I need to tell someone!

Today, I was looking for an espresso cup and discovered that they are currently as rare as hens teeth.
While going into one of several charity shops in my town, I was shocked to see a coffee set in a dining set that I had.
This set was from the 60's and was only used for important occasions. I inherited it when my dad died and it sat in a cupboard gathering dust. My dad has been gone since 2005.
I was totally shocked, to the point where I apologised to the shop lady and explained the reason why I was.
15 minutes later, she had my entire collection and I now have an empty cupboard.
Had I not seen this, that set would have sat in a cupboard until I died.

Sorry I don't understand

you bought cups from a charity shop?

SabreIsMyFave · 12/11/2024 23:05

So you found something that your family owned many decades ago..

And you gave all yours away to the charity shop?

I am confused. ❓

.

icantfindmyphone · 12/11/2024 23:06

So you donated your coffee set to a charity shop that had the exact same set already ?

Erm what?

fourelementary · 12/11/2024 23:06

What now? You saw a set you used to have but then you gave it away as you’ve got an empty cupboard now? Or you had a set that you could add to that one? If so… great! But what about the espresso cups????

Littletreefrog · 12/11/2024 23:08

How many espressos have you had?

SkaneTos · 12/11/2024 23:09

I think OP means that she completed/expanded the charity shop's coffee set by donating the set that she had in her cupboard.

Edited

But what's that got to do with espresso cups being rare 😂

Is everyone on drugs here tonight?

Mad threads galore.

I think OP was looking for an espresso cup, and that's why OP visited the charity shop.
And found the coffee set. And then donated the matching cups from home.

But I may be wrong.

Fiery30 · 12/11/2024 23:14

Why did you apologise to the shop lady? So poorly written 😖

There’s a few “espressos” being consumed tonight it seems

CurlyhairedAssassin · 12/11/2024 23:19

Glad it's not just me....

chollysawcutt · 12/11/2024 23:20

Do you feel better now you've told someone?

Zonder · 12/11/2024 23:24

It made sense to me. The charity shop had the coffee set that matched the dining set OP inherited from her dad. She didn't want any of it so gave her set to the charity shop to match what they had. Now she has an empty cupboard for when she finds the espresso cups she is looking for.

purpleme12 · 12/11/2024 23:27

This thread made me laugh 😂

Sweet baby Jebus all I wanted, was to share something because I had no one else to talk to.
I didn't realise this was a creative writing essay.
I was looking for espresso cups.
The charity shop had some crockery that was the same as a set that I had inherited.
I was amazed that it was there, cuz I'd never seen it anywhere else.
I apologised because I was amazed that it was there and I was standing in the shop gobsmacked.
I went home and removed the set I had, from my kitchen cupboard and put it into a shopping trolley and trundled to the charity shop and removed the items, TO ADD TO THE SET THEY ALREADY HAD. Because I would never use it, as I am on my own and ain't nobody gonna invade my safe space.

I'd love to know what make the crockery was. It must've been a real blast from the past seeing it there.

Why don't you let anyone in your home?
