So for tv show:

When the Street Lights Go On.
Really good and equally as sad.

Films …. Maybe Creep 2004, I just rewatched it all these years later. But maybe it’s not as obscure as I think.

Evil.

I loved this but I guess they're not making any more. I live all religion/ supernatural type things. I have seen the actor who plays the priest in quite a lot bit couldn't name him.

Elderflower14 · 17/09/2024 20:41

I've seen Creep... Bloody horrible film. For ages after I didn't like being on a tube platform late at night...
Inside Out was a programme made in the 1980s about newly released prisoners... My Dad was involved in it. Phil Collins did the theme song.

The Deep Concern - a BBC drama serial from the late 1970s. Does anyone remember it?

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 20:42

I'm glad there's so many Third Watch fans out there.
I was slightly obsessed. Channel 4 repeated the whole lot once but at stupid o'clock in the morning so I had to set the video recorder (old skool 😂). I kept the tapes for years but regrettably got rid of them. I mean my actual video player was long gone but I still wish I'd kept them.

Elderflower14 · 17/09/2024 20:42

Oh and Brat Farrar with the gorgeous Mark Greenstreet...

It’s the underground one yeah, can’t say about the Casualty one I’ve never watched it.

Oh I’ve seen that. Equal parts horrible and preposterous.

Mine: Cruising. Stars Al Pacino as a cop infiltrating the New York gay leatherman scene. Also preposterous but also very camp and unintentionally amusing. Good soundtrack too.

Bubba Ho-Tep. "It stars Bruce Campbell as Sebastian Haff, a man residing in a nursing home who claims to be the real Elvis Presley. The film also stars Ossie Davis as Jack, a black man who claims to be John F Kennedy, explaining that he was patched up after the assassination, dyed black, and abandoned." They team up to fight a re-animated mummy that is preying on the nursing home residents. It's funny and wild and sad.

An ex of mine adored that film! I'm not sure I've ever watched it, seen bits of it though.

From a PP - I remember Knightmare! I always wanted to go on it. It would make a great show now with CGI.

I'll add - The young persons guide to becoming a rock star (tv)

Mr Hollands Opus (film)

DH and I were just remembering this this evening! If someone says 'Tuesday' we still say 'Shut up, Vince'...

We also still say "Tuesday!" in Vince's voice on a regular basis. And "Carbonara!"

Ladyof2024 · 17/09/2024 20:45

A black and white film called A Stolen Life which is about identical twin sisters, one of whom is married, and they are in a boat accident and the married one drowns.

The surviving one then pretends to be the married one and attempts to live her sister's life in her house with her husband without him finding out that she's the twin. It's absolutely brilliant and if you get a chance to see it do.

TeatimeForTheSoul · 17/09/2024 20:46

The Tomorrow People

squashyhat · 17/09/2024 20:46

It’s available on Channel 4 - but I’m too scared to watch it again. Those stories lurked in my head for years afterwards.

Joining in the Ultraviolet love. Has anyone yet mentioned a very young, very intense Idris Elba? I honestly don't think he's ever been as good since.

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 20:48

The mystery Rob Brydon spoof film commentaries does actually exist 😍

Brimstone (1998) supernatural thriller crime drama

Moonlight (2007) Vampire drama
Blood Ties (2007) similar

Tru Calling (2003) premonition based drama

Reaper (2007) Ray Wise as the Devil comedy.

Loved Third Watch, not surprised to find many of them (actors) in Grey's Anatomy .. maybe a little surprised to find Bosco (Jason Wiles) in Criminal Minds 🤣

I love Tru Calling! Shame it was pulled during season 2.

Sapphire and Steel

Last time I mentioned Ultraviolet here I was met with absolute silence.

One of the greatest TV series of all time.

Was Jack Davenport in it?

Rina66 · 17/09/2024 20:49

The Mistress with Felicity Kendall and her house bunny!

annieloulou · 17/09/2024 20:49

Dream Stuffing - channnel 4 comedy, shown late Fridays maybe 1984 about 2 girls sharing a flat. Me and my mum used to love it.

A film called Once were Warriors- set in New Zealand about an urbanised Māori community and social issues such as gangs, unemployment, alcoholism, domestic violence. Around 1994. The guy in the video shop recommended it to my DH, I wasnt impressed when he brought it home, but watched it, it was amazing and stayed with me for ages.

SeatbeltExtender · 17/09/2024 20:49

@JaneIves

I love Mr Holland, I have the DVD and the soundtrack CD. Richard Dreyfus should have got an Oscar.
