From Huddersfield to York. An eye opener.

After reading the posts on here I'm very proud to say I've never heard of her!

ScienceFanGirl · 12/03/2025 18:16

I do feel a bit sorry for her regarding her twattish ex husband.

If this is Nirpal, then yes he did come across as a total dick, from her perspective and also any other

Hoppinggreen · 12/03/2025 18:48

No sure anyone has expressed an opinion either way

😂
We’ve had:
’I love Liz’ x2
‘I have a bit of a soft spot for her’
‘I think she is wonderful’
and more

Zenana · 12/03/2025 18:25

Absolutely not. That was the eye opener. I was surprised. I got off at Wakefield so didn't talk to her.

How do you know it was her?!
I am useless at recognising people I actually know nevermind random vaguely well known people

madaboutpurple · 12/03/2025 19:00

She is well known. She used to write about her neighbours but no longer does that. I am a fan totally.

TorroFerney · 12/03/2025 19:00

Flinderskleepers · 12/03/2025 18:36

If you're in Wakefield, keep an eye out for Jane McDonald

Does Jane come from Wakefield? I’ve never heard her mention it…..

SerafinasGoose · 12/03/2025 19:02

Jeeze.

I'm so happy I don't have even a vaguely recognisable face.

iloveeverykindofcat · 12/03/2025 19:08

I met her once. It was horrible. I gave a few statements on something related to a story she was doing (I was only about 19, in my defence, I would never speak to anyone from the Daily Mail now). She acted nice to my face, then completely misrepresented me in her paper, inserted her own bias and made out I was either lying or hopelessly misinformed. She also commented on my personal appearance in a way that was superficially complimentary but phrased in a way to imply "its a good thing she's pretty because she's stupid".

She's horrible.

justasking111 · 12/03/2025 19:12

I thought she'd retired.

Probably she was just jealous of you. You were young and pretty, things she's neither.

Well that was a big fat letdown OP! 🤣

I know! I didn't realise how short the journey would be. I had to change train.

From Huddersfield to York. An eye opener.

How can she afford a train? According to her shes bankrupt x 10

actorhecto · 12/03/2025 19:20

I like her writing. I think she writes well and is very entertaining to read.
I always feel a bit sorry for her - she comes across as having terribly low self esteem that is having a battle with a monsterous ego - like a lot of actor and performer types.

She shouldn't really have such low self esteem as she is a talented writer, could really be stunning if she was celeb styled, is slim at an age when most of us are fighting flab and has had an interesting career.

When I read some of the stuff she writes about dating and bad treatment from men and how she feels about herself, I just want to give her a hug and take her out for a martini.

Can't believe you didn't get involved in a chat with her @Zenana I couldn't have resisted.

She pulled a Prada wallet out of her bag when the train conductor came round. I was rubbernecking at her bag but I couldn't work out what it was.

Had no idea she was still a journalist! Obviously I never sully myself with the DM.
Didnt she used to write for the Evening Standard back when it was a real paper?
She must be about my age too …

iloveeverykindofcat · 12/03/2025 19:21

@Beaverbridge

Maybe. She's not exactly known for supporting other women. I was absolutely gutted at the time, all naively looking forward to seeing my name in the paper.

ZookeeperSE · 12/03/2025 19:22

Well, it's been a while since there was a Liz Jones thread on Mumsnet.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/03/2025 19:22

I just remember her saying (when she was supposedly broke) that Jo Malone candles at £50 a pop were some of her ‘essentials’.

What do you mean, how does anyone recognise anyone else? Surely because they know what that person looks like Confused

She's always been a bit of a KatieP - always brassic but eating at Le Manoir, or a weekend on a yacht in Monaco or Antibes if the season is busy.
