Do you do housework on Christmas Day?

Prepared to accept that I’m a weirdo, but I’ll definitely do a washing (and hang it up to dry) and hoover. Once the day is done and the kid’s in bed, I’ll maybe do the ironing if there’s any sitting.

Am I a lunatic for doing housework that day? Do you do any?

The trick is to buy clothes that don't need ironing.

Mainly polyester

I’ll suck up ironing to wear nice material clothes

Mushybut · 07/07/2025 06:44

Or rather…. I pay my teen son to iron for me 😆

I would do a deep clean in the day leading up.
washing up/ hoover mop/tidy/ clean kitchen I would do Christmas evening.

Not true. I don't wear polyester.

Normally I try not to overload myself with housework on the actual Christmas day because it's already packed enough. Even the smartshow 3d video cards are made the day before! Some "lighter" cooking is fine and a minor floor washing might happen as well. No deep cleaning at all.

Anything you bloody well like! 🤷‍♀️ Ironing isn't compulsory and neither is it the morally superior choice!

I might hoover up any fallen 🎄needles, but that’s it. Any kitchen clearing up/loading of dishwasher will be done by others (I’ll have cooked.)

Am I the only one whose mind is boggled by anyone firstly finding a Christmas thread in July and then thinking they'd have something useful to post on it?

What on earths going on @Mushybut 😂

I've just realised why this came up in my watching threads. Because @mushybut was arguing with me about pull-ups and bedwetting on a thread yesterday and has gone to find previous mentions of bedwetting I've made. Hence quoting my post from months ago. Weird behaviour.

Yes, to link that back to the other thread, as I said on that one we use pull-ups when staying out of the home but prefer not to at home to try and not be reliant on them. Doesn't change a thing about my argument on the other thread.

That's crazy behaviour. And then to lie that it came up as a link at the bottom of the page!

No wonder they have time to iron, if they have time to get completely consumed by an argument over pull ups 😂
