Any one else with a favourite song from the nineties that no one else remembers?

Mine is Operaa House by Malcolm McLaren. I spent many a happy hour being driven through New Zealand as a kid torturing my parents by singing along to this and Aria on Air but no one I’ve meet seems to know of it. Still absolutely adore it as an adult but sadly no better at singing it.

1963-94 by New Order. Bloody loved that song.

Still love New Order from that era.

You’re the Voice by John Farnham. Was 1986 rather than 1990s but close enough?

My husband heard this on some late night tv show. No Shazam app or internet in them days - he went into the local record store and hummed it to the assistant until they identified it and sold him it! 😃

BananaSpanner · 01/11/2024 19:29

Yes by McAlmont and Butler. It’s a great break up song.

Surely everyone remembers this song. It’s a classic!

I am sure some people remember it but Sadeness by Enigma.

I bloody love that song and still listen to it now

Hard to name sonfs that no one else remembers as the last 2 were massive songs. If they featured on the NOW series they arent forgettable.

DCIGeneHunt · 01/11/2024 19:35

I’ve had one in my head for years and I can’t remember the title or artist - it’s infuriating!

I’ve tried searching the lyrics and singing it to friends but no one can remember it.

Do you remember this?

We were put upon this planet
to love and help each other
at least I think that’s the way god planned it
why then hurt your brother?

we come from earth
sister or brother
we come from earth
whatever colour

St Swithin's Day by Dubstar. Walked around Oxford with my Walkman in listening to them.

Jeez have you never been to Australia they are still bloody obsessed with this song and “Johnny” Farnham is a living legend 😉😜.

It’s a top tune.

OliviaRodrighost · 01/11/2024 19:37

Hanging Around by MeMeMe.

It was a “supergroup” involving Alex James from Blur and some other Britpop types. I don’t think it was the success they hoped for. But it slaps and the video is hilariously bad 😄

I particularly like the deep and meaningful lyric: “He said everything is free, I like coffee you like tea” 🤣

My autistic 3 year DD had that on repeat for a year until it was upgraded to I'm A Barbie Girl the following year.

I love watching the old TOTPs from the 90s on BBC4 and thinking “Oh my god I haven’t heard this for years!”

This is a good list to go through, I’d forgotten about “classics” like The Bartman (I had the lyrics on a page torn out from Smash Hits on my bedroom wall!) 🤣

"This is how we party" by Soap. Gives me a lot of nostalgia of a family holiday to Anglesey, I think 1998 or 1999.

If Love is a Red Dress (Hang Me In Rags) Maria McKee, from Pulp Fiction.

I was a dramatic teenager, suffering from a serious crush.

That's always on the radio so I'm sure lots of people have heard it

Kiss the Rain - by Billie Myers (strong French exchange trip memories)

Your Woman by White Town (had it on single cassette)
