. At some point, she has to start paying her assistant extra to say ‘yep, you’ve picked another dickhead’. Where does she find them? Does she really have no one in her life who will shake her until her common sense starts flowing again?

You certainly can't tap on those trains BUT there is a lot of work going on at the moment at Huddersfield station so things might be a bit different
