So, one of the brothers has a divorce bill to pay. Apparently they have magically ‘got over’ their acrimony and will stage a come back - what an amazing coincidence! I still maintain:

a) they were a derivative, naive, band with absolutely rubbish lyrics.

b) they mercilessly exploited the hard man, brotherly feud shit in pursuit of loadsamoney

c) they should just go away and not inflict any more of their talent on us

d) I am cross with myself for even posting about this because it gives talentless white macho males the oxygen of publicity.

Discuss.

Fucking tasteless. What guns have fallen silent? Not those in Ukraine or Gaza.

Ridiculous.

Yes, you are being ridiculous.

Maddy70 · 27/08/2024 11:23

Noone cares

I like them. Will hope to get tockets. Dont care if you or anyone else doesn't

Each to their own

Lovewine1975 · 27/08/2024 11:39

I went to Knebworth loved every minute of it, was young so just remember people smoking lots of weed and drinking. Sat near the VIP area and saw Martine McCutcheon walking in with Mick Hucknell and how cool they were, The Prodigy were supporting and was absolutely mental the place was literally jumping! Oasis were just outstanding Liam looking so Rock and Roll loved him to bits. Amazing day and unforgettable memories.

Hope to get tickets for me and my husband who has never seen them and loves them too.

Oh come off it. I’m no fan but they had some really listenable tunes that lots and lots of people liked and that’s how they got rich. It’s not down to an academic assessment of the complexity or genius of the music. Just whether or not enough people liked the tunes to buy them.

Its the same for any pop star that gets rich.

Exactly. Anyone who says they were crap/boring/pointless is talking shite. Clearly haven't been arsed to listen to the vast majority of their music. In fact, they have very likely hardly ever listened to anything of theirs. Probably think Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger were their only hits. 🙄

RedToothBrush · 27/08/2024 13:03

Worth noting if anyone is considering taking kids.

Heaton Park and Croke Park are both strictly no under 14s. (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult over 18).

Wembley, Edinburgh and Cardiff do allow under 14s but only in the seating areas.
Edinburgh is also being particularly strict saying explicitly that all 14 and 15 year olds must be accompanied by an adult over 18 at all times (as well as all under 14 year olds).

Its also a max of 4 tickets PER HOUSEHOLD. Not per person.

Greentreesandbushes · 27/08/2024 13:10

Looking at the capacity of the stadiums they are playing several hundred thousand fans will disagree OP. Wembley alone will be almost 400k people alone.

I’m away, in a different time zone but will be getting up in the middle of the night to buy tickets.

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 27/08/2024 13:10

Why on Earth is it so high up on the news? It was the headline this morning, now second on the BBC news app. I quite like some of their old hits, but I can't believe it's this newsworthy that they're back together..

Newbie8918 · 27/08/2024 13:14

They are classed as one of the most successful bands in history. Awards and nominations below (wiki)

17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit Awards, including one in 2007 for Outstanding Contribution to Music and one for the "Best Album of the Last 30 Years" for (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. They were also nominated for two Grammy Awards.

There's a lot of snobbery and assumptions on this post. I've never understood the 'rage' when some people are just not in to certain successful bands. It's ok not to like them however I do wish people would have the ability to reflect and understand that they are in the minority and not everyone can be wrong!

Music is subjective. If you don't like them.....don't go.

QueenOfHiraeth · 25/08/2024 21:46

I quite liked them back in the day and think they had some good songs but am not remotely tempted to go and see them now

Something I really object to, more than anything Oasis related, is being told to "discuss" anything, how patronising!

Me too - instant "no thanks" reaction to "Discuss"

what else do you think is going to happen on a discussion site?

Absolute garbage. Sick of seeing sad 60 year olds exciting about going to see them and kids thinking they are edgy wanting to see them. The brothers are the biggest pair of talentless, boring idiots. All Liam does is literally shout his songs in his professional Mancunian, nasally voice. You couldn't pay me to go and see them. I do understand people like different stuff that they term music but it's ridiculous seeing it make the national news and having news reporters excitedly shouting about it.

Oochiesmoochies · 25/08/2024 22:01

Its Noel who is the tool now. Liam is funny as and seems not to take any of it seriously.

A rockstar?! Liam Gallagher?! 😂

They will sell out in minutes…..people love the songs …..I won’t be trying for a ticket……I can take them or leave them……but I’ve never not enjoyed them ( individually) at festivals over the years…….have watched their sets numerous times ( last time only a few weeks ago at Kendal calling) …..and Ithe audience love it …..a massive crowd of all ages singing along to ‘half a world away’ and the like…..it makes you feel alive…..I’m 59 and even my GDs are word perfect when it comes to an oasis song singalong

Vitriolinsanity · 27/08/2024 14:13

Well, I'm going to try for a ticket. But I'm 55 years old and nostalgic.

Turnitoffitsboring · 27/08/2024 14:14

@Bbq1 I don’t think it’s mainly 60 year olds? They would have been 30 at the time, nothing wrong with that at all, but I imagine the vast majority will be my age-mid 40’s although I think they’ll be a range of ages as kids probably like them too and people in their 30’s would have been kids growing up with it too

Turnitoffitsboring · 27/08/2024 14:15

Why will it not be on Tv? I live abroad so no chance of getting over 😩

No filmed broadcasts they have said

CoastalCalm · 27/08/2024 14:18

Saw them on their last tour and that was enough for me , was full of really drunk people chucking pints of piss all over and comically dressed as clones with their parkas and sunnies

It will be worse this time around as half the crowd will be kids singing along karaoke style with phones aloft

Have already seen people say it will be a class day for beers and beak - these are in their fifties now and need a head shake

Entertainment industry isnt it. All works together. keeps the momentum going for the sales and the shows

Turnitoffitsboring · 27/08/2024 14:29

@Kitkat1523 Why don’t they want it filmed at all?

of course they will but that will prob be for a DVD or Netflix thing. they arent going to give it out for free.

Anjo2011 · 27/08/2024 14:34

My husband is excited about the reunion. I couldn’t give a monkeys. I just don’t get the hype. They are doing it for the money and nothing more, there won’t be any chemistry between them. It will be a night of karaoke.
