What's your really pointless super power?

I can tell, just from a photo of their face, if a person has a lisp.

I have yet to find a use for this undoubted super power.

What's your really useless super power?

OP posts:
hanali · 06/10/2024 07:41

I can shoot a fly crawling over a window with an elastic band.

bifurCAT · 06/10/2024 07:42

I have an anti-super power too.

I can watch an entire series on tv, 20 seasons, so almost 500 episodes, and legitimately not know anyone's name. It infuriates my partner!

But conversely, I can recognise people that I went to primary school with (5 years old), 35 years later.

ItsTheTattiesMrsCulfeathers · 06/10/2024 07:56

I can walk into a room and completely forget why I've gone in there.

DilemmaDelilah · 06/10/2024 08:46

While in the car, I can tell if DH is speeding. It is more difficult now we have an electric car, but I am still right 9 times out of 10. DH does not appreciate this super power.

I can also do the Spock sign with with both hands. I can raise one eyebrow, and I can wink very slowly whilst keeping the other eye completely open.

In the future, present or past? Go into my dream.

Wanna try and meet me at the round table tonight ;)

BigDahliaFan · 09/10/2024 11:56

I can tell the time 90% of the time to within 5 minutes without looking at a watch or a clock. That is less useful than it seems as no one believes you.

I can do this with the microwave, even if it's going on for ages, I know how much time is passing and when to get up to get it. I believe you

I did that with 5 Harry Potter books, no idea of any plots or characters except Hagrid.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 09/10/2024 12:37

I have reverse Elsa powers, according to my kids. I have hot hands always. Not entirely useless, if someone's hands are cold I just hold them for a moment and they are instantly warm again.

InMySpareTime · 09/10/2024 13:02

@Dontlletmedownbruce I also have hot hands, often hotter than my head.
The downside is that it's really hard to eat chocolate or hold iced drinks without inadvertently melting them.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 09/10/2024 14:51

I can also read fluently upside down or backwards or any way really. Seemed like a useless talent until I started working with young children a few years ago. I can read a story book while held open up high in one hand so they can see the pictures, without lifting it up and down to read as most people have to do. Even a really wordy book I have never seem before. Fast enough and fluent enough to put on all the voices too. I really should be paid more...

SingingSands · 09/10/2024 15:49

I can wiggle my ears - individually and together. 😂

HandDefence · 09/10/2024 15:56

I can wiggle my ears - individually and together. 😂

Me too as well as my eyebrows.

Snowdrops17 · 09/10/2024 15:57

99% of the time know the plot to anything I'm watching how it will end , who the killer is etc

DilemmaDelilah · 09/10/2024 17:16

@Dontlletmedownbruce I can also read upside down! Always been able to do it. My mum used to say that I astounded her at 5 years old by reading the newspaper headlines upside down.

I am brilliant at diagnosing patients in medical dramas/series also. I'm not medical, but have a certain amount of knowledge and interest, and all the the clues are there!

MarkWithaC · 09/10/2024 17:38

I have the flat/level/central one too, and it IS useful for hanging pictures.
The downside is if I'm in a gallery/shop/waiting room/someone's house etc and there's a picture that's squint, I have to not look or it makes me twitch.

Whatever the opposite of a superpower is called, mine is that I can never find things in bags. I don't use particularly large bags or bags with lots of confusing pockets or compartments, but I seem to spend much of my life rummaging for my cash card/house keys/coffee cup/lip balm/eye drops...

ItsKaos · 09/10/2024 17:38

I can write well with both hands.

Malvala · 09/10/2024 17:42

I’m a supertaster.

As such I can tell when grass fed cows go from pasture to barn in the winter by the taste change in the butter.

Surely the most useless superpower ever!

CountryShepherd · 09/10/2024 17:47

DH can recognise any car from the dashboard, apparently.

When I make cakes, I'm excellent at dividing mixtures in half for two tins, or portioning equal sized cookies without weighing.

VeryQuaintIrene · 09/10/2024 17:50

I'm fantastic at telling how much loose veg in the supermarket is going to weigh.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 09/10/2024 17:50

I’m can cut any treat into the required number of perfectly even sized pieces. A childhood of ‘whoever cuts, the other one gets to choose’ followed by years of parenting 3 kids.

and count seconds really accurately in my head

Killerqueenie · 09/10/2024 18:01

I haven't been able to look at this whole thread, but I'm another one who can move both eyebrows individually, and I can also read upside down.

I can smell when it's going to snow.

ninja · 09/10/2024 22:55

I can spot a 4-leafed clover in a field. I find them frequently and have found them all over the world - it's like a disturbance in the pattern of clovers. Have found hundreds maybe thousands in my life

Completely pointless

DadJoke · 09/10/2024 22:57

I can tell how people have their tea.

PickAChew · 09/10/2024 22:59

ArnieandBob · 04/10/2024 17:24

I can rest my thumb onto my wrist.

I used to be able to do that. I now have a very arthritic thumb that barely moves at all.
