Who will win US Election - Gut feelings

EveryBiteinBangkok · 24/10/2024 13:00

I have been half following online and media coverage of the US Election. It is getting close now. What is your gut feeling on who is going to win?

About a month ago, I felt fairly confident that Kamala Harris would win (who I want to win). Now though I am not sure and the amount of rumour and almost conspiracy around it online seems to be reaching fever pitch.

If you had to place a bet (grand national style) who would you go for?

I'm hanging on for Anthony Scaramucci and Katty Kay tomorrow 🙏

yes i have been listing to them

AS isn't sounding as confident as he was a few weeks ago I wish Harris's team listened to them too

Interesting how we are quite a few pages in and still nobody can list Harris's actual achievements other than she's been the VP.

Valid point but anyone demanding an answer to this should be able to do likewise for their presidential choice.

KnickerlessParsons · 24/10/2024 15:40

America won't vote for a black/Indian female president, so Trump will win.

I would really love Harris to win, but fear it will be Trump.

Another Trump presidency would be a global disaster. I really can't imagine why anyone at all could vote for him. He's a piece of shit.

Well, biting for a moment, even though it's a fool's errand, what do you say about Trump's demonstrable and avowed admiration for authoritarianism, his association with Project 2025, his lies, dishonesty, sexual misconduct, support for the January 6th insurrection ("a day of love" - seriously?) etc. I strongly disagree that Harris has done nothing (google is your friend), but even if it were true, I'd take it over the things that are actually on Trump's record.

So you support a rapist?

He's never been found guilty of rape, nor was he found liable for rape

EveryBiteinBangkok · 24/10/2024 13:29

I heard a video may drop soon showing Trump being in appropriate with a young woman. But even if this is true (there is so much rumour online), I am not convinced it would hurt him at this point- with his civil conviction and all the other allegations not seeming to bother his followers.

It won’t hurt him at all. The people voting for him are doing so to reduce federal taxes and to bring in protectionist tariffs to (supposedly) safeguard US jobs. They know he’s a scumbag but his moral character is an irrelevance to them.

Sexual abuse is okay in your book, then. Riiiight.

OK, so I've googled. Apparently one of her achievements was to ensure men could access women's bathrooms. Nice.

Harris made me pray for Trump.

She can't speak, changes accents, lies, doesn't have anything concrete to say, repeats the same previously learned lines and blames Trump. She can speak about abortion and how bad Trump is. He's at fault for everything that's wrong in America, although she is in the government

"Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region." What?!

The need to do things that 'haven't been done, but need to be done'

"We need to guard that spirit. We have to guard that spirit. Let it always inspire us. Let it always be the source of our optimism, which is that spirit that is uniquely American. Let that then inspire us by helping us to be inspired to solve the problems that so many face, including our small business owners,"

  • middle class, opportunity economy, dreams ambitions aspirations - they can make a drinking game with these.

I can't even imagine her trying to negociate peace with Putin, or talk to the Iranians

You can't in all seriousness criticise her for rambling and telling lies and not see that Trump does the exact same but in a far more dangerous manner? Surely to god you can see what he is. The man is a highly dangerous, despicable idiot.

But no reasoned defense of Trump's virtues. If that's the best you can do, it's pretty telling. We're done here, I think.

Gut feeling is Trump. I just don’t think the US is ready for a woman president and if they were it wouldn’t be Harris as she is not a particularly spectacular candidate and is without any kind of unifying message. Her main selling point seems to be that she is not Trump rather than being of any substance herself.

muddyford · 24/10/2024 16:11

Think it will be Trump. Much as I loathe him.

IdleAnimations · 24/10/2024 16:19

andIsaid · 24/10/2024 15:19

I hope it is Harris but I feel Trump will get it simply because I cannot see enough of the US voting in a female president of colour.

Americans voted for a woman when H. Clinton won the popular vote.

Americans voted for a president of colour when they voted for Barak Obama. Twice.

Harris is not a good candidate.

Her only pitch is - he is bonkers and I am not him.

However, we need her to win!

Well look at you coming round these parts spitting facts instead of hysterical nonsense 😂

I note that Harris identity is all people can talk about or that she isn’t Trump. She didn’t even win her own parties vote and was only installed because of identity, Biden said so himself. There were far better female candidates who could be competent, Harris is a mess.

Of course I can, as it's my opinion. I can pick one idiot out of 2. At least he has a chance to bring peace

Sampler · 24/10/2024 16:23

Trump bring peace ? By capitulating to Putin you mean ?

Lonelycrab · 24/10/2024 16:26

What absolutely fries my brain with voters who support Trump, despite his numerous atrocious character defects (you could write an encyclopaedia on them there’s that many!) is; the events of January the 6th that the entire world watched in horror. Trump just stood there, silent, for hours whilst his armed supporters attempted a coup, baying for the blood of his VP.

How on earth can you vote for someone that’s done that?!?

Sampler · 24/10/2024 16:23

Yes. By talking to both sides and actively finding a solution
You obviously don't know what I mean, and your atempt to sarcasm is poor.
America is not at war with Russia, so he cannot capitulate to Putin.
I can't see Kamala, who hasn't decided yet how her name is supposed to be pronounced, negociating peace with Russia and Ukraine.

oakleaffy · 24/10/2024 16:29

Trump beyond all doubt.

Putin will probably help .

Yennah · 24/10/2024 16:31

Harris hasn’t yet decided how her own name is pronounced? I think you’ll find she has…
Besides, if that is the best criticism MAGA supporters can throw at her, she’s doing a pretty great job!

Trump (sadly)

Yeah I think so too - it’ll be close but I don’t think they’ll vote for a woman.

I was aghast and in disbelief that he won last time.

This time I'm prepared for it.

This

Elphamouche · 24/10/2024 16:51

My gut says Trump :(. Every fibre of my being is screaming at the USA to vote Harris.
