Any one else with a favourite song from the nineties that no one else remembers?

Mine is Operaa House by Malcolm McLaren. I spent many a happy hour being driven through New Zealand as a kid torturing my parents by singing along to this and Aria on Air but no one I’ve meet seems to know of it. Still absolutely adore it as an adult but sadly no better at singing it.

Everyone is naming songs that are extremely well known. Almost like they can't be arsed to read the post properly

Anyway OP, I'll offer up Alice by SOM. Which of course lots will know but perhaps not as many who know 'you're the voice'

Who the fuck is SOM?

Walkaway by Cast.

Played at the end credits of the BBC coverage as England lost on pens against Germany at Euro '96.

An awful lot of these songs listed are famous.

R00tat00tt00t · 01/11/2024 20:34

I remember that one! @RichardOsmansFreakishlyBigHand
How about Life is Like a Dance? No where near as fun but still stuck in my head after all these years!

CaveMum · 01/11/2024 20:33

Random ones that have popped into my head:

Ooh La La - The Wiseguys
Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) - The Offspring
Chasing Rainbows - Shed Seven
Temptation Waits - Garbage (because it was on the Buffy Official Soundtrack!)

Loved Temptation Waits!
“You come on like a drug, I just can’t get enough…”

That Buffy album rocked!

terracottafarm · 01/11/2024 20:36

Roxette - Paint. I am only 29 but I grew up with my Mum listening to their albums, and sadly not one of my friends knows any of their songs apart from 'It must've been love'. Breaks my heart. Such an underrated band.

Who wants to read a thread of songs they've never heard of though?

I picked ones that I was passionate about at the time, but that you never ever hear played on the radio any more.

I agree some listed here are more obvious than others but you're always going to have that on these threads.

Kneidlach · 01/11/2024 20:36

Oblivion by Terrorvision

Also Love is the Law by the Seahorses

Edited

Joyride was an amazing album.

I was a big fan of The Shirehorses.

“You’re not alone” by Olive, 1997- memories of my last few weeks of uni!

terracottafarm · 01/11/2024 20:38

@BananaSpanner Absolutely! Look Sharp was my favourite. What I would've done to see them live!

Yep, about 80% of songs so far would not be songs many/most don't remember.

"Kiss the rain", huge song.

Just thought of one myself; "I love you always forever", another big song.

LunaNorth · 01/11/2024 20:39

Cut Your Hair by Pavement
Changes by Sugar
Hit by The Sugarcubes

Agreed! Also the Cruel Intentions Soundtrack - The Verve, Skunk Anansie, Placebo, Blur, etc. Awesome line up.

Yes! I loved this album too!
I still listen to it occasionally.

This might not be 90s might be early 2000s but it lives rent free in my head every time I say ‘we’re going shopping’ to my dd 😁

Thinking About Your Love - Kenny Thomas

That's a good choice, fair play 👍

GellerYeller · 01/11/2024 20:43

Disco Down, Shed Seven
Special, Garbage
Selfish and Tasty Fish, The Other Two. I think they were featured in early episodes of Cold Feet. So 90s!

honeyfox · 01/11/2024 20:44

Great thread, currently compiling a playlist!

Loved Rain by Madonna, never heard it much since it came out.

gano · 01/11/2024 20:45

You're in a Bad Way by St Etienne.
I was eight when I first heard it, because I used to borrow my 19 year old cousins CDs. She was always trying to steer me away from the likes of Take That and towards cooler and quirkier bands. Still love St Etienne now.

User135644 · 01/11/2024 20:45

Comedy by Shack. Great tune.

R00tat00tt00t · 01/11/2024 20:46

Wide Open Space - Mansun

Loving everyone's suggestions, takes me back to carefree teenage days...

Jifmicroliquid · 01/11/2024 20:46

Sale of the Century- Sleeper
I still get ridiculously happy when I hear that song.

That's her "weak" period, but I loved that one too.
