...have I heard the terms "norks", "tinkly laugh", "naice" bread/ham/area, CF (Cheeky Fucker), LTB (Leave the Bastard) and "get your ducks in a row" (when leaving the bastard!)

What are your 'Only on MN' things?

‘Did you mean to be so rude?’

Yes, yes actually I certainly did!

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/12/2024 10:00

Head tilt and hard stare.

Well that's going to frighten them!!

‘My in-laws want to see my new born, but I need at least two months to bond so have said no. AIBU?’

The hate and disgust for men, i don't see this in real life. And complaining how much men hate women, when their hatred fir men is off the scale.

I don't know whats worse.

It's a real thing. Men are killing women every day and eroding our rights. Invading our spaces.

derbiee · 29/12/2024 09:36

You mean squeezing more drama out of tube of toothpaste than fits in it and wanting to go no contact if someone buys the wrong toilet paper for their own bathroom?

Yep. Some real crackers on here....have you seen the conspiracy ones 🤔? Then there are threads where women genuinely get help for their predicament. Quite the mixed bag.

BornForLeaving · 29/12/2024 10:02

Toddlerteaplease · 29/12/2024 09:35

Totally agree. I don't know any men like the ones described on here.

Then you’re lucky but maybe try to understand that other women have different experiences to you.

Having seen you post on here, your life seems quite sheltered and different to the vast majority of people I know. All good, but that probably goes a long way in explaining your experiences. Don’t try to invalidate other womens experiences.

I have thought many men were nice when I’ve known them through a hobby of work, even as a friend etc, it’s only when I’ve been in a relationship with them or they’ve been in one with very close friends who confide in me, that I’ve seen them for who they really are.

Genuine question: why are you on Mumsnet if you have such disdain for the users of Mumsnet?

True story: my brother (a 41 year old single, childless man and definitely not a Mumsnet user) told me he was going no contact with me yesterday because I told him to help clear the table at my sister's house after she'd bought, paid for and cooked a roast that he turned up half an hour late for. Drama-philes can be found in all walks of life; they are certainly not only to be found amongst the overwhelmingly-female population of Mumsnet.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/12/2024 09:33

People 'raging' over a tiny perceived slight and going non contact because of it. Mumsnet is a parallel universe.

See my comment above... This is not restricted to Mumsnet in any way!

LostittoBostik · 29/12/2024 10:07

Norks is a 90s word. I miss it.

ARichtGoodDram · 29/12/2024 10:09

Deliberately pretending not to understand a post because of a spelling or grammar error is something I haven’t seen elsewhere.

Faux confusion over someone assaulted by their partner when they had no cash easily accessible as they had recently “brought” a house was a MN low that I’ve never forgotten

My boss actually said he was 'getting his ducks in a row' with regards work, fortunately we were on a teams call and on mute so he couldn't hear my snort of laughter.

It comes from business speak - that's where it started

ARichtGoodDram · 29/12/2024 10:10

Also the insistence that anything not tradition in England is a horrid “Americanism” even if posters from Scotland or Ireland point out it was very traditional there

Mylovelygreendress · 29/12/2024 10:11

Frothing is a favourite on the RF board .
I have never seen a human frothing .

It's a metaphor, I think we've all come across people getting enraged and for whom this would be apt?

Shakeyourbaublesandsmile · 29/12/2024 10:15

Cocklodger - if it hasn’t been said already

Short for 'frothing at the mouth' - like a rabid dog - although people where I am tend to prefer foaming at the mouth. Pretty commonplace I'd have thought.

Aaron95 · 29/12/2024 10:17

Withering fanny.

Apparently one comsequence of getting the ick.

Dontjudgeme101 · 29/12/2024 10:20

Dressing gown of doom! I told my friend this expression. I hade never heard of it until l went on Mumsnet. I love it. 😂😂😂

Dontjudgeme101 · 29/12/2024 10:20

Sorry had.

It has been said already, and I think it's a great term for a certain kind of man.

Choirsinging · 29/12/2024 10:22

Sanpro. Never heard anyone say it apart from here.

Banditheelerfan · 29/12/2024 10:24

Someone just posted that they were back riding their horse three days post partum

According to MN 'everyone' is on Mountjaro to the extent that soon there will be no overweight people left and clothes will start to get smaller to accommodate everyone being slim again, which brings me to vanity sizing where all clothes currently in the shops are so enormous that there simply isn't anything available small enough to fit Mumsnetters who say they're a 'normal' size 8 and even size 6 petite clothing is like a tent that can accommodate 3 people.

Bloody vanity sizing | Mumsnet

I got 3 items of clothing for Christmas and NONE of them fit. Im a size 8 mostly I got a really nice Tesco shirt dress in a size 6 I could fit a fri...
