Happy to see Princess Kate doing so well, but...

I'm really glad to see Kate doing so well, and I am glad she has finished chemo looking so healthy and happy. However my sister and I cannot stop laughing at the video Kensington Palace have just released.

We think the video has a striking resemblance to the Twilight films, only warm toned and shorter.

Narration - check
Holding hands while lying down in a meadow - check
Tree climbing - check
Stacks of logs - check
Dramatic sweeping shots of trees - check

I was waiting for William to say something really cringy while giving Kate a piggy back ride.

I think it was beautiful.

LunaNorth · 09/09/2024 18:04

I thought it was really lovely and I want her dress.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 09/09/2024 18:05

I loved it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh my! It feels like an advert to join a cult, or for sanitary products in parts.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 09/09/2024 18:06

I got Gladiator vibes with the hand through the grass bit

Justmuddlingalong · 09/09/2024 18:08

I found it beautiful and very moving.

the80sweregreat · 09/09/2024 18:09

I'm glad she's well and I hope she can get back to work / normal as soon as possible now..
The video is a bit different, but they obviously felt the need to do this.

Whatabouterry · 09/09/2024 18:10

Good for her. I thought it was lovely.

Jesss21 · 09/09/2024 18:16

I thought it was lovely also, seems quite nasty to be laughing at someone's celebration of being cancer free.

Great response.

EscapeTheCastle · 09/09/2024 18:21

They must be big fans of Gladiator! I know I am.

AgnesX · 09/09/2024 18:22

I thought William looked a bit embarrassed at one point. It was all a bit twee.

This in buckets.
What the fuck is wrong with you all?

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 09/09/2024 18:23

It's a bit twee but a lot of people genuinely like that sort of stuff.
If I had gone through what she's had to go through the video outtakes would have been me alternating between doing cartwheels and flipping the camera off.
Particularly with the world obsessing over everything. Including claiming my husband had clearly beaten me to death and the palace was covering it up (yes I remember the threads on here and the even worse insanity on reddit!)

It's been fucking nuts. God knows what they actually think!

I think we can cope with a bit of tweeness we don't even have to watch.

Yep! Proper nasty.

DurhamDurham · 09/09/2024 18:25

I wish her well and I'm pleased that she appears to be on the mend. The video is a bit twee, it's stylised too much.
I'm not sure why it's been released and how it's supposed to help other cancer sufferers? I've known friends with cancer and they're too busy trying to get back to work asap, paying their bills, organising childcare and getting on with things, totally removed from Kate's experiences with the limited time and resource they've been faced with.
I suppose if it's inspired anyone and given them hope, it's been worth it.

HateSpewingTurnip · 09/09/2024 18:25

I had to stop watching after a few seconds, but am so pleased she's doing well ☺️

WilmaFlintstone1 · 09/09/2024 18:25

I loved it …..but I see what you mean about the Twilight vibes.

Like all who have been dealing with cancer I hope she continues to do well.

Hoolihan · 09/09/2024 18:26

I'm glad she's ok and I actually think what she says in the video is quite moving but the visuals are so cheesy, it's like a bad Center Parcs ad.

NatalieNatalieNatalie · 09/09/2024 18:27

I have been through the same and am so happy for her that chemo is over, as I would be for any mother.

The sepia and the music tipped the video into a massive saccharine cringe fest for me. It's possible to welcome the news whilst also finding the video a bit silly.

Mittens67 · 09/09/2024 18:27

When you have cancer you have a free pass to be as “twee” or “cringey” as you want in my book.
I have cancer myself.
We all cope with things differently.
Incredibly nasty minded OP to start such a post. Let’s see how you deal with things if you are ever in this horrible position.

betterangels · 09/09/2024 18:28

People respond to it. They wouldn't do it if it didn't work.

ssd · 09/09/2024 18:29

Absolutely beautiful

JustPassingThyme · 09/09/2024 18:29

My mum sent us the video, she had cancer, and found our twilight comparison funny.

It reminded me of those montages they put together for Eurovision.
