So for tv show:

When the Street Lights Go On.
Really good and equally as sad.

Films …. Maybe Creep 2004, I just rewatched it all these years later. But maybe it’s not as obscure as I think.

@Needmorelego Oh no! It was Criminal Minds killed my Bosco crush 😅

@GrouchyKiwi it was Jason Dohring that lead me to Moonlight. Shame the series didn't get more seasons.

Stella Street was hilarious, only one of these that I've heard of.

The Americans was a great TV series that no one I know has ever watched.

Im surprised you say that about the Americans unless I'm mixing it up with something else, the one about the spies? That was on ITV wasnt it?

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 20:31

Oh here's one that I don't even know the name of (although I'm sure I can Google....) and the only person who remembers it is my sister and we are both convinced we dreamed it.
It was a short programme from when the concept of DVD commentaries were new. It was basically really old episodes of things like cowboy movies from the 50s and the commentaries were spoof ones dubbed over the top.
It was Rob Brydon I think. Or maybe Steve Coogan. Or maybe both.
It was only about 10 minutes long.

SpiderGwen · 17/09/2024 20:31

Marlee Matlin for the oscar for Children of a Lesser God, didn't she?

Ultraviolet was great - the storage facility for vampire dust lingered in my memory for years (take that, stupid Twighlight movies!)

I liked Leaving Normal, with Christine Lahti and Meg Tilly, but no one else seems to know it so I worried I actually dreamt it. One's going to Alaska to the house her bloke promised her, the other is escaping an abusive husband. It was nice.

Deipara · 17/09/2024 20:31

Film - midnight express

Stella Street (British TV series).

That’s a classic! I’ll add Nathan Barley

SonjaBarkerFinch · 17/09/2024 20:33

Loving
Models Inc
Malibu Shores

FrogSplash · 17/09/2024 20:33

Another Ultraviolet fan here - the cast was incredible too!

My little known gem is Mongrels. Makes me cackle and is so underrated.

Wonderwhyibother · 17/09/2024 20:33

Kids tv shows from many years ago, I only know 1 other person who remembers them

Greenclaws
Knightmare

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 17/09/2024 20:34

Wayward Pines aaaand... Hemlock Grove.

Loved both of these but no one I mention it to has heard of them.

marshmallowfinder · 17/09/2024 20:34

TV- Break in the Sun
Film-Children of a Lesser God

DisneyHag · 17/09/2024 20:35

TV The Onedin Line with the wonderful Anne Stallybrass.

That was fabulous! So glamorous, so dramatic.

Applestrudel71 · 17/09/2024 20:35

Joe’s apartment.. dad and I used to roar with laughter at this film when I was (much) younger. Great memories but hardly anyone’s ever seen it.

The Music of Chance. (My introduction to Paul Auster who I loved for ages, but then he becamse a bit too self regarding).

Not everyone is lucky enough to have Communist parents. (A French film when I was at uni, which I loved but have never found again on any tv.)

I'm giggling to myself cos I thought you were telling us that you had communist parents and that's why you were lucky enough to have seen The Music of Chance. I was a bit confused but continued to scroll. I now realise that's the name of the film 🤣

TV - a lot of people have never heard of Third Watch.
Made by the same folks as ER (there was even a cross over episode) but shown at random o'clock on Channel 4. Six seasons but 2 only ever got released on DVD due to music copyright issues.
It was about Police, Fire and Paramedics in Manhattan. Season 3 was due to start in September 2001 but had to be delayed and plots completely changed and re-filmed and a whole new episode 1 filmed.
They set the first episode on September 10th - an ordinary sunny day where not much happens but we (the viewers) knew exactly what was coming.
It was very emotional.

I loved this series! I forgot it existed. It was so good and the September special was very emotional. I liked the female police officer.

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 20:36

@Applestrudel71 Joe's Apartment - that was Jerry O'Connell and some giant cock roaches wasn't it?

I remember this.

Very watchable it was, and then disappeared

That film is very powerful, maybe I'm older than you or it was just my friends but it was a must see when I was younger. I wonder if it's stood the test of time. I almost dont want to check in case it hasnt

Sure was… fabulous singing cockroaches! Ha, sooo silly

A27009D56 · 17/09/2024 20:38

Issi Noho ….was a children’s programme in the 70’s about a panda that had magical powers and lived in a packing case at the bottom of the garden. It was good, honestly!

Jbck · 17/09/2024 20:38

Reaper was excellent, also loved Third Watch.

Several of these might seem obscure due to the posters age, Midnight Express and Children of a Lesser God for example are very well known.

jonnyjanetkeogh · 17/09/2024 20:38

So Haunt Me. Loved that show.

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 17/09/2024 20:39

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 20:03

@AlwaysFoldingWashing I remember Oliver Beene. I don't remember it having more than about a dozen episodes though 😂

Two seasons I think. I really liked it and was sad to see it discontinued

Jbck · 17/09/2024 20:40

X posted with DreamW3aver, great minds 😂
