Anyone else feeling really unwell?

Oh my, I started with a standard cold last week, developed into dizziness, chills and aches and constant streaming eyes and nose. I felt like I’d been hit with a baseball bat - back and torso were so sore

Now onto night sweats, green gunky cough, horrible sinus pain, continuing aches and shivers. Constant thirst. It hurts to wear clothes, it hurts to do anything. I’ve suggested cancelling Christmas lunch tomorrow but DH not listening. Had a full on sob on my 11yr old this morning.

Anyone else just feeling dreadful and fancy a moan?

Oh I found my lovely people, I'm so so grouchy.
I've had almost a month of this now, gastric pain, aches, headaches, nausea and I've managed to work through it all.

Finished on Friday and I've gone downhill fast, I called to get a GP appt as my chest is so tight I was starting to wonder if I had an infection and I cant bring down my temperature.

But hey no GP appointment so for sent to a&e - a& bloody e, for a suspect chest infections just soo stupid.

I managed to get some steroids and some flu tablets thing, and I've just got up had a shower and feel exhausted so not sure how tomorrow will pan out... but my DS and DH will just have to figure it out.

Sounds awful, do you have long term conditions? Usually antivirals meds for flu only given to those who meet a certain criteria. I don't think A&E can manage any influx of usually well people demanding treatment that's not indicated.

Get well soon. I'm in the mend after similar for 8-9 days

TinyMouseTheatre · 24/12/2024 20:07

It could be tension @CoubousAndTourmalet but if it gets worse I'd call 111 Flowers

SilverDoe · 24/12/2024 20:11

@NewNameNoelle yep, I have this 🤒

It's absolutely gutting, like yours it's lasted a while and got progressively worse, so I have basically been ill the entire run up to Christmas.

It's so inconvenient and sad tbh; I've got 3 young kids and it's taken the spark out of it a hit for me - I'm still excited but I usually take a lot of enjoyment in the lead up. This year instead I was shaking after finishing wrapping as I felt so unwell, and had to leave the supermarket with only half the stuff I needed as I thought I was going to faint.

Keep waking up and going to bed feeling extra awful. By some small mercy I am starting to feel a bit better, but it's a bit late in the day as I've had to power through everything regardless!

Norovirus type bug middle of last week- and I’m still feeling nauseous. Can’t stop sneezing either which seems random.
this virus/ bug / Covid has been doing the rounds at work but everyone’s symptoms seems slightly different so maybe my sickness was actually the virus?

creamsnugjumper · 24/12/2024 20:19

@Rosebud21 I was hospitalised with Covid in the feb before lockdowns...but no history of asthmas etc.

The GP said as I'm allergic to so many antibiotics and he didn't think from the sound on my chest or symptoms that it was acting like bacterial he was happy or give steroid to help open up my chest, he's only given me 4 days. In his words to help over Christmas and then get back to the GP is I don't see any recovery in 7+ days.

Thanks, in a very strange way it's good to know I'm not alone.

Everyone is down the pub, and I'm sat like billy no mates with my laptop now onto Notting Hill.

Heat pack on my chest and drinking squash.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 24/12/2024 20:27

I will, @TinyMouseTheatre . Thank you.

I hope you start feeling better soon x

Makes me wonder if some of us have had two bugs at once or something.

I completely relate to PP re having to leave shop feeling too unwell… waves of dizziness/nausea etc are horrible, and I didn’t go out when contagious this was weeks later when trying to prepare for Xmas and still a wreck. These viruses are truly vicious. I’ve never experienced a Xmas like this and my kids are older (teen/preteen)

user1499848 · 24/12/2024 20:33

Day 4 of the flu here, the bone crushing aches went yesterday thankfully but I'm even more knackered. Also now starting to feel really nauseous and I have no appetite so it's no xmas dinner for me 😢Even covid didn't feel this bad.

Like a pp, I'm so cheesed off that I can't take any of this as sick leave cos I'm off anyway. What a waste!

Fireworknight · 24/12/2024 20:38

I think that you can ‘reclaim’ holidays if you’re off sick during them. Not sure about bank holidays, unless you have to take them out of your holiday allowance.

