Do you have blankets downstairs?

Me and dh are polar opposites temperature wise. I'm always cold and would have the heating on full blast, he's in shorts and a t-shirt all year round at home and doesn't feel the cold.

I don't always want to be in layers. I fancy a small, warm blanket to snuggle under but ds laughed and said only old ladies do that! I'm 46!

We try to have a nice tidy lounge but I'm naturally a messy wreck so do think I'd need to get something smallish that I could fold over the back of the settee.

I crochet and have a couple of pretty blankets but the cat clicks them if I have them on my lap!

We currently have around 5 blankets in the corner of the sofa, DS is autistic so loves it as a sensory thing. The dog also loves them. I’ll just puts a jumper on if I’m cold. Sometimes I put it a bit over my feet. But they get used hella lot.

Definitely have blankets in living room - dining room too. These ones

I wish I hadn’t looked! Some of these are beautiful, I love being snuggled up with a fabulous blanket, it’s one of life’s simple pleasures. I think I may have to add to my collection (20% off as well!).

@PyongyangKipperbang wrong link ?

NImumconfused · 29/11/2024 23:18

Everyone in our house loves a blanket - my 18 year old is never on the sofa without one! Ours aren't heated but are definitely warm enough, especially when the cat sits on top.

Powderblue1 · 29/11/2024 23:19

Yes. We have one each and the kids jump in too

fivebyfivebuffy · 29/11/2024 23:20

Heated throws are definitely the thing, and keep the bills down if you are on your own as I am because you just heat yourself and not the room (although going to the loo is a trip to the Arctic!).

Kids laughed when I got one, but fight over it when they are home and all asked for one last Xmas as (all at uni) they realised what a difference it makes financially!

Also highly recommend Hotbots! Not a brand name but the nickname we have given to the heat pads we have. they are about the size of a hand towel and are basically mini electric blankets. You can sit on them, have them over your feet or shoulders and are amazing if you get back pain.

Cost less than £20 and warm you up all through. Life saver and small enough to be packed to take away on trips too. As a fellow nesh, I would strongly suggest you get one

Those are for ears 😁

DH is currently snuggled under one of the two bright pink Disney Princess fleece blankets that have been in our lounge for 20 years.

I don’t just have a blanket I have a selection of them Grin. We have a nice looking wicker basket down the side of the sofa they get folded up into when they’re not in use. No greater pleasure in life than being all cosy under a fluffy blanket while a cat snores on your lap.

Same. They are folded in a lovely wicker hamper. But also agree a heated throw is absolutely the way forward there’s one of them in my hamper too.
dd is 21 and ds2 14 and both love a blanket on the sofa.

Enko · 29/11/2024 23:22

Well I'm.in my 50s now but we have always had a blanket by the sofa. All 4 of our children went to uni with a blanket too.

MrsAga · 29/11/2024 23:24

I always have one folded over the back of the sofa for evening sitting. Soon as I head to sit down, the dog runs thru, jumps on her blanket and pulls mine down ready for me too.

Alainlechat · 29/11/2024 22:40

Yep I have blankets, on the back of the sofa, in my garden office and the garden swing. I'd also have one in the car on the passenger seat if I could get away with it.

Love a snuggly blanket and I always have.

I have a little blanket in the car - it was was the DC's pram blanket when they were tiny. I put it over my lap while I'm waiting for the car interior to get up to temperature Grin

I think a lot of people do now because they can’t afford to have the heating on. Which is pathetic really in a developed country such as ours. Is this really where we are heading? And it’s only going to get worse with the push to net zero, prices are only going to get even higher.

Why pathetic? It costs next to nothing to wear a blanket on the couch, and it's snuggly and makes the room feel cosy. Surely better than central heating regardless of your finances? Out of all of the sacrifices we will need to make as a species in order to keep living on this planet, a couch blanket is surely one of the nicer ones!

I have about 6 that move from sofa to chair and sometimes bed, plus 2 'nice' ones that basically decorate the sofa. I don't know anyone who doesn't have blankets!

fivebyfivebuffy · 29/11/2024 23:24

I did also have a nice blanket basket but now it's a cat bed apparently

Milkand2sugarsplease · 29/11/2024 23:25

2 blankets currently on the sofa.

1 absolutely massive blanket that Santa is bringing for us all to share

Me and DS have an oodie each

Several HWBs available too!!

But I hate the central heating being on so I'll do anything to avoid that.

hereismydog · 29/11/2024 23:27

I have five blankets on my sofa year round 😁

This one is everybody’s favourite, though.

The thought of sitting down to watch tv without a blanket is just appalling to me.

SallyLo · 29/11/2024 23:28

Just this very night brought down 2 gorgeous winter/christmassy blankets, including one for the cat 🎄

Powerofflower · 29/11/2024 23:28

Yes! Warmth is the answer! And they match the decor! 😂

Isatis · 29/11/2024 23:29

Another crocheter here. I find it an absolute godsend to be able to put a blanket over my lap or around my shoulders when it's chilly. It's probably saved us quite a lot of money on heating bills. I made the blankets originally because it was easy and I remember wondering what on earth I was going to do with them. Now I wonder how I would manage without them.

Tryonemoretime · 29/11/2024 23:29

I snuggle under a Welsh blanket on our sofa. And I've also discovered Uniqlo long sleeved ultra heat vests - absolute game changer for me!

I think it’s time I had seasonal blankets. It’s the next step in life for me. TK Maxx I’m coming for ya!!

ManchesterLu · 29/11/2024 23:31

There's no limit on being warm. If you can't warm the house because he's warm, why does he think he deserves to be comfortable but you don't?

We have a number of different options of blankets, heated blankets, weighted blankets etc. I'm 34.

OnlyinBlackandWhite · 29/11/2024 23:33

I have the heating on and have blankets, it's not an either/or. Be toasty if you can.

pitterypattery00 · 29/11/2024 23:34

I can't relax on the sofa without a blanket! Have had one since my mid 20s - and still have the same one 20 years later! It's one of my favourite possessions 😂
