Anyone else feeling really unwell?

Oh my, I started with a standard cold last week, developed into dizziness, chills and aches and constant streaming eyes and nose. I felt like I’d been hit with a baseball bat - back and torso were so sore

Now onto night sweats, green gunky cough, horrible sinus pain, continuing aches and shivers. Constant thirst. It hurts to wear clothes, it hurts to do anything. I’ve suggested cancelling Christmas lunch tomorrow but DH not listening. Had a full on sob on my 11yr old this morning.

Anyone else just feeling dreadful and fancy a moan?

I'm into my third week. The first week was the worst with aching, exhaustion, bad back, bad knees and gums. I was in bed for days. Then I started to feel a little bit better. Then I didn't as it hit my tummy. I'm exhausted and I've now started sneezing. Like you I've also been crying.

Some of my friends have it, some are really unwell. I just want to be well.

Xiaoxiong · 24/12/2024 17:05

@creamsnugjumper nobody can tell me - it's just go home, drink water, keep up the pain relief, try and cope as best you can, make sure you're not passing out with blood loss. The pain is indescribable but if I have anything stronger than paracetamol, it will be constipating which will make everything worse. They say surgery might be needed "if it doesn't clear up" but how long that will be is not specified...

If you'd told me that pregnancy stuff would still be affecting me physically when my DCs were teenagers I would never have believed it!! And yet here I lie on the sofa as DH and the DCs clean the whole house around me and wrap all the presents...DH even bought his own presents "from me" and wrapped them himself 😭

JM88Jen · 24/12/2024 17:08

My little boy has started with tonsillitis today .... He is usually the most excited for Christmas at our house so sad seeing him on sofa looking unwell. My throat is hurting too ....ugh!

Apparently a flu nanmi is ripping through the UK we were struck down at ekrk all suddenly and in varying degrees but mostly all bed bound, aches etc according to the mail last year 6
700 people were in hospital with flu at the moment it's 3000 and 150 critical

Killerqueenie · 24/12/2024 17:17

My 2 DC's have been unwell the last 2 weeks with fever/cough, and I have been feeling fine until this afternoon. I don't feel feverish, but I have suddenly become really nauseated and bloated. I hope to god it's not D&V 😭

Kids have been so excited, so I want to keep their spirits up, but I just want to curl up and go to sleep now in the hope it passes.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 24/12/2024 17:18

We've just got back from Florida where DH had walking pneumonia and I had bronchitis. We're both completely wiped out and it's been 2 weeks since we first became ill. To add insult to injury I've now got oral thrush and a huge cold sore!

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 24/12/2024 17:19

I had ginger in hot water and that helped

BarbaraWoodlouse · 24/12/2024 17:25

I’ve been in bed since Friday. It’s Influenza A according to the PCR test.

Started in my chest then 24 hrs of fever, coughing and sneezing. My pelvic floor has given up completely! Still extremely fatigued and chest rattling on day 5.

Luckily DH is vaccinated and DD18 is a good little cook so between them a slightly subdued Christmas is underway.

My sympathies to anyone else going through this.

Rozbos · 24/12/2024 17:51

Waves feebly, think I have flu but my throat is so, so sore. I'm constantly sipping iced water as it's the only thing that helps. DH is also under the weather but much better than me. Thankfully family are helping loads as we are hosting tomorrow and I'm not sure I will be getting out of bed!

Thisismyalterego · 24/12/2024 18:25

I went to bed at eight o clock on Saturday, feeling shivery. Woke up on Sunday still feeling shiy but also feeling sick. Haven't been sick but have felt hot and cold in waves. Managed to get up for a few hours on Sunday. Yesterday I was able to get up and didn't go back to bed until about 8pm. Got up this morning and have been trying to help DH who has been a star, getting the house ready for tomorrow. I still don't feel right, very weak due to not really eating. Tonight I felt hungry for the first time since Saturday, so hopefully that's an indication I'm on the mend. I hope so - we have our ds's and their families coming tomorrow so I really want to be able to enjoy it.
Hope everyone feels better soon

Thegrassroots26 · 24/12/2024 18:38

I feel so nauseous this evening. Not sure if it’s the virus now or side effects from the congestion medicine. Either way, I’m so done after 5 plus weeks of feeling poorly. Cut a woman a break universe! This is cruel. 🎄😓🤕😷🤢

SereneFish · 24/12/2024 18:43

I caught the norovirus going round work just before we finished for the year. Two days of vomiting and nausea. At first I thought it was just a hangover from the Christmas party.

BellaVita · 24/12/2024 18:48

I am finally feeling back to normal after having all the symptoms you describe which started two weeks ago although I still have the cough.

Last Wed in the early hours I woke up and the room was literally spinning, it was awful.

Hope you feel better soon OP x

TinyMouseTheatre · 24/12/2024 18:49

Same here. Rang 111 on Sunday and they told me to go to A&E where they said I had the flu but strangely gave me antibiotics "in case I got worse".

Started taking them straightaway as I knew that if I felt more ill I'd be in Hospital.

Still feel bloody awful. Haven't even managed a shower today but DH has been a star and done all of the food shopping, cleaning etc and offered to cancel everyone at least twice a day.

DH should do the bulk of the work though as nearly every one of the guests is from his side of the family.

I hope you start to feel better soon OP Flowers

Beautifulweeds · 24/12/2024 18:50

Yes, 2 weeks still have an awful bug, bit better now but got rib and chest pain from coughing so much!

MistletoeMoments · 24/12/2024 19:00

Me. Came down with this flu virus - sore throat, aches and pains, chills, shivering - on Saturday night and have been awful ever since. I hoped I was making a speedy recovery as I've felt ok today but I'm back with the shaking and shivering this evening. Christmas is cancelled for me Sad

Hope everyone feels better soon x

OldEarAche · 24/12/2024 19:04

Ds (23 but with SN) had an earache for a few days. He said his ear is a bit better today but he has a temperature and looks coldly/fluey/grey. It's hard with him as his assessment of pain isn't the same as ours so I always worry he's sicker than he looks.

I hope you all feel a bit better tomorrow!

CoubousAndTourmalet · 24/12/2024 19:25

Not a virus but just have a horrendous headache that's affecting my jaw/teeth and ear. Can't face food.

Hope you all feel better soon.

BraveStarr · 24/12/2024 19:26

I started last night with a scratchy throat, which developed today into a temp of over 39, shivers and aches. Not impressed!!

I hope you all feel better soon Flowers

The people coming know that I’m unwell (I didn’t attend something this weekend) and don’t show any signs of concern about coming.

Will speak to my DH again. One of them could host. They could have the food we’ve got in the fridge. DH and kids could go there.

If you’ve had this bug, how long until you started to feel better? I’m into 7 days now 😔

@NewNameNoelle Im sorry to hear you are unwell, I had similar, mine lasted 1.5 months and I just couldn’t shift it. Hope you feel better soon xx

TheBunyip · 24/12/2024 19:31

My bones hurt so much. And I just threw up the Xmas eve buffet 😢

AlwaysTheRenegade · 24/12/2024 19:36

Best wishes to all Brew
I think I'm coming down with the a similar virus. Shivering one minute, sweating the next, aching everywhere, especially wrists and ankles. I threw up once last night randomly, can't taste anything (did a covid test and negative) and so lethargic.

Have you had that checked out? It doesn't sound like a virus?

No, I haven't, it's not very easy to get it checked out just now though. I'll have to just get on with it. It's probably just tension.
