Baby having its nappy changed in the middle of a cafe. 🤮 I didn't think it actually happened! This is the same cafe that also has signs in the toilets, to remind people that toilet roll goes in the toilet, not the bin. This is on a University campus of a well respected university!

I sat next to someone on the plane changing a nappy on her lap but the baby wasn't on solids and plane toilets are a hassle with a queue down the isle only to be confined in tiny space with barely any room to shut the door behind you. She apologised, I smiled and said I get you.

PolePrince55 · 29/08/2024 19:15

Maybe she can't walk pain free yet, if it was a new born perhaps she feels like her insides are about to fall out of her vagina. Our section scar and perhaps it was easier for her to change nappy in situ

whichwayisup · 29/08/2024 19:34

I'm assuming anyone suggesting an equivalence between tiny baby wet nappy change and elderly person incontinence pad change haven't done either.

I'm assuming many of you also get your nicks in a right twist about horrors like jam before cream on a scone or ...oh actually I've no idea... Who knows what goes on in the minds of the perpetually outraged over fuck all in the slightest at all.

What a stupid comment

How is a baby in a buggy having its nappy changed like an adult in a wheelchair having the incontinence pad changed 😂😬🫣😂

Potential piss and shit in a place where people are eating is potential piss and shit. That’s my point. It’s bloody disgusting. Poop and Scoop that mate.

Just because you might be ok with an ickle baby having his bum-bum changed while you’re eating, the health and hygiene factors are the same. It’s still bloody disgusting.

No, just piss and shit in a cafe really.

Haggia, you absolutely 100% don't limit yourself to piss and shit in a cafe... Come on... There's nothing like that happy anger you feel in the certainty you do things the right way and the rest of the dirty fuckers are wrong.

Wish i still had a baby so I could take it to the cafe and change it's nappy in the pram.

Dirty fuckers aren’t wrong, they’re just dirty fuckers.

Glad you found your tribe. I’m sticking with the clean fuckers 😂😂😂

MaryMary6589 · 29/08/2024 19:45

I have no issue with a baby who hasn't started solids yet being changed in their own pram anywhere. Life is hard enough at this stage without having to navigate public toilets.

Nanny0gg · 29/08/2024 19:45

Brooklyn99999 · 29/08/2024 15:51

A wet nappy changed in a pram isn’t really that big of a deal.
Dirty nappy different story.

I’ve had to do it in the boot of my car a couple of times when out alone with my twins and the buggy didn’t fit in the changey.

That's fine

That's one of the things we did back in the day before you could change (or feed) your baby in cafes or shops. And I still don't recall ANY baby being changed in a cafe

Today there is no need! There's lots of choices and where food is being served is not one of them

Bromptotoo · 29/08/2024 19:46

DysonSphere · 29/08/2024 18:10

Remnants of untreated human waste next to fruit which might be eaten on the go is absolutely a hygiene issue!

You do know that bird poo lands on the fruit itself as well as the surrounding soil?

Nanny0gg · 29/08/2024 19:47

Stainglasses · 29/08/2024 15:57

I really don’t think it’s bad to change a little baby’s wet nappy in a cafe. I used to do it on my lap all the time and once I had toddlers and a baby I really had no choice. Very uptight to mind about this!

Not uptight

We used to say you shouldn't feed your baby in a toilet (when that used to be suggested as there was nowhere else)

Well you shouldn't toilet your baby where people feed.

Nanny0gg · 29/08/2024 19:48

JustEatTheOneInTheBallPit · 29/08/2024 16:01

I have changed wet nappies in the pram before. I have also changed a poo nappy on the tarmac at the airport before. (We had to disembark the plane and immediately board a 45min shuttle bus.)

Once, in Italy, I was invited to use the top of a freezer behind the bar.

My toddler has a carry potty and, with the best will in the world, we don't always make it to a public toilet to bust it out. She uses it in the boot of the car often. Like, almost as often as she uses the potty at home, I think!

I'm doing my best and I won't beat myself up about these minor infractions.

I would never ever change a poo nappy on the table of any cafe or restaurant, regardless of the state of the changing facilities.

There's nothing wrong with using your car

It's not a public space

Duparsisoverrated · 29/08/2024 19:48

MavisPennies · 29/08/2024 15:31

I saw someone changing a nappy on the floor in Primark a couple of weeks ago

Better that than in a cafe.

Nanny0gg · 29/08/2024 19:51

Lupina12 · 29/08/2024 16:15

Yep, similar has happened to me

Go easy on mothers of small babies, people. It's fucking tough

Some of us have been mothers of small babies

Back in the day when there was nowhere to feed your baby or change them

12345mummy · 29/08/2024 20:10

This is how other people end up getting get ill! Did the Mum wash her hands before then touching the cafe table, door handle etc? Probably not. It’s becoming common practice and IMO its not right because it’s unhygienic

Elphamouche · 29/08/2024 20:15

You’re offended by a wet nappy in a pram?! Bloody hell.

My twins are 17m 😂

Agree that there mostly is a baby change around, quite often don’t fit my double buggy in though, hence the occasional boot change in the past when I’ve not had someone to watch the other twin.

I didn’t realise there wasn’t always baby changes everywhere, that must have been a nightmare.

Ive only done this once with a wet one and it was due to the ‘accessible’ toilet being full of mop buckets and tables, I would have left the pram outside and used the changing table but it was filthy and covered in cleaning bottles 😑😑😑

To clarify when I said ‘this’ I meant in the pram not on the table. I’m not sure anyone wants that on the table next to them.

I used to work hospitality and a colleague found a used (wet) nappy on a plate once. We had lovely facilities and they were less than 10 feet away from the table 😩

BigMandyHarris · 29/08/2024 20:42

Only a wet one, in the pushchair?

I would have no problem with this and have done it myself many times when necessary

Cocothecoconut · 29/08/2024 20:52

Quite a few years ago I was in a pub with my Mil and a parent changed their baby on the table diagonally from us
inwardly I was wtf . so not on 🤢

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 29/08/2024 21:37

Meh, I couldn't get too worked up about a baby having their nappy changed in their pram. I thought you meant on the table at first- that would be grim

DysonSphere · 29/08/2024 22:05

Bromptotoo · 29/08/2024 19:46

You do know that bird poo lands on the fruit itself as well as the surrounding soil?

This is grasping for straws. Naturally one looks at the fruit.

That is no justification in any case for you risking transfer of your human faeces bacteria to the fruit.

And no, farms aren't sterile environments but there's a reason that human waste is treated before bring used in them and they often provide places to wash your hands outside the animal pens.

Change your child's nappy in the correct place and not amongst food sources and places of food preparation.

It's summer. Do it outside or find a loo with a change station. At least there are quite a few of those around these days

@Nanny0gg

how does your comment relate to my post??

Madamlulu · 30/08/2024 06:22

I think it's rude and lazy. I developed a great knack of changing mine on my knee if need be- they were safe and I could go and sit anywhere to do it.

Breastfeeding in public/eating establishments- I have no problem with - it's eating.

Toileting/nappy changing in public/eating establishment: - not acceptable imo
