I need to tell someone!

Today, I was looking for an espresso cup and discovered that they are currently as rare as hens teeth.
While going into one of several charity shops in my town, I was shocked to see a coffee set in a dining set that I had.
This set was from the 60's and was only used for important occasions. I inherited it when my dad died and it sat in a cupboard gathering dust. My dad has been gone since 2005.
I was totally shocked, to the point where I apologised to the shop lady and explained the reason why I was.
15 minutes later, she had my entire collection and I now have an empty cupboard.
Had I not seen this, that set would have sat in a cupboard until I died.

Is this a riddle?

Is this a riddle?

No.
Who knew that wanting to share something would create so much crap.

Some lucky person who otherwise couldn’t afford a set of dishes will now get to have one, thanks to you, @Caswallonthefox.
Well done.

I love this op! I kinda wanna see the set now!

twentysevendresses · 12/11/2024 23:42

The bit I'm still confused about OP (now that you've clarified the rare old set that you've now donated to the charity shop)...is the espresso cups? What's this got to do with your rare old donated set? 😵‍💫

Littletreefrog · 12/11/2024 23:08

How many espressos have you had?

😹

purpleme12 · 12/11/2024 23:44

It feels like this is one of those threads that will quickly turn into OP swearing and insulting people and being troll like....

Sweet baby Jesus all I wanted, was to share something because I had no one else to talk to

I understood what you meant completely, OP. 😊
Hopefully, someone will buy the whole lot now and your dad’s set will be on active service again, with a decent donation to a good cause to boot.

Well it was a bit confusing, and all you did was give some old cups to the charity shop.

Notsuchafattynow · 12/11/2024 23:48

Did the cups have thin lips?

INeedAnotherName · 12/11/2024 23:48

Is ☕ the new 🍿?

It's fine to share OP but lay off the 🍷 before posting 😉 and I hope you find your espresso mugs soon. I'm sure I've seen them in Sainsburys recently.

snowsjoke · 12/11/2024 23:50

What's Tuscany got to do with the price of fish?

BusyFinch · 12/11/2024 23:51

I understood your original post well enough, but what did you mean by the comment ‘Tuscany is all I know’??

Withdrawn at OP's request.

WhatNext24 · 12/11/2024 23:52

Well done OP. It can be very cathartic to let go of things from the past. And now you have space for the espresso cups when you find them! Plus someone else will get a great dining set and the charity makes some money. Win-win-win.

I have found Le Creuset espresso cups in TK Maxx several times before - could be worth a look if you have one.

sadeightiesthrowback · 12/11/2024 23:54

Google it, yes.

78Summer · 12/11/2024 23:54

It’s a nice story.
So many people have an inherited tea set that they feel they should not give away (myself included) so well done for clearing the space.

Toseland · 12/11/2024 23:55

Was it Eternal Bow? 😂

Caswallonthefox · 12/11/2024 23:55

I went into the charity shop to see if they had any espresso cups originally.
They had a coffee pot plus cups in the same set that I had.
Which consists of tea cups and saucers, small, medium and large plates, small and normal sized dishes. One oval plate, one gravy jug plus plate, one cream jug and one oval plate.
I decided that they would be better added to what they had rather than sitting in my cupboard gathering dust.

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 12/11/2024 23:58

I get it. The set you had at home was taking up space and gathering dust, but now it will go to someone who loves it and you will have space at home. And it wouldn't have happened if you hadn't been browsing for something quite different. It's a nice story.

How many espressos have you had?

Just the one, but all they had at the charity shop was a giant Sports Direct mug so now she’s off her tits.
