Anyone else feeling really unwell?

Oh my, I started with a standard cold last week, developed into dizziness, chills and aches and constant streaming eyes and nose. I felt like I’d been hit with a baseball bat - back and torso were so sore

Now onto night sweats, green gunky cough, horrible sinus pain, continuing aches and shivers. Constant thirst. It hurts to wear clothes, it hurts to do anything. I’ve suggested cancelling Christmas lunch tomorrow but DH not listening. Had a full on sob on my 11yr old this morning.

Anyone else just feeling dreadful and fancy a moan?

Yes been knocked off my feet. I'm improving but still not right at all. It's been the worst virus I've had in about ten years I think.

I hope your DH catches it, then you can show him as much sympathy as he’s showing you.

If you’ve got people coming, aren’t they likely to cancel rather than wanting to risk infection?

I was meant to be travelling to family today but I’m stuck at home with a stinking cold, so it’s me & the cat for Christmas - but I can spend it wrapped up eating ice cream & dozing.

Justkeepingplatesspinning · 24/12/2024 12:33

I've got similar, it's a long time since I've felt this rotten. I hope your DH gets his head out of his backside and realises how poorly you are. If he won't cancel then he needs to take the lead in preparing the meal.

Cancel now, so people can get food in if they need to. You dont want to be spreading this around.

evtheria · 24/12/2024 12:36

Yes 😩🤒🤧 Last night I slept on the couch and woke up drenched in sweat, praying that was the peak as I'm doing the cooking tomorrow!

user1471550643 · 24/12/2024 12:37

My other half has woken up sneezing and throwing up this morning , not sure what bug that is! so that’s our Christmas plans out of the window and I’m waiting with bated breath to see if I’m next! Hope everyone feels better soon .

NewNameNoelle · 24/12/2024 12:38

The people coming know that I’m unwell (I didn’t attend something this weekend) and don’t show any signs of concern about coming.

Will speak to my DH again. One of them could host. They could have the food we’ve got in the fridge. DH and kids could go there.

If you’ve had this bug, how long until you started to feel better? I’m into 7 days now 😔

Me too, two enormous, totally soaking, night sweats in one night….so miserable and disgusting.

Some nasty bugs about. 16yo and 18yo got raging sore throats 😭

Nerdlings · 24/12/2024 12:42

There’s a particularly nasty flu bug doing the rounds at the moment. I don’t get that ill but it completely floored me. It was a good week before I felt any better.

nebular · 24/12/2024 12:55

I have had flu, lots of what you have put, but not really snotty. I am really nauseous too. It's coming up to a week, but my son is over a week now. It's decimated the whole house and we haven't been able to do anything pre Christmas. I am just hoping it passes soon, I am so fed up.

Dontbeaneejit · 24/12/2024 12:55

Me too! I initially put the dizziness down to a few too many glasses of wine at the work do but then came the chills and aches..oh the achiness!! My whole body hurts and my chest feels like I've got an elephant sat on it. Started Saturday. The chills have mostly stopped but the coughing is gross and the achiness is doing me in. Make it stop!

Tupperwarelid · 24/12/2024 13:03

Me too. Sound like I’m a 50 a day smoker and completely off my food as my throat is so sore. Thought I was feeling better last night but woke up feeling even worse. It’s horrible.

slightlydistrac · 24/12/2024 13:05

Waves weakly at the multitude...

It's all I've got the strength for at the moment.

Xiaoxiong · 24/12/2024 13:07

Me - spent yesterday at urgent care who sent me to A&E only to be told there was nothing they could do and I had to just go home and cope. DH is keeping the Christmas show on the road, magnificently, but I am completely useless!

RandomMess · 24/12/2024 13:07

All you poor folk, horrid timing and a waste of non-sick time of work!!

Wishing you all a speedy recovery Flowers

Xiaoxiong · 24/12/2024 13:08

(Mine's not a virus, but thrombosed piles and they hurt so much Sad)

Halfull · 24/12/2024 13:10

Yes me and DP the minute we stopped work. Now shambling round the house and grunting at each other. No fun. Have to cook tomorrow everything else is cancelled. Tree isn’t up.

creamsnugjumper · 24/12/2024 13:17

Oh I found my lovely people, I'm so so grouchy.
I've had almost a month of this now, gastric pain, aches, headaches, nausea and I've managed to work through it all.

Finished on Friday and I've gone downhill fast, I called to get a GP appt as my chest is so tight I was starting to wonder if I had an infection and I cant bring down my temperature.

But hey no GP appointment so for sent to a&e - a& bloody e, for a suspect chest infections just soo stupid.

I managed to get some steroids and some flu tablets thing, and I've just got up had a shower and feel exhausted so not sure how tomorrow will pan out... but my DS and DH will just have to figure it out.

Did they listen to your chest at least? Or give you nah tips on what will help?

Nothatgingerpirate · 24/12/2024 13:25

I'm really sorry, OP, that your precious husband is not listening about the fucking Christmas lunch.
Hug (from a non hugger). 😁

Currently sitting in the kitchen, after crouching on the carpet with period pains, D/V (not a bug).

My 75 yo husband is beside himself with concern and it's not about stuffing his face tomorrow.
I'm 45 and never felt like this with periods.

I suggest you go to bed, explain the situation to your 11 yo and your husband can have a sausage roll.
🤢

creamsnugjumper · 24/12/2024 13:47

What are all of us sick humans watching on TV?

I have the laptop on the bed and just on "last Christmas" I've done Bridget jones, the holiday.. I only have love actually left.

Am in bed. Have hardly left bed since Friday tbh. Children being troopers and DH I think now understands. He’s doing everything that I can’t do.

We will host here but I won’t come downstairs. Will skip the whole day. That’s the least disruptive for everyone and maybe tomorrow I will have made a miraculous recovery.

Have managed half a cracker and a piece of Xmas cake. Couldn’t face the other half. Who needs Ozempic when this is the gift that keeps on giving.

Waves from sickbed to all the other poor sickly folk.

And thank you for the very welcome hug (as a fellow non hugger)

I don't have a cold as such, just a constant sore throat, body aching and constantly tired. Walked to the local shops yesterday, normally a 20 minute round trip is nothing, but it left me so fatigued.

Does this sound like a virus? Wasn't sure if it's period or peri related.
