Any one else with a favourite song from the nineties that no one else remembers?

Mine is Operaa House by Malcolm McLaren. I spent many a happy hour being driven through New Zealand as a kid torturing my parents by singing along to this and Aria on Air but no one I’ve meet seems to know of it. Still absolutely adore it as an adult but sadly no better at singing it.

@R00tat00tt00t Oh my life Atlantic252. I'm 17 again!

@RebeccaDecember Secret Smile by Semisonic is a good one, that was late nineties I think. no-one I know ever remembers it 🙂

She Hits Me by The 4 Of Us. I often think I'm the only one who ever heard it when I was doing A levels back in 1992.

Scutterbug · 01/11/2024 20:12

Carter USM - 30 something

Jifmicroliquid · 01/11/2024 20:13

Glorious by Andreas Johnson. Late 90s but brings back a lot of memories for me.
Not many people remember it when I mention it.

Ocean colour scene the day we caught the train

I think anyone who went to university from the 2000s to present day would be familiar with this - it's a student nightclub favourite

PanettoneSoprano · 01/11/2024 20:13

No but I bloody love a 90s music thread

R00tat00tt00t · 01/11/2024 20:14

@springbabydays Amazing! Happy someone else remembers it! They basically played the same 10 songs on repeat for about 5 years! 😂
(Walking in Memphis - Marc Cohn, What is Love - Haddaway, Mr Wendall - Arrested Development etc) There's a playlist on Spotify if you want to reminisce...

SameOldMeals · 01/11/2024 20:14

You don’t need to be Australian to know You’re The Voice. I’ve heard it on the radio many times and it always appears on ‘80s compilation albums.

Walking on the Milky Way - OMD

Alice Band - I Quit.

Proper London vibes.

Wasn’t that by Hepburn?

Set Adrift on Memory Bliss by P.M. Dawn
Such a teenage throwback

I feel like this might be a good thread to mention that I saw Alanis Morrisette is touring the UK next year. She did a tour of Jagged Little Pill for it’s 25th (😖) anniversary a few years back and I missed it- still gutted.

Oh I need to go to this, but not with DH. I used to drive up and down the M1 (we both moved away at various points) with one of my close girl friends singing to this until we were hoarse.

Ocean colour scene the day we caught the train

I listen to this pretty much daily.

I've just thought of two - U.K.R.I.P by Dodgy and Travelling Not Running by EMF (schubert dip was album name!)

LOVED Atlantic252. I’m 16, on my tractor on my Dads farm in 1996 on a Sunday night listening to Graham Torrington’s late night love.

I first knew the internet was a double edged sword when I looked up Graham Torrington and he looked nothing like his voice sounded 😅

Oh yes and He's on the Phone by St Etienne.

SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament · 01/11/2024 20:19

Not my absolute favourite, but loved The Sundays - Here Where The Story Ends.

Totally underrated. They woz robbed by Sixpence None The Richer and co.

springbabydays · 01/11/2024 20:10

They are touring next year with Kula Shaker.

You may have just made my day!! Thank you for this

OverthinkingOlive · 01/11/2024 20:20

I bet nobody remembers or even heard these...

Lullaby - Shawn Mullins
Tuesday Afternoon - Jennifer Grey
Stand By Me - 4 The Cause
Orange - Orange
Freakytime - Point Break
Summer Girls - Lyte Funky Ones

❤️

arinya · 01/11/2024 20:20

Most of the songs listed are really popular.

This is a song hardly anyone remembers from 1998!

GellerYeller · 01/11/2024 20:21

@RichardOsmansFreakishlyBigHand St Etienne! Who do you think you are, Hobart Paving, Hug My Soul. Awesome. Gary Davies used to play Join our Club all the time on Radio 1. Happy memories.
Also Mrs Robinson, The Lemonheads. I’ve no idea why I’ve connected those two bands😂

SallyMcBeal · 01/11/2024 20:21

@MyUmberSeal It is a lovely song.

Fucketbucket · 01/11/2024 20:22

Gene - olympian
Stiktskin- inside
Roachford - cry for me
Bluetones - things change

PrincessHoneysuckle · 01/11/2024 20:22
