Who will win US Election - Gut feelings

EveryBiteinBangkok · 24/10/2024 13:00

I have been half following online and media coverage of the US Election. It is getting close now. What is your gut feeling on who is going to win?

About a month ago, I felt fairly confident that Kamala Harris would win (who I want to win). Now though I am not sure and the amount of rumour and almost conspiracy around it online seems to be reaching fever pitch.

If you had to place a bet (grand national style) who would you go for?

@1dayatatime
I've read chunks of Project 2025
which has now been announced as the plan for the incoming Trump presidency

yes, Vance is much much scarier than Trump
because Trump only has reactions
not ideas

ladymactíre · 07/11/2024 16:16

Who announced Project 2025 as the plan for the incoming Trump presidency?

Talkinpeace · 07/11/2024 17:09

Anybody who denies Project 2025 was always the plan has clearly not read it.

Well, it was a question asked in good faith, as Trump said he hasn't read it

Talkinpeace · 07/11/2024 18:56

Trump does not read ANYTHING
but his funders and backers have and do

Pureshores499 · 07/11/2024 23:18

Controversial it would seem, bit I'm so glad Trump got in. A few of his policies I'm on the fence with as will be the case with any, but for the most part I love everything he stands for, in particular illegal immigration and boosting the economy. I wish we had strong leadership like him.
Americans voices have been heard loud and clear. It was way beyond a landslide.

ThatsNotMyTeen · 07/11/2024 23:24

It was not “way beyond a landslide”, get a grip

I'll bookmark that for when the economy is "boosted" by his policies

It certainly was. Bye bye Dems 😂

@Pureshores499
Trump got less votes this time than he did in 2020 ......

It wasn’t, on any analysis.

Have a look at Reagan’s wins to see what a landslide actually looks like.

OonaStubbs · 08/11/2024 13:51

The election map looks very red. If not a land slide it was a lot more one sided than I expected. Trump pretty much won everywhere he had a chance of winning.

And then some! He won the popular vote too!

The last election was very suss.
However, this map is RED all over. Regardless of more or less this time, he pretty much nailed it and America has spoken. We can't argue with results, they are there for all to see. America chose him.

HRTQueen · 08/11/2024 14:09

Trump won seats where it wasn't really expected

Republicans have won the Senate and in the lead to win the House of Representatives at present

It was very very good for the Republicans and very very disappointing for the Democrats no matter how much you wish to compare to others . This wasn't expected

Trump received around 1 million less votes Democrats received around 12 million less votes numbers voting was expected to be higher but why didn't so many return to vote for the Democrats. They need to learn from this

ThatsNotMyTeen · 08/11/2024 14:12

I don’t think anyone’s suggesting he didn’t really win?

thats the kind of tactic usually reserved for Trump and his supporters

Maggiethecat · 08/11/2024 14:15

@Pureshores499 - why were the last results suspicious? Because Trump didn’t win?

It’s funny how he and team were playing up about voter irregularities in some states in the run up to this election but have gone very quiet about this now. I wonder why?

America should be thankful that a very decent president and VP currently occupy the WH and that they have made a point to say that the election was fair and that democracy still exists in the US.

So there will be no fear of the peaceful transfer of power not happening this time.

This is how it’s done Donald!

I’ve just been rereading the project 2025 manifesto and it sounds truly terrifying.
Do the Trump cheerleaders on this thread support it?

But a lot of Dem supporters seem in denial that the majority of US is red on this election. It's not a brag-fest, but a statistical fact there for all to see. I think if you look at the majority of comments on this post, most are Dems and Trump haters. The minority are Trump supporters who are quietly happy with the result. There were a LOT of silent voters in this election.

There's so much I agree with. Woke propaganda in school education banned.
Long term abortions banned.
Abortion pills banned.
Illegal immigrants deported -yes!
I could go on....

ChannelLightVessel · 08/11/2024 14:35

The map is always a bit misleading, as it is in U.K., because the Democrats win the generally smaller but densely populated states, just as Labour are particularly successful in small, densely populated urban constituencies. Only when there’s a real Labour landslide, as in 1997 for example, does the map look more red. Same in the USA (with the colours switched).
I absolutely agree that there has been a significant swing to the Republicans across the board, and it looks as if they will control the Senate and the House, as well as the Presidency (and the Supreme Court) until the 2026 mid-terms at the very earliest. It’s a big mountain for the Democrats to climb.

Well with the massive numbers Trump got it sent Harris home very early. Even if they planned to put on a fight the race wasn’t tight at all.

Well as DT doesn’t support project 25 why should they?
