MN rules for life - shame edition

There have been so many bonkers threads lately where OPs have been shamed for what most people in real life would considered normal that I think some MNetters live in an alternate universe.

Shaming people for relatively normal things is off the charts right now.
I’ve got a list of things I now look out for on threads to play rules bingo - please add your MN bingo rules for life: shame edition!

  • if you drink alone or at home, you have a drinking problem
  • drinking whilst being a parent? JAIL
  • express an opinion or anger about violence against women and girls - you are a misandrist and a man hater cos NAMALT
  • Got a sex life that is not vanilla but harms no one? You should have more respect for yourself, you harlot
  • Like to eat food that isn’t green and in larger portions than matchbox size? You are ‘scoffing’ and ‘gorging’ on rubbish, piggy
  • Got a twatty partner who does things to drive you mad? Have you looked at yourself to see why you are causing this?
  • Need to go no contact with toxic family or parents? You only get one mother / father and should take any shit they throw at you because someone who has no experience of abuse or family dysfunction thinks you sound selfish and childish. And didn’t you know some people have dead parents and you are being SO disrespectful to them?
  • If you have an overbearing or interfering MIL you need to keep your mouth shut because you might be a MIL one day and how would you feel if your DIL talks about you this way?

What have I missed?

Don’t worry if it’s raining, put them in wet suits, go outside and jump in puddles and then snuggle up with hot chocolate (it’s always snuggle)

So true about the snuggling!

I just wish it worked like that. Always sounds so lovely and not screamy, messy and gross!

Reading a thread where OP is overwhelmed looking after 2 DC under 4 and the responses are like MN bingo:

Just take them out every day for 2 hours to tire them out.

Don’t worry if it’s raining, put them in wet suits, go outside and jump in puddles and then snuggle up with hot chocolate (it’s always snuggle)

Have you had them checked for ADHD?

Lower your standards when it comes to cleaning/housework (fine in theory but realistically kids that age cause mayhem and you can’t just live in their mess)

I’m just waiting for the spa suggestion and I’ll have a full house.

Spa suggestion has been made 😁

If you don't ENTIRELY agree on trans issues you are a misogynist, or probably actually a man. Not just someone who doesn't live on the FWR board.

Bingo!

There was another amazing ‘supportive’ response on that thread from someone who said she had been in a similar situation with 2 under 4 but she learned to deal with it because her husband earned loads so she coped with a ‘’beautiful house and private school” for the DC. And she’s so glad she did because the DC rewarded her later in life, one got a first Oxford and the other a first from Cambridge. Lollll.

Yes this always sounds amazing but in practice it's about 60 seconds of fun after which they manage to fill their boots up with water and are cold and miserable all the way home.

Also the DC are way too fussy for hot chocolate or even warm milk.

faux shock <GASP> “Do people really still test for Covid?? Why???”

🙄

There's a thread over in Pets, about grief after the loss of a pet. There are people on there telling other people that the grief of losing a pet is nothing like losing a family member and pets are just much cherished animals.

It's almost like a competition to see who can be the vilest on here these days.

My friend admitted to me that he was more upset when his dog died than when his parents died. This was his reality.

SHAME ON YOU FOR WEARING THE WRONG SIZE BRA! Going for bra fittings is a legal requirement, and if you refuse this you should be questioned by the police.

And shame on anyone who dares to criticise the One True Almighty Braviss*mo who can do no wrong and you should bow down to their superiority at all times. If you dare to criticise them, you deserve for their cult followers to start a pile-on in which they are aghast at your audacity and demand to know why you feel entitled to criticise them.

I left their Facebook page a few years ago because of their cult followers. I've been a Bravissimo customer since they advertised in the back of magazines and were for slim women with big boobs and not just fat women, and have seen a decline in quality, decline in styles and a hike in price over the years but their cult just won't accept criticism of their beloved brand, and the constant whine for 'real' women aka someone who is overweight to be their models just felt like bullying of those who weren't as they weren't 'real' women.

Whilst I was putting away the fork that DH genuinely accidentally forgot to put in the dishwasher, I noticed he brought me a trip to the Maldives and an LV bag!!

he forgot to put a fork in the dishwasher?! Leave his lazy ass!! Don’t stay with him for one more min!! He’s suppressing you!!

any DH or DP complaint, no matter how big or small - leave them!

Er...I think you'll find 'leave' is insufficient.

It has to be a full on LTB (leave the bastard).
