So for tv show:

When the Street Lights Go On.
Really good and equally as sad.

Films …. Maybe Creep 2004, I just rewatched it all these years later. But maybe it’s not as obscure as I think.

Raise the red lanterns.

Chinese film about being a woman within ancient Chinese society. Left a huge impression on me as a young person, but no one I spoke to has seen it!

Evil.

I loved this! Gutted that's it finished though 😞

Fishcake18 · 17/09/2024 20:51

Il Postino..

Though think that one's more well known? About Pablo Neruda's time on an Italian island..

Perzival · 17/09/2024 20:52

The last dragon film from the 80's. King fu and music, really Corney but fun.

A view from the top film. Cabin crew film again Corney.

The inside man film. About a bank robbery.

Last Vegas film. Great cast about older men having a blow out in vegas.

Going in style film. Another great cast and Morgan Freeman again about older people robning a bank.

Why women kill, series.

TV The Onedin Line with the wonderful Anne Stallybrass.

That was fabulous! So glamorous, so dramatic.

Is that the 1970s series ? If so it was very popular at the time.

DannSindWirHelden · 17/09/2024 20:52

Can I be the first person to mention Darkplace?
One of the funniest things I've ever seen, featuring a very young Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade, it's a 2004 spoof of terrible 1980s American dramas.

Welcome to Plathville - I don't know why but I love this show.
La Femme Nikita - used to stay up late to watch this. (I didn't have a video recorder Smile)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/09/2024 20:54

Gentlemen and Players - series from about 1984 , used to be shown on a Sunday evening.
I found it on YouTube , it was not worth a revisit !

The Tomorrow People

I watched this when I was in school.

CatsLikeBoxes · 17/09/2024 20:56

@Needmorelego I loved third watch - I seem to remember it was on at some really odd time like 10am on a weekday. Something really awkward anyway

GellerYeller · 17/09/2024 20:56

Ladies of London. A very upper crust Real Housewives of type series, featuring American women and some British socialites vaguely connected to the aristocracy.

Stella Street (British TV series).

I often watch Stella St on YT, love it when Mick and Keith from the Stones are running the corner shop.
"Ere Keith, have you seen the date on these marshmallows?"😆
Cornwall and Sessions together, pure genius.

Issi Noho ….was a children’s programme in the 70’s about a panda that had magical powers and lived in a packing case at the bottom of the garden. It was good, honestly!

I remember this. I think it may have been regional, as I remember it, then moved areas aged eight (1978). People who I then get up with hadn’t heard of it.

RenoDakota · 17/09/2024 20:58

Anyone seen Elvira Madigan? Haunting film, and score.
No-one I have ever mentioned it to has heard of it.

Countrydiary · 17/09/2024 20:59

Greenclaws, kids tv show

Perzival · 17/09/2024 21:00

Alcatraz tv show and warehouse 13 also a tv show.

Needmorelego · 17/09/2024 21:02

@CatsLikeBoxes yeah you had the random daytime repeats which had to be edited down so much you'd lose half the episode !
It was such an odd time of day to show it.

BadBones60 · 17/09/2024 21:04

Mine is a NZ one (2006) - Out Of The Blue about the Aramoana shootings

kittyfayne · 17/09/2024 21:05

The Painted Veil.

Oh good lord, it's beautiful, heart-breaking, tragic and so erotic. No one's ever heard of it

CrispAppleStrudels · 17/09/2024 21:06

Rubicon. Only one series. Brilliant drama that i think was on BBC 4 at the time? My DF and I avidly waited for a new episode each week. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubicon_(TV_series)

I've grown out of it now, but my favourite show was called Kenny Vs Spenny. A Canadian show. No idea how I found out about it.

La Femme Nikita! I ended up buying all the seasons on amazon when I couldn't find them for free anywhere else. Oh the nostalgia! Plus I went off to uni (and no tv in my room) before the show ended, so I never knew how it ended!

Speaking of 90s stuff I stayed up late to watch, Let The Blood Run Free, an Aussie spoof soap. I loved Matron Dorothy Conniving Bitch! 😆

Elderflower14 · 17/09/2024 21:07

Just remembered The Playboys from 1992 with the gorgeous Aidan Quinn.
It was filmed in Southern Ireland. My late DH and I were staying in Dingle just after it came out. We had an early dinner one night and were walking round Dingle. The cinema was showing the film so we decided to.watch it. What an excellent decision..!!

I LOVE that film! Haven't thought about it in ages though!
