...have I heard the terms "norks", "tinkly laugh", "naice" bread/ham/area, CF (Cheeky Fucker), LTB (Leave the Bastard) and "get your ducks in a row" (when leaving the bastard!)

What are your 'Only on MN' things?

Plaice cat king
I think it started out as an auto

derbiee · 29/12/2024 07:50

Prosecco

InMySpareTime · 29/12/2024 07:50

...Autocorrect but is now a fixture on the politics threads.

Naice ham was from a shopping list someone saw in a trolley.

Cancel the cheque

That people don’t answer their doors unless they are expecting someone

Those words weren't made up by someone on Mumsnet, where are getting that from, theyre words in common usage by all sorts of people

What an odd post

ssd · 29/12/2024 08:00

The hate and disgust for men, i don't see this in real life. And complaining how much men hate women, when their hatred fir men is off the scale.

I don't know whats worse.

Unfortunately it can't be claimed that misogyny is only on mumsnet because that is bloody everywhere.

Well, until women are killing 2-3 men a week, I'm thinking it should be quite clear which is worse.

Mallardoo · 29/12/2024 08:07

I haven’t heard norks for a while - or fanjo for that matter. Or vagine Grin

TickingAlongNicely · 29/12/2024 08:08

Bunfights. Never heard it elsewhere. And sort if expecting one here..

Itsmyluckyegg · 29/12/2024 08:09

Chicken to feed the entire family for a week!

saraclara · 29/12/2024 08:09

The constant use of the word vile. I almost never hear it in real life

earwiggoagain · 29/12/2024 08:10

My boss actually said he was 'getting his ducks in a row' with regards work, fortunately we were on a teams call and on mute so he couldn't hear my snort of laughter.

muddyford · 29/12/2024 08:11

Vile, fuming - hardly ever hear those in real life.

Man hating shrews? What a funny thing you are.

shellyleppard · 29/12/2024 08:17

@TickingAlongNicely my elderly dad always refers to the post funeral food/afternoon tea thing as the bunfighte🤣🤣

wizzler · 29/12/2024 08:17

Not mentioned so much these days but Pom bears and the MN bat.

PermanentTemporary · 29/12/2024 08:18

MN is a repository of some quite early Internet stuff and abbreviatuons that used to be everywhere you don't see as much elsewhere any more, like TBH for example.

I think AIBU is a genuine original MN coinage. I've been on here for 20 years so i remember when AIBU as a board didn't exist and the Active list used to contain thread titles ' Am I being unreasonable number 5822...'

I hear mansplaining far more elsewhere, usually misused. MN is one of the few places I sometimes see it used correctly, I guess because there are still quite a lot of MNers who've read Rebecca Solnit.

"I don't answer my door unless I'm expecting someone"

applebee33 · 29/12/2024 08:19

I joke constantly with DH that I will LTB if he is annoying me, I of course had to explain what ltb was and he found it highly amusing

RampantIvy · 29/12/2024 08:21

TTC
I have never seen this abbreviation elsewhere.

I was thinking the same, to me bunfught is a word from the past, not a new fangled thing 😁

shellyleppard · 29/12/2024 08:23

@TickingAlongNicely maybe we are just showing our age 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ('m 55 so.....yeah 🤣🤣)
