So for tv show:

When the Street Lights Go On.
Really good and equally as sad.

Films …. Maybe Creep 2004, I just rewatched it all these years later. But maybe it’s not as obscure as I think.

Is Creep the train one with that nice Mr Adams from Casualty as the baddie?

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 19:43

Music of the Heart.
A drama based on a true story of a violin teacher in Harlem.
Staring Meryl Streep and directed (rather surprisingly) by Wes Craven.
Absolutely brilliant film.

Gentlemen Broncos.

GrouchyKiwi · 17/09/2024 19:47

I could cheat and name some Kiwi ones. Grin

But I'll go with Better Off Ted (American TV series).

DisneyHag · 17/09/2024 19:48

Last time I mentioned Ultraviolet here I was met with absolute silence.

One of the greatest TV series of all time.

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 19:49

TV - a lot of people have never heard of Third Watch.
Made by the same folks as ER (there was even a cross over episode) but shown at random o'clock on Channel 4. Six seasons but 2 only ever got released on DVD due to music copyright issues.
It was about Police, Fire and Paramedics in Manhattan. Season 3 was due to start in September 2001 but had to be delayed and plots completely changed and re-filmed and a whole new episode 1 filmed.
They set the first episode on September 10th - an ordinary sunny day where not much happens but we (the viewers) knew exactly what was coming.
It was very emotional.

Princessbananahamock · 17/09/2024 19:50

Evil.

SkiingIsHeaven · 17/09/2024 19:50

The Children of An Lac. Probably one of the saddest films I've ever seen. So good though.

birthdaymom · 17/09/2024 19:51

Yes with the little girl who has a stutter @peachese anyone I've ever spoken to has never heard of it

LindorDoubleChoc · 17/09/2024 19:52

Stella Street (British TV series).

EmeraldRoulette · 17/09/2024 19:52

Six Degrees

Jack and Jill

both US shows. Underrated IMHO.

Sounds right up my street - is it on any streaming platform?

Stella Street (British TV series).

Ooh …was John Sessions in that? Not cheating by googling.

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 17/09/2024 19:52

Oliver Beene

RuggedHairyTortoise · 17/09/2024 19:53

The Music of Chance. (My introduction to Paul Auster who I loved for ages, but then he becamse a bit too self regarding).

Not everyone is lucky enough to have Communist parents. (A French film when I was at uni, which I loved but have never found again on any tv.)

I liked Jack and Jill. Did the actor who played Jill ever do anything else? Amanda Peet has been in several terrible films, and a couple of good ones.

colouringindoors · 17/09/2024 19:53

Not that well known in UK, but Emmy award winning TV series: Hacks. Excellent comedy.

I have a very vague memory watching it as a kid at a friends house ... I feel like at one point he’s used watch people put their PIN numbers in and then the guy steals their bank cards??

Stella Street was hilarious, only one of these that I've heard of.

The Americans was a great TV series that no one I know has ever watched.

Is Jack and Jill with Jim Carey? I feel like I tried to watch it and couldn’t get into it.

Absolutely terrific show. You have reminded me that I’m long overdue a rewatch.
