Happy to see Princess Kate doing so well, but...

I'm really glad to see Kate doing so well, and I am glad she has finished chemo looking so healthy and happy. However my sister and I cannot stop laughing at the video Kensington Palace have just released.

We think the video has a striking resemblance to the Twilight films, only warm toned and shorter.

Narration - check
Holding hands while lying down in a meadow - check
Tree climbing - check
Stacks of logs - check
Dramatic sweeping shots of trees - check

I was waiting for William to say something really cringy while giving Kate a piggy back ride.

Beautiful film
Beautiful family
Beautiful sentiment and statement

But it just didn't work together. I feel they were trying to replicate the nostalgia of the old footage of previous royal generations but missed the mark. It's a shame. They didn't need to do this.

Meh, the palace put this out for the public to watch- people are allowed to have opinions on things the royals do.

Yes, this. I can't actually bring myself to watch the whole thing, as what I saw was so cringeworthy. I'm glad her treatment has finished and wish her the best, but that doesn't mean I have to rave over the video.

People on 'cancer journeys' don't immediately lose all sense of humour and critical thinking skills.

Oh behave yourself FGS. 🙄

Oh sorry, forgot the only acceptable Mumsnet response is to silently sob in to my high earning husband’s shoulder as we toast to the bravery of our beautiful, brave future Queen.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 09/09/2024 18:56

It just seems so out of character for her, for both of them. They usually seem so private and reserved.

They tried being private and reserved earlier this year, didn't they. Where did that get them? Lots of 'where's Kate' and vile rumours and speculation here on MN and elsewhere.

MotherofAllMatriarchs · 09/09/2024 18:56

I don’t like the monarchy but actually found this really moving. Another sign I’m getting old…

Why is it a shame?

Exactly what I thought.

No but I suspect they’ll focus more on the message she was sharing than a critique of film style.

Rewis · 09/09/2024 18:59

Very well crafted PR piece for the RF.
Was a bit too many clichés in one video and a bit too forced and staged. But that's how ot is with RF. Best of luck to them x

Vabenejulio · 09/09/2024 18:59

I do think the crux of the message is "family", which anyone who's had to seriously consider losing them to illness knows is uniting. Isn't that what the monarchy is meant to do, unite people? But yes it's terribly twee. I really don't think it was necessary. But whatever - it's harmless.

ButterAsADip · 09/09/2024 19:00

Not every comment in your head needs to be shared. I’m glad to hear she’s cancer free.

tothelefttotheleft · 09/09/2024 19:01

I thought it was cringy and awful.

I've just finished chemo and especially hated the bit at the end directed to cancer patients.

PandaWorld · 09/09/2024 19:01

I thought it was beautiful. As someone with chronic health issues, I understand what she is saying. Bad health puts life into a different light.

Grow up, seriously. This is neither the time, nor the place - for rude and unpleasant posts, and pathetic and childish sarcasm. You're not funny.

Everyone responds to this shitty experience in their own way. She's a mother with young kids. And he knows what it's like to lose your mum at a young age.
I'm no monarchist but give over with the sniping everyone.

I'm just happy to hear that the Princess is cancer free. Brought a tear to my eye.

They said on the news that she hadn’t specifically said she is cancer-free

FinallyYouSaid · 09/09/2024 19:05

I can't believe what I just watched 🙈 Like a pp said, self-indulgent wank fest indeed.

It reminds me of American true crime dramas, with 'dramatised' bits played by actors. All happy, smiling, twee family videos before the dramatic voice over... No one could have known what would happen next .

MSLRT · 09/09/2024 19:05

It was really lovely. Does it make you feel superior to mock it? Let’s face it she can’t do right for wrong. I wonder how your posts would be if you were recovering from cancer.

hattie43 · 09/09/2024 19:05

@Curtainsformeplease

I heard the same , they said her chemo was over but did not say she was cancer free .

It just shows how nasty and bitter some people are .

TwilightSkies · 09/09/2024 19:07

Pure cringe. And people are fawning over it 😂

Growsomeballswoman · 09/09/2024 19:08

Will Charles and Camilla do the sequel?