I commented on the amount of sneezing I’m doing before!

everyone I know who has had it has had some degree of stomach upset/nausea along with the flu type symptoms

DrMadelineMaxwell · 24/12/2024 21:01

After spending weeks with 30 germ factories and not getting ill, of course I came down with a respiratory infection on the last 2 days of term. Comes with a banging headache, no hearing in one blocked ear and constant, non-productive coughing.

The cough is slowly improving, but I still can't hear out of one ear.

This sounds like what my partner has today. He woke up sneezing and has been throwing up and randomly sneezing all day .

user1499848 · 24/12/2024 21:44

How many days is this nausea or upset stomach lasting, O yuletide spewers?

Abcdefghijklmh · 24/12/2024 21:51

OP I’ve had exactly the same symptoms . It’s been awful. I’m slowly coming out of it but my ears are ringing , I have brain fog and I’m dizzy . Bloody awful virus and not a normal
One . .hope you recover soon

MySweetGeorgina · 24/12/2024 22:16

We've been Ill for a month now, and are so rarely ill . Took an entire week off of work ,and I am self employed! In December...)

It's a weird virus, not sure it is Covid or flu or both. Started with a cough and headache, morphed into a chest infection with fever. Then gradually better, then almost feeling normal again and now have a sore throat and feel dizzy and have a temp again.

DH has similar but also has earache and bad tummy.

Tested negative for Covid twice, but lost sense of taste and smell for 3 random days

And only ever had that with covid

I don't understand how I had a 3 week chest infection and then a sore throat after that (really hurts now), it's like other way around from how flu/cold normally progresses?!

fivebyfivebuffy · 24/12/2024 23:35

My food poisoning started as flu symptoms
40c temp, and pouring (I mean running off me) sweat and just felt achy.
I was adamant it was flu until the diarrhoea every 30 mins started
No vomiting but felt sick with it and no appetite

DrCoconut · 25/12/2024 00:14

I'm into week 4 now. The first two weeks were ghastly and I was off work. Week 3 I probably overdid things as now I am really tired and coughing like a drain again. I will probably go back to the GP after Christmas if I don't improve, they did say to go back after two weeks if necessary. Hope everyone has the best Christmas possible.

EmpressaurusKitty · 25/12/2024 03:14

I woke myself up coughing & could feel the aches coming back, so I got up to have a Lemsip. Then I thought that if you can’t eat ice cream in the middle of the night before Christmas, when can you?

The cat’s watching disapprovingly. This is definitely not her normal routine.

windysocks · 25/12/2024 03:38

I've had this for 10 days now awake coughing after going to bed early with a migraine. Feels like it will never end ! Hope you feel better soon

Glowlamp · 25/12/2024 03:40

I’m so fed up. I’ve had more than a week of sore, sore throat that won’t go away. Coughing, coughing fits, tired, various sore body parts.
Now I’m awake googling symptoms! I haven’t really stopped, just slowed down a bit and did nothing over weekend. Doubt that has helped. Constantly on lempsip or paracetamol and ibuprofen. My daughter had it, couldn’t swallow, lost her voice, infection in both eyes.
I am in charge of Xmas and have so many plans until 29th but don’t want to spread this. I’m in the spare room tonight so DH and I might get some sleep. Merry Xmas to me - meh!

Glowlamp · 25/12/2024 03:41

Hope everyone better soon! I hate being awake at this time :(

Lucybeary · 25/12/2024 03:59

random sneezing and headaches / dizziness. And also wish I wasn't awake at this time!

Fireworknight · 25/12/2024 11:01

Good morning fellow un-‘elf’-y people. How are we all today?

I’ve ventured out of the bedroom and made myself some jam on toast. Discovered we’re practically out of bread (bread machine now on), and almost out of paracetamol (may need to dig out my handbag supplies).

Youngest dc (22) feels fluey, so oldest dc (25) and dog are holding the fort.

we’ve just had the discussion about possibly delaying cooking Christmas dinner as no one has any appetite. Just got to check dates etc.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 25/12/2024 11:15

My jaw/ear pain from last night has developed into a raging migraine with nausea, so I'm not going to be able to eat a thing until it passes, which will probably be a day or two 😞

Sending good wishes to everyone else who is still suffering 💐

MovingonupScotland · 25/12/2024 11:24

Just coming out of this - two weeks off work which is unheard of for me. Tested positive for covid on day 3 and negative on day 6. Still feeling pretty horrific with exhaustion and sinus pain. Happy Christmas!🎅🏽
