Who will win US Election - Gut feelings

EveryBiteinBangkok · 24/10/2024 13:00

I have been half following online and media coverage of the US Election. It is getting close now. What is your gut feeling on who is going to win?

About a month ago, I felt fairly confident that Kamala Harris would win (who I want to win). Now though I am not sure and the amount of rumour and almost conspiracy around it online seems to be reaching fever pitch.

If you had to place a bet (grand national style) who would you go for?

There are huge swathes of the American electorate who totally cannot handle the concept of a woman being in the top job. Add to that her being a woman of colour, and that just blows their minds.

Trump will get in and will do everything he can to change the rules so that he becomes immovable Dictator Of The World.

Trump (hopefully)

Why🤣

Screamingabdabz · 24/10/2024 13:22

Trump will be a disaster for the whole world but that’s what we are going to get.

And he’s got dictator fantasies. He tried to hack the last election so we could see him in power for a while. Start digging out your bunker now.

Trump unfortunately.

EveryBiteinBangkok · 24/10/2024 13:29

I heard a video may drop soon showing Trump being in appropriate with a young woman. But even if this is true (there is so much rumour online), I am not convinced it would hurt him at this point- with his civil conviction and all the other allegations not seeming to bother his followers.

Trump. And as a pp said if Harris wins it will be carnage. It would be Vance as VP that almost worries me more than Trump.

TheNoonBell · 24/10/2024 13:43

Parker231 · 24/10/2024 13:22

Why🤣

Because he is the least insane of the candidates and has a track record of relative success

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 24/10/2024 13:53

I think it's going to be Trump.
At least then he's done. He can't do a third term.

I mean, that won't stop him trying of course, but I don't think even he can change the two term limit.
He'll have a good crack at it, mind.

Edited

He is insane and his experience is running failed businesses - not great credentials for running a country. When you look at his behaviour and criminal record together with how many times he lies (fact checker are being kept busy!) - he’s totally unsuitable.

threeunrelatedwords · 24/10/2024 13:56

Surely the issue voters have with Kamala Harris is that she is uninspiring, has no policies, and can’t distance herself with her party’s far left excesses. It isn’t her sex or her race.

Reviews of her appearance in front of floating voters on CNN yesterday say that she was a damp squib and had little to say apart from that she used to be a prosecutor and isn’t Trump.

yorktown · 24/10/2024 13:58

Trump.
Unless he actually dies, and even then they might allow him to stand and use VP Vance instead.

jabbaf · 24/10/2024 14:00

Trump.
America wants rid of the Democrats and I sympathise, but it's a shame they can't find a better Republican than orange face

HerbalRefreshmentt · 24/10/2024 14:04

The real risk (and potential actual strategy here) is if Trump wins and the Republicans turn around and Amendment 25 Trump as unfit for office due to well, insanity and then oh how convenient, Vance is now President. A guy who will do the technocrats bidding (and anyone elses) for all the guyliner and cash in the world. Just dont ask him about his wife or abortion rights.

I absentee vote in a tough battleground state. Our votes are going in the post today. Although the county is red, you never ever know and if its going to be that tight (supposedly) its going to matter absolutely.

Trump sadly
I do hope I’m wrong

I’m not very impressed by Harris at all though having a black woman in probably the most powerful position on earth is a good thing.

And that's a big part of why Trump will win: having "a Black Woman" as president isn't a good thing in it's own right. Having the best person, competent, clever, principled, a good communicator, is what's needed regardless of sex and colour. A lot of trump supporters are fed up of the attitude that Identity overrules competence. Now,I don't feel like Trumps a good answer ,but can understand people being pissed off to be told to vote for a third rate choice based on colour or sex

hennybeans · 24/10/2024 14:09

I've voted for Harris already, but sadly, I think trump will win it.

The media have played a huge roll in trump winning. There are huge swathes of Americans who watch nothing but right wing media day in, day out and are essentially brainwashed. I'm related to some of them.

ByMerryKoala · 24/10/2024 14:14

Trump, I suppose. I imagine it would be a completely different story if Biden had the good grace to step down earlier.

TinySmol · 24/10/2024 14:21

Last week, I said Trump.
However having done a bit of research, it seems that Harris is set for a landslide.

stayathomer · 24/10/2024 14:23

Gut unfortunately says Trump. I just don’t think Harris is strong enough :(

EveryBiteinBangkok · 24/10/2024 14:24

It is difficult to comprehend that out of the entire nation these two candidates are the best they can come up with. Not that the UK is much better. "Those who most want to rule people, are ipso facto, those least suited to do it."

You should let the Wall Street Journal know, because their survey found Trump is leading Harris by 2 percentage points, 47% to 45%.

Where did you research?

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 24/10/2024 14:25

I too was hopeful that Harris would win, but that does seem to be changing, so unfortunately it will be Mr Dangerous.

LuckysDadsHat · 24/10/2024 14:25

I think Trump will get it and I wish for almost anyone but him. It's shocking how poor politics is in the USA if these are the 2 selected.

Was just saying that to my husband only last night- but out of them two, I want Trump for president for sure

I don’t know why you say that as there was no wars going on whilst trump was in power
