Anyone else feeling really unwell?

Oh my, I started with a standard cold last week, developed into dizziness, chills and aches and constant streaming eyes and nose. I felt like I’d been hit with a baseball bat - back and torso were so sore

Now onto night sweats, green gunky cough, horrible sinus pain, continuing aches and shivers. Constant thirst. It hurts to wear clothes, it hurts to do anything. I’ve suggested cancelling Christmas lunch tomorrow but DH not listening. Had a full on sob on my 11yr old this morning.

Anyone else just feeling dreadful and fancy a moan?

I've found the poorly gang. I am feeling very much as you described, I don't know what virus this is but it has floored me.
Have cancelled plans for tonight and me and kids are having a chilled one. Tomorrow I'm hosting for 7 and was supposed to be doing some prep today but I can't get up and am aching all over.
Bah humbug! Sorry for us all.

MetooOP · 24/12/2024 14:07

Sorry you are feeling ill but this is not ok. He is a child. He is not there to take on the stress you are feeling because you are ill and your husband is shit and unsympathetic. You should be able to turn to your H for support, but if you can't, a young child is not a substitute. Especially not at Christmas.

You need to reassure your child so he is not taking on any anxiety or worry or stress that your 'full on sob' may have caused him.

Hubby has gone down with something overnight. We were meant to be hosting 7 tomorrow so I've spent the morning frantically relocating gifts and food to my Mums house as everyone is now going there. Going to go and face the supermarket in a wee while so I can get something for us to eat tomorrow.

I’m on day 4 of what I think is the flu. Feeling absolutely awful. We’ve had to cancel Xmas plans as can’t risk elderly relatives falling ill, hoping to feel a bit better to salvage tomorrow for the kids.

Am in bed. Have hardly left bed since Friday tbh. Children being troopers and DH I think now understands. He’s doing everything that I can’t do.

We will host here but I won’t come downstairs. Will skip the whole day. That’s the least disruptive for everyone and maybe tomorrow I will have made a miraculous recovery.

Have managed half a cracker and a piece of Xmas cake. Couldn’t face the other half. Who needs Ozempic when this is the gift that keeps on giving.

Waves from sickbed to all the other poor sickly folk.

And thank you for the very welcome hug (as a fellow non hugger)

Edited

Happy your husband has come to his senses.
I cannot manage food (oddly, Trebor mints seem to help).
Would like to prepare that "roast on steroids" for husband tomorrow, but he doesn't mind.
Get better, I'm gonna stuff some painkillers.
😕

piscofrisco · 24/12/2024 14:26

My dd2. Never seen her so poorly. Nothing is touching it :(

Fireworknight · 24/12/2024 14:29

Yep, different bug though. Horrible cough, especially at night, and very high temperature (39+). Dh has now gone down with it. First signs, slight tickle throat on Friday then came down properly on Saturday and been in bed since.

Xiaoxiong · 24/12/2024 14:39

@creamsnugjumper it's not the lurgy but a thrombosed piles flare up- they just said to sit on a bag of ice, take paracetamol and use creams from the supermarket. I feel like I'm going to pass out from pain every time I'm on the loo and the rest of the time all I can do is lie on the sofa like a limp noodle. Amazing how much just experiencing pain can take it out of you!

Fireworknight · 24/12/2024 14:42

And yes, I’m hoping the scales will be the positive outcome from this. I do want to eat, but then find I can’t really face food.

StiggyZardust · 24/12/2024 14:45

DS (21) has the lurgy, he's been unwell for days. I think it's also to do with working hard at university and preparing to go overseas next week.
I'm really struggling as I've damaged a tendon in my leg and I'm hobbling around, no driving ☹️.

creamsnugjumper · 24/12/2024 14:45

@Xiaoxiong oh for that sounds awful, sorry I misread your post I'm sure a chest X-ray wouldn't have helped much!

Is that something that goes on its own? Or will you need a surgical procedure?

Mickelodeonssnazzypot · 24/12/2024 14:45

Day 8, stopped the chills and shivering but weird whistling /crackling when I lie down, legs like jelly and the nausea is just relentless...

Ginger nut biscuits - I find nibbling these help with nausea.

Thegrassroots26 · 24/12/2024 15:16

Yes… I’m in my 6th week of it now. Please make it stop…I’ve forgotten what being a normal human feels like at this point….

Sympathies for everyone feeling crappy for Christmas..

Thegrassroots26 · 24/12/2024 15:19

Shiningout · 24/12/2024 12:26

Yes been knocked off my feet. I'm improving but still not right at all. It's been the worst virus I've had in about ten years I think.

Yeah I don’t think I’ve been this bad and for this long. I think it’s Covid, but obviously a very mean strain with no vaccine to soften the blow this year.

NewNameNoelle · 24/12/2024 15:39

@MetooOP I know, bad form. She offered me a hug and I started crying. She gave be a big hug, then made me a drink and gave me another hug. She’s been a trooper. DH has been great too. I’m not blaming him.

I did apologise to her at the time. Obviously it isn’t on. She shouldn’t have had me cry on her. Once the tears came i just couldn’t stop them.

creamsnugjumper · 24/12/2024 15:57

@NewNameNoelle I think that sounds lovely, it's OK for our children to see emotions and overwhelm. Sending big hugs.

Sinkintotheswamp · 24/12/2024 16:00

If it hurts to wear clothes that's flu. I hope you're on the mend by the weekend. It takes some time to get over.
(In a nice way) I wouldn't want to visit your house. Your DH could pass it on.

RosaMoline · 24/12/2024 16:01

I have all these symptoms. I have a thread on it. I hope we all miraculously recover tomorrow, like the phoenix rising from the ashes.

Dontbeaneejit · 24/12/2024 16:08

I'm doing everything I can think of. Vitamin c mega doses, vitamin d, nasal rinses, steaming my head, gargling, flu capsules, apple cider vinegar, echinacea, Manuka honey and ginger. Not sure any of it actually speeds up the healing process but it makes me feel better to feel like I'm doing something instead of just flaking on the sofa. My kids keep asking me if I'm better yet. I feel guilty for being so rubbish. Dh is being amazing. He's basically cleaned the whole house today and is doing all the cooking tomorrow anyway. He currently making me a green tea with honey 🥰

Sirzy · 24/12/2024 16:10

Yup, some flu like virus that has been doing the rounds at work decided this was the perfect time to hit me!

trying my hardest to act fine for the sake of autistic ds but failing badly at the moment.

HangingOver · 24/12/2024 16:16

I tested positive two weeks ago and still glued to sofa today. Can't keep my eyes open 😞

Rainbow450 · 24/12/2024 16:20

I do hope you all feel better soon. I had covid then flu after it so I felt like death for a month. Hideous stuff going around.

kessiebird · 24/12/2024 16:24

A virus got me between 10th and 20th December. Cough and sore throat (like swallowing glass), night sweats and not sleeping. Missed all Christmas social plans between those dates and had to WFH. It was grim. I went to urgent care for the first time in 6 years. Not Covid, not flu (had jab), not bacterial (swab came back fine) - a particularly viscous virus doing the rounds. DH also caught it, he thought I was making a fuss over nothing until he got it too.

Hope everyone feels better soon, it's really dreadful.

creamsnugjumper · 24/12/2024 16:29

I hadn't even thought to check if this is Covid. But my elderly mum is fully jabbed and happy to be around so fingers crossed after weeks of this I'm not still infecting people.
