So, one of the brothers has a divorce bill to pay. Apparently they have magically ‘got over’ their acrimony and will stage a come back - what an amazing coincidence! I still maintain:

a) they were a derivative, naive, band with absolutely rubbish lyrics.

b) they mercilessly exploited the hard man, brotherly feud shit in pursuit of loadsamoney

c) they should just go away and not inflict any more of their talent on us

d) I am cross with myself for even posting about this because it gives talentless white macho males the oxygen of publicity.

Discuss.

Oddly bitter about something that is ultimately out of your control…random!

No matter how much you hate them and their fans, Oasis is beloved by many.

At a recent Liam gig everyone was singing along, grinning and happy, especially the fat 50yo men.

It always surprises me how triggered some people are by other’s happiness. Like, what does it matter if some men (and women) of all sizes (and ages) go and listen to some music?

Reckon the Guardian will be able to get a few think pieces out of it anyway.

Liam goes supersonic as it rises up baby name charts around world

As a woman in her 30s I'd rather listen to Oasis than "Taytay"

I do indeed feel the same way about any band who cynically reunite having sworn off ever doing such a thing. It's a massive U-turn and smacks of desperation.

My thoughts too.
Two grubby has-been desperate for cash reuniting despite hating each other’s guts 🤷🏼‍♀️

That’s all they need to sell out stadiums worldwide

There is something truly dreadful about giving a grown woman a nicky that sounds like baby talk ...

rainsofcastamere · 26/08/2024 15:49

No cos Taytay is current. Some miserable England hating fake-Manc Champagne Socialist who was last relevant in 1997 isnt the same.

@BruceJennersLostOrgan

Hahaha! Taytay?! I mean come on, I'd rather see oasis on repeat everyday for the rest of my life than have to watch Taylor Swift once. Her music is diabolical. She's only relevant in the circles who give mediocre pop stars nicknames and made a mint off the back of it. I mean kudos to her for ripping you all off! But then, there we have it, human beings have differing tastes!

Floogal · 26/08/2024 15:54

Good news. Although at the time I was more in favour of Blur (who have also recently got back together). Though I was more into Pulp and Black Grape.

Scorchio84 · 26/08/2024 15:54

I'm actually really excited about this, I've seen them before of course & yes it is going to be a nostalgia fest with middle aged men & women in bucket hats but it was just the news I needed to near now that my summer hols are over & I'm back in school

That said I'm pretty sure we won't get tickets for Dublin (if there's a Dublin date even announced) but I'll happily travel to the UK or wherever else they might announce

I LOVE OASIS ❤️

Me to! 💜they're amazing, hit after hit after hit.

I don’t mind the odd Radiohead song but I wasn’t / am not a huge fan.

I preferred Pulp and James, both of which still sound pretty good to me.

JAMES! Yes! One of the best gigs I went to as a student. Whole place was bouncing. They were great!

dapsnotplimsolls · 26/08/2024 16:53

The Stone Roses are trending on Twitter. When they did their reunion gig in Warrington a few years ago, people were absolutely desperate for tickets and I did have a brief moment of being able to see their point! Oasis - not so much but I'm not going to judge those who are thrilled to bits.

The Stone Roses had a reputation for being utterly shit live and Ian Brown was panned for being appallingly flat at Glasto one year. (I can confirm this. I heard it from a distance and didn't wish to get any closer).

So the Stone Roses reunion was something of a different beast.

Ian Brown is a massive giant bellend and he definitely did go 'all Morrisey' a few years back.

I saw The Stone Roses at Spike Island. The sound was, indeed, shit.

Pedallleur · 26/08/2024 17:17

Like the Beatles Vs Stones. Swift Vs Oasis. Who cares? Both successful artists although Swift is currently the Empress of pop. Oasis just are of their time. Like GnR, they influenced a generation. Rags to riches which some people seem to object to. Other artists have gone on a cash haul eg Phil Collins. The Eagles are even miming for their supper.

GellerYeller · 26/08/2024 17:19

The Eagles are miming?! Where did you see this please?

Messen · 25/08/2024 21:55

Who is buying those tickets?

45 year olds with more money than sense? Their poor offspring who’ve grown up thinking this is music? Gawd.

45 year old britpop/indie kidwith no sense thanks very much !!

Musiclover234 · 26/08/2024 17:21

Has anyone said …. ‘Who/ what is Oasis i’ve never heard of them?!’ yet??

Taytocrisps · 26/08/2024 17:22

I'm not an Oasis fan (more of an '80s girl myself) but they were very popular back in the day and lots of people bought their music. It remains to be seen if their music will still appeal today and if people will snap up tickets to see them in concert or download their music or whatever. It's not something that will keep me awake at night.

AmusedMaker · 26/08/2024 17:26

It’ll sell out in about 1.2 seconds regardless

Definitely!
I love Oasis and really hope they get back together.
