Does anyone else feel secretly sad when winter ends?! 🤭

I realise I'm probably in an extreme minority! But, I absolutely love both autumn and winter. I love spring too; and the early spring weather today is glorious. But, I can't help but feel slightly melancholic when winter ends. The way many people do when summer ends. Does anyone else relate to this?

I think summer brings a social pressure that winter doesn't. I like the hideaway nature of winter!

No. Get the sun out, legs out, bike out. Cycle to work in the sun and daylight. Fantastic.

Ooh, but that's where warm jumpers, hot water bottles and endless cups of tea and spiced apple cake come into play for me! It's the getting cosy after a brisk winter walk that is part of the joy of winter! For me. I totally get that we're all different.

I wonder what it is that makes gives us our seasonal preferences?

I love sunshine and blue skies - quite happy for it to be cold and to get dark early - but I HATE having to do stuff in the garden so I do feel a bit of dread at this time of year.

I used to. I used to love winter.

Now I am 45, so many shit things have happened in my life, the dark nights and cold just make my depression a million times worse. I’ve got a back injury which makes me terrified of walking on snow/ice.

So no, I just want warmth and long days.

Snuggling up with a book under a blanket. Wrapping up for a wintery walk, and returning to a bowl of homemade soup and fresh warm crusty bread followed by a hot bath and a cup of tea. Unashamedly early nights. Lovely cosy clothes in beautiful rich colours. Hot chocolate, hot chocolate, hot chocolate... An excuse to devour a box set. Low winter sun. No naked people anywhere! Happy dogs, who do not like hot weather. There's so much to love about winter! In my very humble opinion 😄

I do like the sun and warmer weather but I feel you with the pressure. I loved the first lockdown for this reason, glorious weather but absolutely no social expectations.

Yes I feel the same. I don't like the summer sun or feeling hot. I like autumn best when it's bright and cold.

I absolutely thrived in lockdown for that reason as well.

In the past, yes, but not this year. I'm delighted to get past winter. The days seem full of promise again. DH and I have had a lovely morning tidying the porch/potting shed and I can't wait to get potting up again.
In a few weeks I can do the non-street lit rural walk home again.
