So, one of the brothers has a divorce bill to pay. Apparently they have magically ‘got over’ their acrimony and will stage a come back - what an amazing coincidence! I still maintain:

a) they were a derivative, naive, band with absolutely rubbish lyrics.

b) they mercilessly exploited the hard man, brotherly feud shit in pursuit of loadsamoney

c) they should just go away and not inflict any more of their talent on us

d) I am cross with myself for even posting about this because it gives talentless white macho males the oxygen of publicity.

Discuss.

They 100% will want to hype it before putting on a lengthy run of shows on sale. They won't want to end up looking stupid.

Oh god I hope the tickets aren't going to be released yet, I need a bit of notice! My ears will be peeled in the morning

I think we just have to roll with it. Definitely maybe they will play some of their greatest hits. Don't look back in anger at the 90s. I doubt if cigarettes and alcohol will be allowed to be brought into the venues.

🤣🤣🤣

This is doing the rounds on twitterX

Dua Lipa is playing at Wembley on at least two of these dates - unless they boot her out Grin

Mirror reporting there is a new album that has been already completed.

The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised

Fucking tasteless. What guns have fallen silent? Not those in Ukraine or Gaza.

Ridiculous.

The racism on this thread is appalling and if the things said had have been about a woman of colour, with parents from Africa/India, the thread would have been pulled. If we chatted about recent mass stabbings across Europe then the cry would be 'what's colour got to do with it'. Apparently it's everything when we are talking about white men.
@HRTQueen are you a bit confused about what raving was/is?
Do 50 somethings have to stop going to concerts? Are we throwing ageism into the mix? The lists of artists are all very well, but most aren't touring and I still like live music, even though I'm over 55. I go to see NG high flying birds concerts. It's a mixed age group and a lot of us oldies don't even drink anymore. The behaviour at his concerts are good, but I go to Liverpool/Manchester.

Ponoka7 · 27/08/2024 08:36

@Solymoly me and my friends are all (ex)professionals, we met on an access course/Uni as Oasis was breaking into the music business. In my wider friendship group everyone still needs to work and we need to pass DBS checks. Why would their concerts be rough? There's more drug taking at the Pink Floyd tribute concerts.

Those dates are much more sensible than the rumours. And very much do fit with Glasto.

As for Oasis gigs being rough, I note the comment saying 'no they aren't I went to Knebworth'. Well yes. Knebworth wasn't rough, but you missed what I said about how the gigs changed and very much did become really unpleasant and rough later on...

Beeranddresses · 27/08/2024 08:57

Oh come off it. I’m no fan but they had some really listenable tunes that lots and lots of people liked and that’s how they got rich. It’s not down to an academic assessment of the complexity or genius of the music. Just whether or not enough people liked the tunes to buy them.

Its the same for any pop star that gets rich.

Oh for gods sake. Stop it. Not everything needs to be over-analysed and deemed offensive. Do you live your life picking fault with every little thing?

I don’t think they’re playing there so should be ok.

LlynTegid · 27/08/2024 09:12

Probably this was the Masterplan for a while. Some people seem to be going supersonic in their over reaction to this news, they assume that the music of Oasis is going to live forever.

The comments about their origins are unacceptable in my opinion.

Pedallleur · 27/08/2024 09:13

real sense of hate on here for 2 guys who made it from nothing to having it all within 2 years. Obnoxious? maybe but they didnt hide it, that was genuinely how they were because no one gave a shit about them or the area they grew up in. they just had it whatever 'it' was that every band who makes should have. An edge to them. Not prancing around like Ed Sheeran or Chris Martin (I get they have their admirers). Like watching GnR in the early days, there was a chaos to them. the Stones had it into the early 70s. if they can pack them in good luck to Oasis. Phil Collins was a master of the divorce reunion payout.

massistar · 27/08/2024 09:22

Oasis are one of those bands where I get to do that tedious thing of saying I saw them before they got big. In a tiny club in Glasgow. I'd been to a lot of gigs, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen, Carter USM. Even saw Nirvana at Reading. Oasis blew me away. There was something so raw and exciting about that first album. You just knew they were going to be huge.

In saying that I think I'll stick to my memories and give this one a miss. Amazing for those who didn't get a chance to see them back in the day though.

GingerPirate · 27/08/2024 09:38

I'm not even sure who they actually are ...
😂

Itisjustmyopinion · 27/08/2024 09:54

Just a heads up for anyone who ends up with Edinburgh tickets but not familiar with the city. The dates at Murrayfield are right in the middle of the Fringe so accommodation will be difficult to get or expensive

Already quite a lot of comments on Twitter about how ridiculous it is to put a show of this size on during the Fringe

GasPanic · 27/08/2024 10:01

Messen · 25/08/2024 22:18

my current Spotify list includes:

My Brightest Diamond
Ramones
Sonic Youth
Ezra Collective
Jacob Collier
Little Simz
Sia
Mitski
Caribou/ Daphni
Vlllagers
Led Zep

I mean, you couldn’t really escape oasis in the 1990s. It doesn’t mean they were any good. It’s a bit like saying the food you love now is influenced by your 15-year-old love of findus crispy pancakes 🤷‍♀️

No doubt you think you are cool and have really good taste. But looking at that list you don't seem to have much to write home about.

Oasis are one of the most popular UK bands of all time. Their staying power over the years is amazing. They have churned out track after great track since their very first album. They delivered.

The good news ? The fact the Oasis haters don't want tickets means more available for those that do. They'll still be a massive sell out even though they are probably way past their best.

The barely disguised snobbery and bitching on this thread is embarrassing. Why do so many people who don’t like something (that’s perfectly normal and mainstream) think it’s ok to be rude and superior and belittling to those who do?

I’m not particularly a swiftie, but I don’t feel the need to look down my nose and sneer at those who are. I hope they all have an ace time at the concerts and swap all of the friendship bracelets that they make and have a thoroughly good time singing their heart out.

Like I will do at Oasis (maybe with slightly less friendship bracelets).

I agree it’s so boring, people thinking they’re incredibly superior because they like different music, it’s very teenage being so sneering about other people’s music tastes.

Dont like them? Don’t go, simple really.

JaneIves · 27/08/2024 10:15

I love your username @GasPanic such an underrated Oasis track.
When it drops in full 😎

I'm off to work, going to blast SOTSOG I think!

ALovelyCupOfNameChange · 27/08/2024 10:17

Saw Liam at knebworth. I’ve never seen so many coked up middle aged men stumbling around.

it’s going to be absolute carnage and I wouldn’t be taking youngsters.

come Saturday morning I will be on ticketmaster desperate for tickets for my teens, oasis was a bit of an entry into rock music for them so it feels only right.

they aren’t for everyone, that’s the great thing about music, there’s something for everyone.

TheFormidableMrsC · 27/08/2024 10:38

I think it's great! I won't be buying tickets because I last saw them at Knebworth and that was enough but I know plenty of friends and family who are utterly delighted and will see them I'm sure. I don't know why you're giving it any thought if you're not interested.

Yes that was my experience of Knebworth too, and that was all the supporting bands too. Absolutely off their heads, all of them!

I wonder how much they remember of it?

that Said, coke seems to be absolutely insipid at every concert I go to. People in front of you just snorting it off their keys, hands, anything. It’s all ages and really really grim. It’s given my teens some lessons watching the decent from them turning up at a concert, fairly ok, to the end of it when they are a gurning mess.
